Episode 13

"Go back to your room. Don't worry, I have my eyes at your back, sweetie." After I said that, Mexica started to walk away from the room. She was having a second-thoughts when she eyed Mr. K but I smiled at her for assurance that I will be safe. Once again, she looked at me before closing the door of the room.

Justin returned with a cup of tea, a traditional tea in China we used to drink, and give it to Mr. K. He even thanked Justin like he was a good old man to his kids. "Ah, this is good." He complimented and took a sip again.

I give myself a seat and crossed my legs, wide arms on the corner of the couch, and asked him. "Can we get into business now? Why are you here." That doesn't sound like a question but a command rather.

"Well, I just like to visit how's my friend doing so far after our negotiations." He smirked at me, letting me know that it was about Mexica whom he was talking about. He must've thought that I couldn't handle Mexica's attitude just like he used to before.

I smirked and pour myself a wine. "I'm good, actually. Mexica's good to me, too. She's not stubborn as it may seem."

After I said that, I gestured my wine glass at him and drank it straight. Then, I put it back on the table and clasp my hands, resting it on my crossed legs. "She's... not stubborn as it may seem?" He repeated like I was being sarcastic.

I remained serious. "Yes. She's good to me as I am being good at her." That was not a lie, though. She's good at me minutes ago. That's counted. Don't count the previous days where she was giving me a hard time. Let's be optimistic.

"That's... good. Good. I thought you're having a hard time controlling her."

I cock my head and give him a boastful face. "I'm always domineering. Who's the odd one who can't control? No one except me."

He barked a laugh and gave me a thumbs up. "Yes, yes, I know that. That's why I entrusted you her, Mexica. You're good."

I faked a smile and gestured my wine glass again for a drink. Instead of wine, he clanks me his cup of tea, and both of us drank it straight. He complimented again that he was made good. "Where did you get this? It's really good."

I didn't answer him. "Why are you here? You're not here for a cup of tea if I'm not mistaken."

He gulped and waved both of his palms. "I'm really here to give you a surprise visit. That's it."

I suspiciously eyed his body movements. Sure enough, he almost got me with his alibi. Almost. Because I know there was something with his smile. He wasn't here to kill a maid nor asked me about Mexica. He was here for something. Surprisingly, it didn't take a minute after that talk. Mr. K bid us goodbyes after drinking his cup of tea. That was fast enough. And it's getting suspicious.

I let Justin handle the rest of the matter as I was still drinking the bottle of wine. Alcohol didn't take my system. Fuck these genes, I don't want to be sober.

"We handle the body of our workers. However, Mr. K insisted that he should take care of the dead body. He said there will be a person who will take care of it and will be coming straight in our mansion."

I am more than pissed. This old man is getting into my nerves and with one click, I will burst. But I composed myself. "Who?" I asked, breaking the bones in my leg because it's still morning and I'm already distressed.

"He didn't mention. He said it's a surprise."

Fuck with his surprises.

"Tighten security. If you saw anyone suspicious. Kill him." If it's his man, then let's just take it as repayment for what he had done to my innocent worker.

"Copy that," Justin responded and went to his duties. Could have been this day got worsen, I didn't know not until the clock strikes four.

As I was heading to Mexica's room, my phone vibrated. It was a text coming from Justin.

Justin:

Mr. K's man arrived.

I didn't respond to his text and slid it into my pocket instead. Knocking three times on the door, there was no response. Knowing this will happen, I entered the password of Mexica's door and went inside. Surprisingly, she wasn't there. Where is that madwoman?

I locked the door and went downstairs. I heard some whispers coming from the alley in the backyard. Curious, I went there and tried as much as possible to hide. Wait, why am I hiding? This is my house, they should be the ones who will hide.

Hypocrisy at its finest. I hide on the wall when I saw Mexica's figure... together with a man. I was about to break the silence but came to a halt when I recognized the man.

It was Vaughn. The person whom I hated so much in childhood.

Vaugh and Mexica, they were looking at each other with so much pleasure in their eyes. It was awkward yet satisfying if I were to describe the atmosphere they were in. And I hated it.

I hated it to the point I still managed to hold myself back to hear their conversation. This is their first encounter after years of getting separated.

"Vaughn..." Mexica whispered softly. Why can't she speak like that with my name?

"Mexica?" Vaughn answered in surprise. He fixed his white cap. He was wearing a black t-shirt and white pants, and converse sneakers. Based on his clothing, he doesn't seem to have a good life and struggling for a living. Was he the one Mr. K'' referring to a surprise? If yes, then he must've known it before coming here that Vaughn and Mexica were my precious childhood friends.

I turned my fist into balls. I knew it. He's plotting something. He already found my weakness. He didn't visit to have a cup of tea.

It was all an act.

Killing my innocent maid, his alibi's, and this time, he wanted to confirm things. He already did. He knew it from the very start. Now, that added up my desire to kill him with my own hands. It's a pleasure for him that I'll kill him with my own hands, fucking bastard.

"Why are you here?" Vaughn asked, still in a state of shock. Yeah, the innocent type of guy, she likes that.

Mexica chuckled, and I knew it already, that I'm defeated. Her smile reached into her eyes for the first time. Her laugh sounds genuine this time for ages. She suddenly grabs Vaughn's shoulders and hugs him tightly. "Finally..."

Vaughn didn't answer. I could only see his back from my perspective.

"Easy, I have to do a job here."

"Can't you mention it for a moment? I just miss you so much. You've grown enough."

Vaughn chuckled, still hugging Mexica. Fuck.

Mexica asked, "I thought we're not going to reunite again. I mean, I've never thought about this scene where I'll see you in person. You were living far away from me, a half distance of the globe to be exact, and the chances are thin. But... but... you're here... God, this is so unreal." Mexica tightened her hug to Vaughn.

The sight kills me. Dead. Hard.

I was suffocating while looking at them if that's possible to explain. This is painful to my eyes. I have to break them right now. But I couldn't be knowing that this is their reunion, let's just take it like that. Even though it's killing me and making me jealous. I admit it, shamefully.

Mexica didn't act like that when we first met. Instead, she acts like she didn't know me. While looking at them, her, hugging Vaughn tightly, I couldn't help but hurt my ego. She's all smile and genuinely happy while they started to talk with each other like the closeness they once had in childhood didn't fade. It was still there. They were talking without awkwardness, now. She chuckled every time Vaughn told something that wasn't even funny for me (my jokes were even better).

I think I've seen the Mexica whom I knew in childhood right now. The pure one, good person, always responsible, not the bitchy-ass when we were together.

"So are you married?" Vaughn finally asked her.

She smiled widely and present to him her fingers without a wedding ring.a "Absolutely not."

Vaughn smiled widely. "That's a deal."

Deal, my ass. I wouldn't let you get my woman. I started to walk towards them. Pardon me for spoiling your little reunion, but I have to get a grip with my woman.

"She's not married but she will be Mrs. Tinerv soon," I said and grab Mexica's waist towards me. She protested but no one could resist my strength. After all, with her tiny body, she's a woman. "It's nice to see you, Mr. Castillo." Vaughn was shocked when he saw me appeared in the middle of their talk. I present my hand to offer a hand shake. I raised an eyebrow when he didn't took it.

Then that's a deal, let the game begins.
