Doubts and breaking a rule

Sarah opened the door to her hostel room. It was locked she understood layla has not returned. Layla was supposed to return by 8pm at night so she decided to wait. Layla used to bring dinner over when she came late but sarah was rather hungry today so she went to the canteen and ate beforehand. Then as per her usual routine she went to her room and began to study. After some time when sarah started yawning she realized it was more or less her bed time though she didn't look at the clock till then her biological clock kept note of the time. So she looked at the clock to confirm the actual time

'O sh*t' she said it was 10pm at night and layla was still outside somewhere she didn't know. She began to worry'How could I be so immersed in my studies that I forgot to take note of the time and call layla?' She immediately took her phone and called layla 'switched off' she started to have a gut feeling she always had doubt regarding the gossip group which suddenly approached layla out of nowhere now that doubt only grew ans she had no idea where layla was neither she had the phone number of any other member of that group. 'I should have taken the number now what will I do' Sarah thought still she tried to keep positive in the situation it might just be nothing maybe the tire of the car they were in punctured but the problem was that couldn't take 2 extra hours even if they had no extra tire and had to call a mechanic. But she tried to convince herself by telling maybe someone of them fell ill which was definitely not layla and so she was taken to the hospital and layla's battery died. But layla always kept her promise about her curfew. Hospitals have telephone if she wanted or was in a condition to call you she would have done it already was the thought she had and layla was super concious about her phone she always charged it she did it today as well all of this was making the possible scenario worse in sarah's mind. Even if layla was somehow ill her friends should have called her she knew the phone had full battery when layla left and suddenly remembered how layla was on the verge of crying when she chose not to get involved with the gossip group.' No I can't waste any more time I have to go hostel gates were closed so she asked Mrs. Lee for help who was also tremendously worried after hearing the news.

I was thinking why layla didn't come to eat my god what should we do? Practically it's breaking school discipline it could also get her expelled if not properly taken care of.

(If she is alright) they both thought and sarah went out of the school premices from the back door for her very dear friend her bestie breaking a strict rule followed by both the school and the hostel.
