I decided it would be best if I walked around and figured out what my running route would be, since I haven't been here for a year and a half. It wouldn't take me long to map out where everything is in my head. I wanted to figure out what route I should take, before school started next week.
I will officially being going to Ravenswood Private Middle School. The district had a public middle school too, but my mother wanted it to seem like we were rich, so she basically begged my grandmother to pay for private school. My mom had told her that I really wanted to go and if she didn't pay for it, than she would be an awful grandparent. Which I guess really hit a nerve, because she ended up paying for it. I honestly didn't think it mattered which school I went to, but I guess I didn't have a say in the matter.
I guess I didn't know how I felt about being in a completely different school that wasn't even in the same state as my last one. I guess I'm grateful to have a clean slate, but I'm pretty sure no one would miss me back in Campton Hills. No one even wanted to go near me when they found out who my mom was, as much as I tried hiding who she was, it was inevitable for everyone to find out because, my dad was the coach for the highschool football team. I had hoped that this would give me the chance to actually make good friends who would be there when I needed them. I just needed to talk to someone about everything going on in my life, but than again, I had no idea on how to tell anyone that I had an abusive, alcholic as a mother, not to mention we just left my dad in another state.
As I turned to corner, still lost in my thoughts, I bumped into someone and fell on the hard ground. When I looked up, I saw an incredibly cute guy with dark hair, almost black and his eyes were so dreamy blue. He wore a white white covered by and jean jacket and jeans. I was so mesmerized by him, that I didn't realize he had asked me a question.
"Huh? What was that? I asked him a little confused.
"I said, are you ok?" he asked, stretching an arm out to help me up.
"Um...Thank you...yeah, I'm ok..." I said awkwardly, taking his hand. When he pulled me up, I bumped into his chest, we were so close, that I could feel his warm breath on my face. When I realized that I still had my hand in his, I pulled it away and stepped back at a safe distance.
"Thank you..." I said forgetting I had already said that.
"You already said that," he gave a small laugh and kept a small grin on his face, which grew the longer he looked at me. I couldn't help but feel nervous, and the worst part was that I think he could see just how nervous he made me. "I'm Alex, and you are?"
"Ashlynn." I held my hand out and he took it in his, as his eyes hadn't left mine this whole conversation. His eyes were so blue and dreamy, I couldn't help but stare right into them. We just stood there for a second, hand in hand, as we stared into each others eyes. I wondered if he was looking for something in my eyes.
"Hey, Alex, you coming, we have to get going if we are gonna make it to the party on time." a voice said, coming from behind Alex. I quickly pulled my hand away and looked off to the side. Alex looked back at his friends and then at me again.
"Well, I guess I have to go, maybe I'll see you around Ashlynn," Alex said hesitantly. "You wouldn't happen to wanna go to this party with me would you?" he said pointing back towards his friends black car. I'm guessing he was going with older kids, but I didn't ask.
"You know I totally would, but I have to get home, I'll see you around, Alex." I couldn't help but smile, I thought he might be upset that I rejected his offer to go to the party, but he wasn't, he just smiled back at me, and got in the car with his friends.
I started to head back to my grandmothers house feeling genuinely happy for the first time in a while. The feeling didn't last long because I reached the front door and remembered how I left things and wished I had taken up Alex's offer to take me to that party with him and his friends.
