Episode 8

* present*

Meher sighed as she saw her favourite couple falling apart once again. She loved Abyad as a brother and enjoyed Aayat's personality but now it would be difficult to stand in the same room as them. She felt guilty of not sticking up to Abyad but she was helpless, as all the proofs were against him and she knew that once Aayat calmed down, she would eventually see Abyad's innocence. Meher chose to stay by Aayat's side as she knew Abyad could handle himself, however, she could not help but wonder how she would help him, for she knew everything that went on his life and that was including the blackmailing scandal he was currently facing. She remembers the first time these two had fallen apart, back then it was Aayat's stupidity and Abyad's stubbornness that kept them away and she managed to bring them back together after months.

Meher's p.o.v

I knew Aayat for the past six months, she was a complete bundle of joy. She used to hang out with a girl named Zinat, so I barely knew her then but from the start of this year she became silent and calm, her smile never seemed to reach her eyes and her hair looked completely neglected. For a girl who was always preoccupied with her hair, this was a first. She became skinny as she stopped eating properly, she lost herself in a load of work assigned to her. She was weakening herself. There was one day where she almost fell unconscious in the lab. The college doctor said that this was due to lack of food and sleep and asked me to try to talk to her. From what I knew was that she was in love with a guy named Abyad. I heard so much praise about him from her. Maybe he would be able to talk some sense into her. So, the next day, during lunch break, I took her phone and contacted Abyad, but the latter refused to pick up, assuming that it was Aayat calling him, he rejected all of them. Therefore, I decided to contact him on my phone.

Abyad: yes?

Me: Assalamualaikum, am I speaking to Abyad?

Abyad: Walaikumsalam, yes this is me, how did you get m number?

Me: I was the one contacting you from Aayat's phone.

Abyad: Oh, and may I know why?

Me: yes, can you meet me at the cafeteria?

Abyad: sure, my lunchbreak starts in thirty minutes, if you are free, we can meet over there.

Me: done

I cut the phone and turned my attention to Aayat who was resting her head on the desk for a while, I presumed she was taking a nap, or she passed out due to exhaustion. I stroked her hair and promised to fix her. I wanted her to be the way she was when I first met her. I signed Rabia to stay with Aayat while I was gone. Though I know these two spend most of their time fighting with each other, I know that they deeply care about each other.

I walked into the cafeteria to bump into someone, he was tall and dark and there was a small smirk that formed on his face. I rolled my eyes and pushed him away. I intended to apologize but it seemed like he was happy that I bumped into him. I called Abyad to be able to recognize him. After searching for about 5 minutes, I managed to find him, he was sitting next to the guy that I bumped into. I walked up to their table and addressed him; "Hi, I am Meher," I said as I took a seat. "And I am Abyad, so what is it?" he asked curiously. "do you mind if we talk in private?" I asked feeling a little uncomfortable because of his friend. "What's wrong? If it is about Aayat he knows everything" he informed. I sighed and continued "yeah it is about her, she is destroying herself, she stopped eating, she barely sleeps, and she is a mess. She keeps on passing out if she continues like that, she might eventually kill herself, look I don't know what happened between you two but for all I know is that she needs you. She is punishing herself for her broken relationship with you and Zinat. Please talk to her, she cannot keep on like this." The two of them listened to me attentively, as soon as realization downs into them, Abyad's friend rush out of the cafeteria. As for Abyad, he was doing his best to hold back his emotions, but his eyes betrayed him. I could see that he still loved her, but something was stopping him, and I don't know what that was. I placed a hand on his shoulder, "from what I see you both still love each other and whoever broke up must have something big that lead to this, please talk it out. If you cannot bring yourself to be the person, she loves then at least be there for her as a friend." I suggested before leaving him.

I returned to class to see Abyad's friend trying to get Aayat to eat. A frustrated Rabia was threatening to hit Aayat with her shoes if she refused to eat again. I smiled seeing this she was lucky to have people who cared this much for her.
