Episode 15

The Empress is also a bit uncomfortable with the situation, but she can't scold the prince in front of all the ladies, so she will have to wait until they are alone. Daisy steps a bit closer, taking the girl's hand.

"Miss Raven, why don't you join us for tea?"

"I appreciate the offer, but I wouldn't want to interfere with your valuable time with the Empress. After all, once the prince and I are married, I will be the one spending more time with her."

Hearing this only infuriates Daisy more, while the other girls murmur among themselves about the scene unfolding before them. Daisy tries to maintain her smile.

"You're quite the joker, Miss Raven."

"Miss Rose, I'm grateful that you wish to include my betrothed in your gathering, but we are in the middle of a date. Mother, I hope we haven't caused any disturbance by coming here."

The Empress simply turns around and returns to her seat.

"Don't worry about it. Go enjoy your date."

"Thank you, Mother."

Aiden bows and Raven follows suit, then they leave the room. Now that they're gone, several girls start to speak about how truly beautiful Raven is and that she and the prince make a lovely couple, though Daisy, of course, disagrees.

"Don't forget she's a promiscuous woman. The prince isn't the only man in her life, I assure you."

"But Miss Rose, you shouldn't spread such gossip. The prince is looking for the person spreading these rumors, and it could spell trouble for you."

"I'm only speaking the truth. Besides, if it bothers him so much, he shouldn't marry a woman like that."

"You don't know if it's true, you just speak for the sake of speaking. Maybe you should tell that directly to the prince."

The girl speaking to Daisy is the daughter of the Marquess Jones, who, like her mother, is loyal to the prince because she knows that the Empress is somewhat indifferent towards her son. Tired of the contradictions, Daisy heads straight to the Empress's table; she needs to know what she thinks of the girl.

"Your Majesty, are you alright? That girl was quite rude."

"I do not like her; perhaps the rumors are true. I shall have her investigated, and I may even find out she's a witch."

For the Empress, witches are not good women, or so she believes. She even thinks they might use some kind of magic to charm the prince and the emperor.

"If she's a witch, she can't be a good person. Witches use dark tricks; we must be very careful, Your Majesty."

While being a witch or wizard might be almost the same, very few believe that witches use dark magic to gain personal advantages. That the Empress thinks this way gives Daisy an edge and more fodder for the rumor she has been spreading.

On the other hand, Aiden has invited Raven to stay for dinner, which will help dispel the rumors and show that they are truly in love, unaffected by the slander.

"You responded well to that girl, Rose. It was amusing to see her face contorted in anger."

"She intended to humiliate me; I just responded in a way that stopped her from saying any more."

"You did well, and as a reward, we shall have lobster and pasta for dinner tonight."

He remembers well that those are Raven's favorite dishes. Whenever they performed well in their battles, Raven would use her rewards to dine on that expensive delicacy.

"Your Highness, you have guessed my tastes well."

"It's a coincidence, and besides, it is an expensive dish which you deserve."

"Really? Then I hope to always perform well, to be worthy of dinners like tonight's."

Aiden signals for dinner to be served, as Raven looks eager to taste the lobster; as she eats, Aiden can't help but smile watching her.
