Chapter 12

YANI

I could hear the birds chirping outside my window and at the same time the sunlight hit my face. It's morning. I got up immediately and went straight to the CR to get ready but when I saw what I looked like in the mirror…

What I look now: sleepless. Why did I not sleep well last night?

“Oh Yani. Good Morning,” he greeted back. Great. He’s a really handsome robot but it is obvious on his face that he is tired. Maybe he was sleeping earlier.

"Uhm, are you okay?" I asked.

“Yes I am. Just a little sleepy,” he replied while yawning.

"Uhm you slept late?"

“Yeah. Got a lot of work to do,” and scratched his eye.

Don’t worry. Same. “Uhm you can rest for now if you want. We can move this tomorrow,” I said. I also want to sleep.

“No it's fine. My battery is about 3/4 full so I'll be okay.”

“So, you're good to go? You haven't forgotten anything?”

"Uhm yes uhh prince…"

He smiled at me. "Aes is okay."

We walked out of the Main Cabin on a metal road and we also stopped in front of a large metal door but when we stopped, and because Prince Aes was ahead, someone scanned him.

The metal door also opened immediately when Prince Aes entered and I was about to enter but it closed immediately.

"The prince permitted you to go in," said the scanner.

I was speechless and still dumbfounded by what had happened. I still stiffened in my area because of the guns. I thought I was done.

"So welcome to the Metal Cabin Yani, which we also call 'home factory'."

It looks like a Main Cabin that is also a city inside a big building but the only difference here is, it is a factory. Everything is made of metal; plants, animals, houses and of course the people living in it.

"So since you're not a metal person and in order for you not to get tired easily, we will ride… here," he pointed at our feet.

I looked at it but wondered because it was just a metal floor. When Prince Aes pressed his arm, the metal suddenly rose to our feet which surprised me. Whoah. The floor became a floating platform. Cool.

“You see metal people use rockets on their backs or on their feet to travel around here.”

He pressed something again so the metal platform on which we were riding moved. Good thing it’s not like the platform in the Electric Cabin which is super fast.

He mentioned the famous places you know, the Metal hospital, the Metal Academy and their restaurants and houses but of course they are also different and more than I thought.

The truth is that all metal people are actually people you know, “made of human flesh” at first but once you control the metal element and you enter their academy, they will make you a metal person. First, they say, they will turn your blood into oil and then gradually they will replace the flesh inside you with metal. I asked if it hurts but actually for people who really control the metal, it doesn't hurt.

We went to a big room where there was a big machine in the middle and there were people around it. I was amazed at the place.

“It's complicated to explain how it works but simply it relies on mechanical energy. And just like any other machine, it's an 'on and off' device and we use a key to do that.”

“Ah. Wait, let me guess, as the prince you keep the key?” I will ask.

"Yes," I'm really good. "Very clever but it's a secret where I keep it."

Ring, Ring, phone interrupted. He answered it immediately.

“Prince Aes here... Yes… Oh sure. Like what?... Oh wait. I'll check,” and he stood up to the door next to his office. Of course, he’s a prince. What else is new.

After 30 minutes... he’s still not here. I just sighed in my seat. That's too much.

I looked at the door out of his office. Hmm, maybe I can stroll around for a while. I approached the door in case it opened but nothing happened. It was really controlled by a machine. I looked around every corner so I could see where the source was.

"Miss, how can I help you?" the talking machine asked.

Ay palaka! (Filipino expression: Oh a frog!) I was surprised and immediately stood up straight. “Huh? Uhm I… I'm going out,” I stammered in response.

"Is there anything you need?"

Don't ask. Just let me out. This is why I don't like talking machines.

"Well uhm Prince Aes don't want me here so I need to get out," I said. I’m so bad at lying. I made Prince Aes look even worse. I'm sorry.

I did not expect the door to open immediately. Wow. It believed me. I immediately ran out of his palace. Whew. Thank goodness. I thought I also had machines to go through.

I thought I could run away from the bad looks of people when touring in this cabin because my hair is black just like them but why do others still look badly of me? What is that, they also have a scanner in their eyes? That scanner is annoying. That's probably the thing I hate the most in this place.

I looked at the salesman's face who was seriously looking back at me, as if his eyes were saying 'You're caught!'

There were three metal girls surrounding a girl sitting on the floor and one of the 3 metal girls, her hand turned into a gun and aimed it at the poor girl on the floor.

And the poor girl is the girl who gave me money earlier and if I see it right, she looks like a victim of bullying.

“Wait, I don't have any money left. Please let me go,” she pleaded. This is not good. I need to help her.

"You should have thought of that before you gave that money," they were about to pull the trigger but...

"HEY! STOP WHAT YOU THREE ARE DOING!” I shouted so I got their attention.

They all turned to where I was standing. "Who do you think you are?" the metal girl in the middle with the right hand as a gun asked. I think she’s the leader.

“Uhm it doesn't matter if you know me. Stop bullying her,” I firmly said.

“What? Are you even related to one another?” she asked with sass.

