It has already begun.Nevertheless,

As our heroine tries desperately to decide whether our swoony sculptor sees her as a mere plaything, or an actual girl he cares about, she does what every good introvert does under direct circumstances: pull back. Then, when a new suitor sweeps in, she takes advantage of the opportunity, and tries her best to protect her heart from further damage.

This drama is like a car accident. I don’t want to see it, but I can’t look away. Maybe that’s a good metaphor for the relationship between Na-bi and Jae-un too, though — she knows better, and she tries to wriggle out of his grasp, but in the end, there’s something that’s too strong and she can’t pull herself away from him. Come what may.

I said it last week, but I’ll say it again — there’s something unsettling and uncomfortable about this drama, and it’s not just because it’s rife with relationship hurts and confusion. There’s something deeper in the world of the story, and the way it’s told, that just leaves me feeling very on-edge. From the background music, to the cinematography, to the essence of the story, it all comes together to create this drama’s unique tone.

After their first kiss, Na-bi pulls away from Jae-un — first from the kiss and then from the relationship. She’s unsure of herself and what just happened between them. Jae-un doesn’t contact her for days, and in the meantime, the cute little hoobae KIM EUN-HAN (Lee Jung-ha) pops up. He’s the sweet, innocent puppy that’s crushing on his noona. He admires her work, is respectful yet clear that he’s interested in her, and the two start texting, hanging out on campus, and soon are on a date.

This drama is cruel, though, and in so many ways. First, that Jae-un sees them together and it starts up his pursual of Na-bi again. Second, that it illustrates Na-bi knows quite clearly the difference between the “safe” Eun-han, and the “dangerous” Jae-un. Third, that it all comes crashing down at her feet.

Eun-han might grab Na-bi in an innocent bear hug, but he knows what’s up. “You know that he only hurts other people,” he says. “Don’t let someone who was never sincere towards you hurt you.” Eun-han’s advice is well-taken, and seems right on the money. Na-bi knows he’s right, but there’s also this part of her that can’t let go of Jae-un. She does all the things she should — like pull away from the constant shoulder touching, and delete his number, but it doesn’t stop the sparks whenever they’re together. In her own words, when she’s around him, she can’t look away.

After the night they kissed, It begins with Na-Bi walking away from Jae-Eon after their kiss together.

That evening, Na-Bi heads out to visit Jae-Eon after going crazy following his period of radio silence. While she’s out, she ends up seeing him with Seol-A, a friend who’s just arrived from the airport. After Nabi contemplates how to approach Jae- eon about that encounter. Yoon Seol- a arrives in Korea from abroad, and her ex-boyfriend Jae-eon waits for her in the airport. Nabi sees them together on the campus and decides to spend her time with Kim Eun- han.

Heading inside, she thinks over the night’s antics and deliberates over exactly what the emotion is that she’s feeling. She hopes it’s love before getting a good night’s sleep.

In the morning, Na-Bi looks over her search history and notices lots of random internet searches about kissing friends and what it means. It’s actually a really relatable scene and one that sees her settle on an article claiming she’ll become “SPs” which seems to translate across to sex partners.

"What is this emotion? I hope it's just love. Not childish jealousy." People from their gathering sleep in Nabi's house, but Nabi is still up as she examines her emotions towards Jae-eon when they kissed. She sits up and stares at Jae-eon from her bed. Jae-eon also wakes up and stares back at Nabi.

Yoon-Sol snaps her out her thoughts though, hinting that her feelings could well be lust rather than love. This continues into class too, as she perks up when Bit-Na starts talking about relationships and how they differ to casual sex.

Sol and Ji-wan eat at a restaurant in the morning and talk about Nabi and Jae-eon from last night. They talk loudly and agree not to mention it to Nabi or Bit-na. Yang Do-hyeok, who was the server in the restaurant, overhears the conversation and smiles.

After their meet, Yoon-Sol heads out for food with Do-Hyeok whom she tries to pay back. Eventually they settle on a coffee while sitting down to eat together. After, they contemplate whether to meet up again or not. Outside though, they’re spotted by Ji-Wan, who’s just left the cinema with her +1. She obviously has feelings for Won so it certainly comes a a bit of a shock seeing her with someone else.

Confused with her current relationship with Jae-eon, Nabi searches the internet on the possible meaning of her experience the other night. Sol sees her, and Nabi decides to consult her thoughts to Sol without mentioning it was her own experience. Sol answers her question by saying that in the end, it still depends on who the other person is.

"Love is what can make

even the roughest person

become as soft as the sand

on a beach."

Nabi contemplates in their workshop how Jae-eon sees her. She hesitates to be the first one to message him after their kiss since she might appear clingy.

Their professor checks upon their works and encourages the students to date as it is the best inspiration for art. She shares that it's saddening how she once had a student who flirts around with no strings attached.

Ji-wan, together with her blind date, sees Sol with a man. Sol tries her best to compensate the man for previously spilling coffee on his shirt through a meal. The man rejects monetary compensation and wishes to see her again after their meal together.

"I feel guilty. They're supposed to be free, but they're locked up because of me."

Checking her phone with zero messages from Jae-eon, Nabi goes down to Jae-eon's work area. She sees him working on his project, and overhears his conversation on the phone with Seol-a. Nabi hides and follows Jae-eon just to see that he happily meets up with Seol-a on campus.

Heading into the convenience store,Nabi buys food in the convenience store and meets again the freshman Kim Eun-ha whom she sat next to at the gathering.

He asks for her phone number, and Nabi gives it to him. Na-Bi ends up exchanging numbers with the junior from the party, Eun-Han.Interestingly, Seol-A and Jae-Eon happen to be watching their interaction take place from afar. From above, Jae-eon sees them, and Seol-a notices Jae-eon's eyes towards Nabi.Jae-Eon claims she’s just a friend but Seol-A sees through this facade, believing there’s more too it than that.
