Applauds...

They applauded them until they took their seats. As young as Mr Thompson could get, he was handsome, looking a lot like his breathtaking son and Mrs Thompson, wasn't looking any less.

Daniel on the other hand, had climbed up the podium to welcome everyone to this auspicious occasion. It was grand, the guests were all wealthy and high ranked people that one couldn't help but feel courteous and nervous too.

"Good day everyone. Today, I welcome you all to the 31th anniversary of Mr and Mrs Thompson..."

Daniel wasn't oblivious of the stares he was getting. He wasn't supposed to be the centre of attraction but yet the ladies never fail to notice his attractive physique and alluring voice. He had met the stare of one of them but failed to hold it for it drifted over to those with captivating blue eyes and blonde hair. For a second there, her hypnotizing eyes made him stop.

People anticipated what next he was going to say but he just gave a silent sigh and concluded.

"Thank you so much for joining us, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to celebrate with us."

For one third of his way back to her, his stare was still on her. For goodness sake, her dress would have been less revealing and her lipstick mild, it was like she was destined to seduced him today. He objected as soon as he suggested, if she would make a move, he needn't convince her to stop because all he thought about was if she wanted to kiss him too. she was looking perfect in that red dress with seducing split and... he looked away from her praying he was able to occupy his mind with something else.

She looked away too in a rush to calm her unsteady beat of the heart but her eyes landed on someone else in the process, the eyes thought she could forever avoid.

---

She stood in the restroom just staring at who she had become. A girl with a man everyone had their eyes on. Was this what she really wanted? The last time she had taking a proper look at a mirror, she was a girl who always let her parents make decisions for her, She was a girl who let her emotions lead to one of her biggest mistakes.

Nicholas...

And now she was stuck with her cousins ex who she always thought about.

Her sister Mia was right. She had a knack for taking away things that belonged to people. Mia was her sister who had died in a car accident six years ago now she was just 25. Maybe she did have a knack for taking things away from people.

She wasn't sure but what she was sure was that, not all stories have happy endings and maybe fate wanted it this way.

She turned to the sound of the door opening to her discomfort. And almost immediately she put off the the running tap and turned to the lady that she thought she could avoid. The lady who wasn't ashamed of the riches she got by forcing her daughter into the marriage she was trying to avoid. In her defense, she never knew what her daughter was passing through.

"Darling I missed you." Her mother told her as she went further to give her daughter a hug. Clarissa's hands tightened in a fist.

"Mother," she called. "How was your trip to the Philippines?"

Her mother released her hold on her.

"It was fun. How are you over here darling?" Clarissa turned away from her.

"I really don't know. How do you think I'll be doing?" She sighed then continued. "For now I'm okay, but what about tomorrow and the days after that?"

"You worry too much, everything will be alright." She flashed her a hint of amusement.

"That's what you think... for you everything will always be alright that is but for me," she turned again to her. "You made this decision and now I get to bear the consequences mother. You didn't for once even think about what my feelings would be?"

"How can you say that? Of course I did. Didn't the decision I made change your life for good. Look at you looking pretty and all that. All that I did for you, you should be grateful."

"I understand what you did mother, and I am grateful for that but can't you see that this is what I've being trying to avoid, this kind of relationships." Her mother frowned. "What if Clara comes back and-"

"She's never coming back! Don't you see, life gave you an opportunity. I only wish you could see it."

---

"Are you alright?" Daniel asked her. She couldn't mask all her worry from him.

She replied, "Yah, never felt better." It was then he was convinced that something wasn't right and he couldn't be wrong about this.

"If you say so then." He answered. "Do you want to dance?" She thought she hadn't heard correctly. Right now the guest applauded his parents as their music ended. It was time for them. He stood and held his hand out to her and she took it with hesitation, following him to the dance floor.

"You know, I like your choice of gown." That got her to finally stare at him and she did something that he always seem to like.

She blushed, "Oh, I'm glad you like it-"

"Let me take a guess, Audora picked it for you?" She cracked a smile. He took her away from him with the length of his arm only for her to come back to him with her back against his chest and his hands around her waist. He breathed in her addictive perfume and smiled too.

"Yeah, she said you were going to like it." She confessed with her face slightly turned to his.

They moved to a rhythm dancing like the model they were to everyone.

"Well I won't lie I do love the dress." He smirked as he felt her heavy breath on his face. His hands tightened on her waist just as his thoughts got drifted away to her lips. She allowed him take in her scent as she felt the need to arch into him. She unfortunately locked eyes with Austin who couldn't contain his grin at the both of them. But just as Daniel noticed, he took her back to face him.

"I don't want you staring at anyone else but me." He stated not taking his eyes off her for a moment.

"Even though he's just a friend." He finished.
