Episode 4

I closed my eyes with my fingers crossed and concentrated. And slowly, a small shard of ice started forming right in the palm of my hands. It gradually started growing bigger and bigger.

"Aahhhh!!!" I opened my eyes and shouted at the top of my lungs.

That very second, the shard dashed straight towards the noise. It managed to hit the one which was the lion. The noise whimpered as the shard pierced through the skin on its leg.

"Yes!!!" I squealed as I pumped my fists.

"Oh my goodness! You did it!" Momoi praised me while casting a spell that darted towards the shark.

"Thanks!" I replied, still overjoyed about the fact that I managed to actually attack right.

I was extremely thrilled. It felt so good to have powers and to be able to use them in battle. It was still really overwhelming to accept the situation I'm in, but at the same time, it's really fun.

I was busy having my moment until someone just had to ruin it.

"Stop standing there and start fighting! A single shot doesn't mean that the battle is over you know!" Tokiya insulted.

He just had to say that. I mean I am really sorry I hurt him that way but he's starting to cross the line again. He really hates me and I hate him in return.

(Urrghh, this is so frustrating. Why do I have to be stuck with such an annoying, hot-headed jerk?!)

All I could do was forget about him and continue fighting.

After a long, exhausting battle, we finally managed to defeat all of them...

"That was surprisingly easy." I spoke while playing with my ice powers.

"I know. But remember, this only means things are going to get tougher..." Momoi whispered as she put her pin inside her pocket.

"Oh right. Hehe..." I smiled wryly, scratching the back of my head with my hand.

"Don't you think it's about time we start finding the jewel now? We only have 10 hours left and Central Park is huge. Plus they're a lot of street vendors here which sell gold and jewelry." Nagi informed all of us and pointed inside Central Park to show all the vendors.

"But I'm exhausted." I whined.

"If we finish the mission quickly, you would just have more time to rest. It's common sense..." Tokiya, again, had to give one of his stupid remarks.

I was so fed up with this. But I wasn't able to do anything. So, again, I just tried ignoring him and just forgetting about it.

"Fine then. Come on! What are you all waiting for?" I asked and rushed inside Central Park.

We all went inside and started searching immediately. The worst part was, we decided to split up and go with...our partner...! I honestly didn't even want to split up in the first place but Momoi said it would make things easier. So, in the end, I ended up agreeing.

(Uurrghh!!! Why is life so unfair?!)

I thought as I slowly walked behind Tokiya. I looked up and realized that he was already way far ahead and didn't care to slow down for me. So, I had to run to catch up with him

"........"

"........"

We both searched around the place without saying a word to each other. It was such an awkward silence and the atmosphere felt terrible.

"Umm... Tokiya, how's your injury...?" I asked, trying to break the silence between us.

"........" He said absolutely nothing and just turned his head the other way.

"Look, umm... How do I say this... I'm sorry about what I did earlier... I just got angry, and my powers acted up. I really didn't mean to hurt you. And I know you're still mad at me, but I just hope you'll forgive me somehow..." I decide to be the one to apologize although I was mad at him too.

But I wanted him to know that honestly speaking, I was really sorry about what I did.

"......." Tokiya again said nothing. He just kept walking without uttering a single word to me.

Momoi's POV

"Nagi. There's something I need to talk about with you," I spoke as we both searched for the cursed jewel.

"Huh? What is it Momoi?" Nagi asked while walking in front of me, his hands crossed behind his head.

"Do you think that Tokiya and that girl would actually be good partners together? I mean, they both have had a really rough start together and they hate each other right now. I'm just afraid because of one of them... the other could get in...danger..." I muttered in a serious tone.

"Oh, you mean that? *Sigh* I know, I've been wondering about it too, lately. One of their hatred towards the other could cause them to meet the end..." Nagi understood exactly what I meant by that.

I was really worried since that could really happen if they don't manage to get along with each other soon.

"*Sigh* I guess we'll just have to hope for the best, right?" I tried to sound as positive as I could.

I just had to forget about all that for now.

"Yeah. And besides, we can't afford for it to happen!" Nagi turned around, a wide smile plastered across his face.

As we ended that conversation, we saw something really odd.

Amongst a pile of beautiful gold and jewelry, there laid a dull jewel. It was colored black with a tint of crimson to it.

"Nagi. Look." I said, pointing towards the peculiar object.

"Oh, that must be the cursed jewel!" Nagi yelled as he rushed towards it.

I followed behind. Just as Nagi was about to pick it up, a hand slapped his, preventing him from picking up the jewel.

"Not for sale," An old woman's voice rang from behind the jewelry box.

"But we have to take it!" Nagi exclaimed but the woman wouldn't take anything for an answer.

"I said, not for sale!" The woman shouted, indicating that she was getting angry.

"Ma'am, you don't understand. This is a life or death situation," I explained, trying to make her agree to lend us the jewel.

"Heh, you young teenagers exaggerate so much... I'm sure this isn't as serious as death." the woman muttered as she took the jewel kit and walked away.

"Urrghh! What are we supposed to do now?" Nagi whined as he sat on a nearby bench and started thinking.

Just then, an idea struck me.
