Zack stepped closer, his presence overwhelming. “Delusional or not, it doesn’t change how I feel,” he shot back, his voice low and edged with tension. “You think breaking contracts and manipulating others will bring you peace? It won’t. You know that.”
Liya laughed sarcastically, a sharp sound that sliced through the air. “Peace? You think I’m the one who needs peace? NO, that’s never going to happen AGAIN. You lost your chance eight years ago.” Her eyes narrowed, every word dripping with conviction.
Zack paused, disbelief flickering across his face. Did she really mean it? He searched her eyes for any hint of uncertainty but found only determination.
“Now, if you don’t stop showing up or interfering in my life,” Liya continued, her voice steady but fiery, “I will get a restraining order against you from the court. This is your last warning. I hope you get that in your head and leave me alone like you have for the last eight years. I was very happy without you in my life, and these last ten to fifteen days have been hell since you showed up again.” She stepped closer, their faces inches apart, the tension crackling like static electricity. “I hope we never meet again from now on. Farewell.”
Zack's jaw clenched as he absorbed her words, anger bubbling beneath the surface. “You think you can just erase me? That you can throw threats around and I’ll cower?” His voice rose, each word laced with frustration. “You think this is over? You’re living in a fantasy if you think I’m just going to walk away.”
“Fantasy?” Liya shot back, her voice rising to match his intensity. “You’re the one living in a fantasy, Zack. You waltzed back into my life like you own the place. But let me remind you, you don’t control me anymore. Not then, not now.”
Zack stepped even closer, his eyes blazing. “You’re so wrapped up in your little empire that you can’t even see what’s happening around you. I came back to help you, and all you can do is push me away.”
“Help?” Liya’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “You call manipulating my business partners help? You think I don’t know what you’re doing? I’ve built my life without you, and I’m not about to let you tear it down with your twisted sense of loyalty.”
“Twisted? You think I’m the villain here?” Zack’s voice trembled with anger. “You’re the one who turned your back on everything we had. You act like you’ve forgotten who I am, but you’re the one who’s changed. You’re cold, Liya. You’re pushing everyone away.”
“I’m pushing you away!” she snapped, her eyes blazing. “Because I refuse to let you back in. I don’t need your chaos in my life. I’ve worked too damn hard to build what I have, and you’re not going to ruin it with your games.”
Zack took a step back, momentarily taken aback by the fire in her words. “Games? You think this is a game? I want you back, Liya. I want us back, but you keep slamming the door in my face.”
“Wanting me back doesn’t mean you can bulldoze your way into my life!” Liya’s voice echoed in the small room, a defiant declaration that filled the air with heat. “I’m not some possession you can reclaim whenever you feel like it. I won’t let you do that again.”
Silence fell between them, thick with unresolved tension. Liya’s heart pounded as she held her ground, determination igniting her spirit. She wouldn’t back down; she wouldn’t give in.
Finally, Zack’s expression shifted, a mix of frustration and desperation flickering in his eyes. “So that’s it then? You’re just going to throw away everything we built? You’re just going to walk away from me?”
“Everything we built? You destroyed it the moment you walked away,” Liya replied, her voice unwavering. “I refuse to let you manipulate me again. If you don’t leave me alone, I’ll make sure you regret it.”
With one last piercing look, Liya turned on her heel and left the meeting room, each step resonating with finality. The heat of the argument lingered in the air, a testament to the battles fought and the walls that now stood between them. As the door closed behind her, she felt a surge of relief and empowerment. She was taking control, reclaiming her life, and she wouldn’t let anyone—especially not Zack—take that away from her again.
