Waking up can be really tough, especially if your dreams are better than reality. But that won’t be the case today.
Nellie woke up as if there was an emergency as if sleeping had suddenly become a dangerous thing. Her heart was beating faster than usual, her brain was a jumbled mess, and a permanent smile was plastered upon her lips. Today was going to be special, she just knew it. Because, for the very first time ever, she had woken up incredibly happy and extremely optimistic.
The previous night, as she had predicted, her stepmother had indeed made them go to bed hungry on the account of Peter’s failure to completely sell his goods and also her tardiness back home. Peter, as usual, was already preparing for another night of crying himself to sleep but thanks to her very clever idea of getting back up, they didn't sleep hungry, and not only that, they wined and dined like kings and for the first time in a very long while, Nellie was gifted the pleasure of hearing her baby brother laugh without a care in the world; that alone automatically wrapped up the night as the best night of her entire existence.
Nellie knew she had to see the stranger again and thankfully she already had an invitation from him. She had only met him once and for that few minutes he was with her, he did what no other person was able to achieve—not that they even gave it a try though—he purposefully made her smile without asking for anything in return. She was beyond grateful to him and she just had to make him know that fact.
With all her house chores done, she collected her quota of good to be sold for the day, bid her brother farewell, and headed out with happiness surging through her and also the hopes of seeing the mysterious angel again; for he had single-handedly restored her damaged faith in humanity.

On this morning, the clouds diffused the daylight, dominating the morning sky, leaving transitory patches of blue, a suggestion that rain was going to play a part in her day and a noticeable sign that even the weather hated her happiness but she wasn’t going to let any of it bring her down, not today; her only prayer was for the angel to show up despite the rain.
Nellie got to the spot she had last met the stranger and patiently she waited by the side of the road for him to appear. To her greatest surprise and happiness, he showed up! She could not help the smile that immediately took over her face at the sight of him, but as usual, it didn’t take long for the husky colour of the sky to fade away and rain began to splatter on the asphalt road.
Taking out an umbrella and placing it over their heads, the stranger led a smiling Nellie to a nearby provision shop. Away from the rain, they both got into the small store then the stranger offered her a chair and waited for her to be seated before doing the same. She smiled at him feeling very grateful.
Reciprocating her smile he stretched out his hand and said,
“Hi, my name is Sunny Omola but my friends call me 'Sun’, what’s your name?” Nellie's smile widened, she was no more surprised about his warmness towards her now, for his name had graciously explained it all.
“My name is Nellie. It’s very nice to meet you.” She stretched out her hand and shook his with very much pleasure.

Over the course of two weeks, Nellie and Sunny had become very close; she would always bring her goods to him and he would always buy them from her, and sometimes he would even make his friends do the same. And during one of those many occasions, Sunny confessed to Nellie that he was in love with her, that he couldn’t live without her by his side and so fourteen years old Nellie, with the help of his constant persuasions, somehow convinced herself that she was completely and irrevocably in love with Sunny Omola as well.
Once their relationship had been established, Sunny moved to the next phase—Sex.
Every day they would talk about it and every day she would refuse to comply. So one day he asked her to meet him as usual but this time the meeting’s location would be at his house. Nellie seeing nothing wrong with his proposal— after all, he was her boyfriend— accepted to go.
When she arrived at his home, he did every single thing to make her comfortable. And once he saw that she had visibly relaxed, Sunny began his batches of interrogations.
“Do you love me?” he asked out of the blue and she nodded in confusion.
“Don’t you what to marry me?” Nellie stared at him shocked, wondering when he had asked and she did refuse… but she answered the question all the same in a very shy but confused voice, “I want to.”
He nodded and continued. “Don’t you want me to take you away from your wicked stepmother and also care for your brother?”
This time around, Nellie spoke louder and with so much seriousness in her voice. “I really want that Sunny, I really do!”
Sunny smiled and continued. “If you really love me as much as you say, then you will do everything in your power to make me happy as I have done for you. All I want is to hold you in my arms and make you completely mine. Don’t you want that too?”
Feeling very ungrateful and selfish, Nellie made up her mind right then and there that she would willingly do anything he wanted of her from that moment moving onward without ever asking him a single question again.
