Episode 18

Mason's P.O.V

The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky. Golden fingers of sunlight lit up the scene. As I stared out the window mentally preparing myself for what's to come.

I walked out of my room and went to Ava's. As I tried to open the the door, I realized it was locked!

(Chuckle) "Does she really think that's going to stop me from entering her room"

I went back to my room, grabbed the house keys and a whistle and went back to attempt to open her door.

After trying a couple of keys, I finally found the right key. As I pushed open the door a sleeping Ava could clearly be seen. I sneaked into the room and stood next to her bed side. As I gazed at Ava, I realized that she acts like a tigress with her claws out all day but at this moment she appeared to be a cute little harmless bunny. I began to feel unwilling to blow that whistle near her ear.

Sigh, as I stared at my watch and realized that it was almost opening hours at the Civil Affairs Bureau, I wasted no time in blowing the whistle next to her ears.

The next moment Ava began to groan grudgingly and I swore I heard her swear. As she opened her eyes and looked straight into mine. Somehow communicating the idea that if she had a knife in her hands right now, she wouldn't hesitate to use it.

"Rise and shine cupcake, Get ready we're going to the Civil Affairs Bureau" I said with a smirk.

Ava's P.O.V

"Rise and shine cupcake, Get ready we're going to the Civil Affairs Bureau" he said with a smirk.

"You know everyone describes you as this cold, arrogant and mature guy but you've really been acting childish, perverted and annoying lately!"

" Oh sweets, don't worry you'll get to know all of me soon" he said teasingly

My ears turned red as I asked "Have you found anything about my parents?"

"No, but I will tell you as soon as I know"

"So get dressed, You have to keep your end of the bargain besides you signed the contract."

" I know! "

"Good then hurry up will you!"

As he walked away he said "Wear something professional, we're going to the company after we leave the Civil Affairs Bureau"

I quickly got dressed and went downstairs to eat breakfast with Mason.

The ride to the Civil Affairs Bureau was quiet but at the same time comforting. For some reason I began to feel afraid, not because I was going to be married to Mason in less than an hour but because I was wondering if I would be enough. Whether I would be a good wife to him. I somehow felt stupid too. It's just a contract marriage but I wished it was real. I wished he married me not for convenience but because he truly loved me.

I shouldn't be selfish, he's a great person. I'm glad I met him in this lifetime.

Mason's P.O.V

The blazing midday sun shone over the buildings relentlessly. I watched as Ava's face became sullen.

I was about to say something when she turned towards me with a large smile plastered on her face. For an instance I froze. How can her smile be so mesmerizing but I always knew she was a gorgeous one with a big mouth. Her smile was contagious.

I couldn't help but smile back.

"Mason?"

" Yes"

"I'm glad I met you"

Those words were music too my ears as I said

"You better be" as my smile became brighter.
