Episode 12

"What?" The drowsiness Grace felt was suddenly lost and her husband woke up in shock.

"Where's the fire?" She heard her father ask.

"Are you out of your mind?" Her mother nearly screamed on the phone.

"I'm actually sober and my eyes are wide awake," she roll her eyes.

"I thought--"

"I told you, I'll call later. Bye, ma," she ended the call and quickly call Hayden.

"Sarmento." He answered on the first ring.

"Hayden, we need to talk."

"Reinne?" Hayden glance at the caller name.

"Do you have time today?" Reinne grab her bag and place her wallet, phone and keys inside.

"I got thirty minutes before I head to another meeting. Why?"

"That's enough," She dash to her car and quickly place it on reverse. "Which office are you?"

"The plant."

"Be there in a few."

Hayden glance at his phone. She drop on him again. It’s starting to become a habit.

"Lily," He called his secretary on the intercom.

"Yes, sir?"

"Schedule the meeting with Viscom and assist Miss Lacson to the office when she arrived."

"Yes, sir."

Reinne quickly park her car and rush inside the building. She mutter a quick hi's and hello's to her co-employees or should she say employees? who were shock to see her.

"Miss Reinne?"

She look back to see Lily walking towards her. Reinne pressed the up button on the elevator.

"Lily, what are you doing on the ground floor?"

"Mr. Sarmento is waiting for you," Lily assisted her in the elevator.

"I can go up on my own."

Lily nod. "I know. It just so happen that I went down to grab lunch."

"At 2 o'clock?"

"Yep."

Reinne watch the numbers roll and her co-workers enter the elevator and great her.

"Judith," She called the person who just entered the elevator.

"Miss Lacson," The petite blonde woman greeted her with a nod.

"How's the factory while I was gone?"

"It missed its bossy boss.” She let out a chuckle and wave her off when she drop off on her floor. The ride to the top floor was silent. The top floor has only one door and it’s the CEO's office.

"Just head inside. His waiting for you." Lily told her. Reinne sent her a grateful look before knocking on the door.

"Come in."

Hayden look up from his papers when he sense her entering the room.

"That was fast," It was the first thing he said when she entered. That was fast? He reprimanded himself. In his defense, that was the first thing that came to his mind. How could he not be distracted, when she came in a beige shorts, white crop top, blue cardigan and beige Topsiders.

"There was no traffic," she said not knowing Hayden's internal struggle.

"Sorry for not replying to your message earlier. I was in a meeting," Hayden nod and gestured to her to sit on the chair in front of him. "Did you came here directly from the airport?"

"No, I've arrived an hour ago." She sigh and sat on the chair. "It's okay. I must be an important meeting."

He nodded. "It was with the CEO of San Lorenzo Brewery. So, how was the trip?"

She gasp. "You got the deal with the CEO?"

Hayden nods and smiled with her enthusiasm. "Enough about the meeting. How was the trip?" He asked again.

"It was tiring," She said and got down to business. "Anyways, about the will..."

As much as he want to talk to her about anything, they unfortunately have to talk about the elephant in the room. "What about it?"

"I'll accept it." He heard a silent but from her.

"Great, so what's the problem?"

Reinne look at him and his stormy eyes which captivated her as always. "I'm going to sell it afterwards."

"Okay...What?" Geez, he and mama had the same expression, Reinne thought. "What do you mean sell it?"

"Just how it means. To sell it."

"To whom?" Hayden glared at her. She better give him a correct answer or she's going to regret accepting the will.

"To you."

"What?" Hayden swear this woman is confusing him.

Reinne let out a sigh. "I told you, I'll accept the will, right?" Hayden nod. "After it is named to me, I'll sell it to you."

Hayden got the whole point. "Why? You sound so sure when we talked last time."

"Well, I just realized that I'm not totally in it. I'm having this doubts. As much as I love my grandfather, I can't do business. I can't even negotiate with my brothers, how much more with billions of dollars on the line?"

"So, your saying..."

Reinne sigh. "I was -- am hoping that you will accept my proposal."

Hayden rest his elbows on his table. "So, you mean to say that you will accept and sign the transfer of the plant but you will sell it afterwards to me. Won't it cause confusion?"

"I... I haven't thought of that."

Hayden glance at her face. Those warm chocolate eyes refuse to look at him and find his chair more interesting. He sigh when he felt frustration. "I'll talk to the lawyer first and then I'll get back to you."

Reinne nod at him. "Thank you for considering."

"No problem."

Reinne slowly left his office before heaving out a big sigh. That turned out different than what she expected. All that is left to wait for Hayden's and his lawyer's answer.

"So, what was it?"

Reinne let out a yelp when Lily, suddenly asked her out of know where.

"Are you okay?" Lily asked, appearing beside her.

"Stop, scaring people like that!" Reinne snap at her.

Lily roll her eyes. "So, what did you and Mr. Sarmento talked about? It must be important, considering that he cancelled his meeting with Viscom."

"Wait. Viscom? As in the semiconductor company Viscom?"

Lily nod. "The one and only. Mind you, it was hard scheduling a meeting with them again."

"Why?" Reinne is confused with Hayden's actions. Viscom is the number one semiconductor company in the whole continent. Their main office is located in the Silicon Valley, which said to have the most prestigious semiconductor companies all over the world.

"Why do you think I'm asking you?" Lily shrug. "You just went in and had a talk with him just now. Am I right?"

Reinne nod and left the building in daze. She curse herself down to the ninth ring of hell. This series of events happening to her one after the other is making her anxious.
