Episode 6

Morning peaked through the mansion's large windows as Arkyn stirred in his sleep.

Finally, he woke up. Sitting up and lazily rubbing his eyes, Arkyn stood up and slipped his feet inside his fluffy slippers.

Over the years, Rivaleon has picked up several skills, making a comfy slipper is one of them.

He knew humans, especially his mate was more prone and vulnerable to cold.

So he made a slipper for Arkyn! It took Rivaleon 20 hours to make a comfortable pair of slippers for Arkyn, but it was definitely worth it. Seeing his mate so happy that his feet won't have to put up with the cold floor anymore, made Rivaleon as equally happy.

On his way downstairs, Arkyn was greeted by several maids, calling him 'young master'.

'Weird, Why didn't I see them last night?' Arkyn wondered. As he explored the halls, he eventually ended up in the dining room, greeting Ishtar.

"Goodmorning."

Ishtar looked up and smiled sweetly, replying a good morning to Arkyn. Her hair was now tied up in a stylish neat bun, her lavender hair shone every time the sun made contact with it.

"Rivaleon's outside, shooting pigeons with his father," Ishtar said, shaking her head disapprovingly. "Would you like a Pigeon Pie my dear?" Ishtar asked, it took all of her willpower to not vomit at the thought.

Arkyn only gave a disgusted face and mumbled a small no, though it was loud enough for Ishtar to hear.

Ishtar only laughed. "I believe you and I are gonna get along just fine."

Easing up to Ishtar, Arkyn decided to ask a question. "Like wild pigeons? I wouldn't be surprised if both of them get cholera." Arkyn said, disgusted at the thought.

Ishtar only snorted and laughed loudly. "No, no." She took a breath before continuing. "Yuri bought them from wherever and brought them here; to raise them only to kill them," Ishtar said

"Why not just buy clean pigeon meat?" Arkyn asked, it was easier to buy one rather than kill one and fillet it.

"Yuri's one sadistic little bastard," Ishtar said, smiling in amusement. "But I still love the guy, we're soulmates after all."

"Do you mind if I ask a personal question?" Arkyn started, and Ishtar responded by shaking her head.

"Do you only love each other because you're both soulmates?"

Ishtar looked at Arkyn for a moment and wondered. "Well, I don't think that's the case," Ishtar said, standing up to grab a sewing kit. "I believe the soulmate bond is only a way for a person to find their potential lifetime partner, then it's up to the individual if they're really for each other." Ishtar continued, sitting back down. "If you love the person, but you're not in love with them. Then, I don't see the point as to why you have stayed with them just because both of you are soulmates."

Arkyn nodded. "But wouldn't you get heartbroken if you did that?" Arkyn asked.

"You would, but someone would come along and fix you. That's how the world works, the world is not cruel; only unfair." Ishtar answered. "I think you should love someone for who they are, not because the soulmate crap urged you to," Ishtar said smiling, her eyes shining over the reflection of the sunlight.

"How would you know if both of you are really soulmates that were destined for each other?" Arkyn asked.

"The 7 Day Process of connecting your souls would figure that out," Ishtar answered. "Are you alright with your new life Arkyn?" Ishtar then asked.

Arkyn hummed in response. "Rivaleon's not so bad," Arkyn said, failing to hide his blush. "Sure, we might disagree at times. But, I don't think that's enough for me to resent him." Arkyn said, fiddling with a stray blonde lock.

"Arkyn." Ishtar held Arkyn's hands. "Thank you for choosing Rivaleon," Ishtar said, tears gleaming in her eyes.

"I wouldn't have a choice anyway." Arkyn joked. "But if I did, I won't change a single thing." The next thing Arkyn knew was Ishtar was hugging him tightly.

When Ishtar pulled away, she only grinned at Arkyn. "My my, Rivaleon is really lucky to have such a wonderful soulmate."

"It was right for me to not send off Rivaleon with that Mirasleava woman," Ishtar said which caused Arkyn to raise his eyebrows.

"Grab some snacks dear, I'm gonna spill some tea."

Hours passed by as Ishtar continuously dropped salacious events inside the supernatural race.

"And then, Javar slept with Jenaia's Sister! while his wife Jenaia was busy giving labor to their child. That's an example that soulmates are not always perfect." Ishtar said as she took a sip of her tea, shaking her head disapprovingly.

Arkyn also got involved, dropping gossips about Von la Tofana.

It wasn't until later, that the two incubi entered. Their hands bloody as they carried 4 big dead pigeons.

Ishtar and Arkyn automatically scrunched their noses up.

Ishtar stood up. "I'll go check on the lasagna." Yurriehl was about to speak up when Ishtar threw him a death-like glare.

Yurriehl only followed Ishtar into the kitchen, hoping his wife would make a pigeon pie.

Rivaleon, sat in Arkyn's lap as he wrapped his long slender legs around Arkyn's waist and smiled coyly at the human.

"You and mom huh?" Rivaleon asked, tilting his head and smiling.

It was now day 4 and they were only getting comfortable with each other. Although they would sometimes start intimate and passionate kisses here and there. Nothing as close to mating ever happened.

Their relationship was moving pretty fast. And neither of them felt overwhelmed. It felt right.

Arkyn only hugged Rivaleon more tightly as he felt the temperature go down several notches.

"The lasagna still needs time and your dad is making his disgusting pigeon pie," Ishtar said, coming out of the kitchen. By now the whole residence was filled with the aroma of Ishtar's lasagna along with Yurriehl's nasty pie. He didn't know how to cook, and after several minutes of him struggling. Ishtar finally decided to take over the kitchen. All it took for Ishtar to break was when Yurriehl cried after his pie turned into a burnt smelly mess.

When dinner was done, the older couple noticed how much poor Arkyn was shivering from the cold.

Yurriehl sighed. "I'll make you some pair of mittens." Yurriehl declared as he started knitting. Arkyn muttered a small thankyou.

Ishtar smiled "I forgot how cold it gets here during winter."

Ishtar also grabbed herself some tools and fabric, then smiled at Arkyn.

"Let's knit you some sweaters, Shall we?" Ishtar said, winking. "It's a family tradition."
