The Vylerriths along with the human and bodyguards went deeper into the dense forest.
No one dared speak, the only noises were the crunch of dried leaves under their footwear as they followed the trail and the occasional crackle of the radio.
They all came to a halt when they were nearing the mansion.
The other guards broke formation and made a beeline for the trees.
The woman named Lydia who was Olga's co-head stayed with the Vylerriths along with few other men.
The radio crackled again, this time; Olga was the one to speak.
"Kyschparov 01, Status?" Olga asked through the radio, although her voice was somewhat distorted. Her tone reeked of command and sternness.
"6 klicks from the destination, Dermietvch 02 and 03 are now in position. Awaiting orders." Lydia responded, slinging her M16 in her shoulders.
"Charlie Mike. Hide your radio." Olga replied.
"Roger-Tango." Lydia gave a brief nod at the Vylerriths and started moving. "Oscar-Mike." Was all Lydia said to the radio before it went dead again and this time, instead of tucking it in her pockets. Lydia buried the radio deep inside her bra.
Rivaleon gave her an amused look and Arkyn gave Rivaleon an even more amused look.
Minutes later, they arrived in front of a large clearing. The perimeter is secured by tall iron fences, and a mansion was located right at the center of the clearing.
They walked closer until they were in front of the gigantic closed mahogany doors.
Ishtar and Yurriehl along with both of the guards went inside first, to get inspected.
"Hey," Rivaleon said, sleekly ensnaring his hands with Arkyn's own. "Just keep your cool. That'll soon be finished."
Arkyn relaxed a little.
"But if things don't go as planned, I just wanted you to know that I love you, even if we still haven't completed the mating process and all. I know you don't feel the connection yet, but if we get out of this alive. Promise me, you'll be mine forever." Rivaleon said, grinning.
"Real comforting," Arkyn replied a look of horror painted on his face which made Rivaleon burst into laughter.
"Look at you getting all sappy." Arkyn teased, pinching Rivaleon's cheek. "But, If I'm being honest. I don't really feel the same as you." Arkyn admitted, making the incubi's shoulder sag and his grip loosen while his tail stopped wagging enthusiastically.
Arkyn's eyes widened, realizing his words may have been too harsh. "B-But! I'm sure I'll come to learn how to love you, y'know with the bond and all that jazz." Arkyn tried to reassure Rivaleon.
This time, Rivaleon completely let go of Arkyn's hand, his eyes full of dejection. "So you'll only love me because the connection told you to?"
"I didn't have a choice didn't I?" Arkyn narrowed his eyes. "Otherwise I'll get shipped off to the Czech Republic where my human rights will get violated until your men are bored. Emphasis on human." Arkyn said, making Rivaleon gulp.
"I thought you wanted me too?" Rivaleon asked desperately.
"I did. Because your parents asked me to." Arkyn answered coldly.
Lydia gave a worried look at both of the boys, as Arkyn now looked annoyed and Rivaleon looked dejected. She decided to both give them some space and entered the mansion.
Arkyn only wanted the poor incubi's money and Rivaleon was willing to give anything just to have Arkyn.
'B-But...He was getting along with my parents! That's right, he must really love if he's putting some effort to get mum and dad to like him!' Rivaleon thought, giving himself some hope.
'Maybe he's just testing me if I can put up with him! HAHAHAHA, That's right. How cute, my little human is just testing me. After all, we were so happy back in the yacht and all those days.' Rivaleon spoke to himself.
Rivaleon was now filled with hope and courage. Determination rushing in his system to prove himself wrong that his mate doesn't want him.
"Say...Were all of those cold nights we spent cuddling just an act?" Rivaleon asked, hope lacing his tone as his eyes shone with anticipation for the answer no.
"Yes."
Rivaleon's eyes stung, his stomach tying themselves like a knot. He felt his heart begin to be clogged with blood as his whole body turned numb.
But he was a fighter. He has always been. A good lover must be a good fighter.
"Was all those hot nights we spent kissing each other passionately and expressing intimacy was also an act?"
"Yes. Always has been." Arkyn said nonchalantly, his eyes showing no emotions.
This was far from the Arkyn Rivaleon knew. He tried to convince himself that Arkyn was still testing him, or that Arkyn suffered from SPD.
"W-Why?" Rivaleon croaked out, his wide eyes brimming with tears.
Arkyn turned to look at the incubus, glaring holes at Rivaleon. "Why you ask?" Arkyn spat.
"Listen here. I only agreed on keeping you happy for the money." Arkyn said. "Sure, at first I was having fun, but this is just so fucking ridiculous! I don't know what the fuck you're always smoking but this has seriously got to stop. Is this my life now? Being forced to be together with a demon who I don't even have feelings for? Putting my life in the line just to attend this good for nothing gathering!?" Arkyn shouted angrily.
Rivaleon only remained quiet, hugging himself as he kept his head lowered.
"You're pathetic. Forcing someone to be with you because you felt an attraction towards them. I may not have studied how your kind words, but in my world. We don't fucking threaten those we like by saying we'll send them to a gulag if they don't marry us." Arkyn continued.
"I thought you understood my position," Rivaleon said sadly.
"I tried to."
"Because I'm loaded with money?" Rivaleon asked, finally looking up to meet Arkyn's gaze.
"Yes." Arkyn's glare only grew more intense.
"What can I do for you to love me back?" Rivaleon asked, looking desperately at Arkyn.
Arkyn gave Rivaleon a disgusted look.
Arkyn swiped Rivaleon's leg, making the incubus fall. And, before the incubus could stand up; the human stepped on the demon's chest to prevent him from rising.
"I won't love something along with the likes of you, just because something as stupid as being soulmates told me to." Arkyn's teeth gritted.
"Because of you. I'll never be with him ever again!" Arkyn shouted angrily. Kicking Rivaleon's ribs.
Rivaleon yelped in pain. Not knowing which one was more painful. Arkyn's kick or his soulmate's confession of wanting to be with someone else.
"You infuriate me! Ruining my future just so you can ensure yours will end with a happy ending!" Arkyn seethed. Kicking Rivaleon's ribs continuously until the satisfying crack of bones was heard.
"I hope you die." Arkyn turned on his heels to walk away.
With one last burst of determination, the incubus grabbed the human's ankle, just enough to not make Arkyn fall.
"P-Please don't replace me!" Rivaleon cried out. He was scared that his soulmate was doing this to him just so Arkyn can be with someone else. But he fears more that his thoughts were right.
"You never had a place in my heart anyway." With one last cold glare, Arkyn kicked the incubi's hand off of him and walked away.
"I see," Rivaleon muttered, as he finally let all hope and tears come out of him