"Uhm..." I just looked at the nice girl. Just great. I am here to save nice girl but what am I supposed to do?! What a waste of my grand entrance.

“So… what?” she asked again with sass.

"Uhm I'm her friend," I said highly. “If anyone tries to hurt her will have to go through me first.”

“Oh really. Girls!” said their leader and then her fellow girls’ hands turned to water guns and pointed at me.

"Pfftt hahaha," I laughed. Are you kidding me? That's their defense, water? Hahaha. I still thought what gun they will use against me, but that's it, just a water gun? Hahaha.

"What's funny?" the girl asked in astonishment.

“Hahaha. So that's it? Water gun?” I asked while laughing.

“Don't underestimate it. Don't you know what will happen to metal when it will be hit with water?”

I stopped laughing and composed myself. Shacks. Why didn't I think of that? I was almost caught. They may even notice me but wait, why don't they know that I am not a metal girl? Do they not have an eye scanner?

I just thought about what to do and looked around us. When I saw some metal behind them…

Light bulb! I controlled the metal things and they were surprised when the metal flew towards me but when I finished sticking them together, they looked at each other before laughing.

“Oh no, it's the other way around. 3 medium-sized balls full of water will come out of here. And when I will pull this trigger, those balls will explode exactly at your faces.”

When I said that, the three of them were surprised. “You've got to be kidding.”

“Oh no I'm not. Do you want to see it for yourself? ” still smirking I said.

They just looked at each other.

"1..." I began to count.

"Is she serious?"

"...3," I would have pulled the trigger but...

Fortunately, they thought of running away. I just sighed because honestly,

"Posible ba yun? (Is that possible?)" I said while looking at my little gun. “Tatlong bola na puno ng tubig lalabas dito? Well, at least gumana at naniwala naman sila. (Three balls full of water will come out of here? Well, at least they worked and they believed me)”

"Wait..." said the metal girl so I looked at her. Oh right, the nice metal girl, the one they bullied earlier.

“Oh I'm sorry. I was having fun that I forgot about you,” I smiled.

"Pilipino ka po? (Are you Filipino?)"

“Huh? Ah oo— (Ah yes—)” I stopped and was surprised. “Sandali, nag-Filipino ka. (Wait, you spoke Filipino)”

"Pilipino ka nga po, (You are indeed a Filipino)" she smiled.

"Ikaw din? (You also?)"

“Opo. Ganun na nga. (Yes. That's right)”

“Wow. This is surprising. By the way, I’m Yani,” I introduced myself immediately and offered my hand.

"Hera," and we shook hands.

"Yani, let's go," Prince Aes called.

“Okay Hera. Bye,” I said goodbye and I walked away.

"Yani!" Hera shouted so I stopped and looked at her.

"I-I'll wait for you here," she replied.

I was slightly surprised by the answer before I smiled, gave her a thumbs up and waved. She smiled back at me and waved as well.

When we arrived at the Main Cabin, Prince Aes also left while I went straight to my room. I changed my clothes and sat on the bed.

I met another Filipina and what’s good, she’s a robot, but unfortunately, she has no friends, and a victim of bullying. I hope she’s okay.

He did not say a word and let out a sigh and turned around and walked away.

"Wa-wait, you won't hurt me?" I asked.

"You’re the only one who saw it," he replied as he walked away.

Thank goodness. But what kind of question is that Yani? Are you really just a masochist? Well what can you say. That's how I got to know him.

"So uhm where are you going now?" I asked as I followed him. "Uhm will you play again?" He did not speak. "Can I watch?" He suddenly stopped and turned to me.

He stopped again after I said that at the same time he turned to me and slowly approached me while I backed away until I leaned against the tree. Oh my gash! What is happening?!

"Try to follow me again because I'm sure I will continue what I was supposed to do before, understand?" he threatened.

I was speechless. Huhu. I know that. Blame it on my body because it has its own mind. But deep down, I knew I really needed to make this request.

“Uhm o-okay. I will stay away from you but in one condition,” I replied trembling.

He was slightly surprised. “Just sing my requested song with an instrument and then I will really avoid you. Promise,” I requested.

He just gave me a serious look. "Do you think I will do what you want?"

“Please, just this once. This is really important to me,” I insisted.

He did not say a word and still did not lose his serious face. "Aren't you afraid of me?"

"Who said you are not scary?" I asked back which surprised him. Because of the change in his face, it looked strained but I smiled.

"Me," I answered my own question. “I think I am no longer afraid of you. I don't know how but it has something to do with you flicking my forehed. Weird though but why are you doing that? ”

He didn’t answered what I said and just distanced from me and turned away.

"It's okay even if you threaten me or you intend to kill me but I will still follow you as long as you do not fulfill my simple request."

He just turned his back on me and I took that opportunity to swallow because the truth of that, what’s in my mind right now…

What am I talking about? Me? No longer afraid of him? Well technically I feel like I'm not really scared but let's just say because I'm maybe used to it but I really said all that just for my request. It's so important.
