"Suravarma'' entered in to his sixteenth year. He was taught all the disciplines that were essential for one who was destined to rule a kingdom.
Oneday, the sage was taking bath along with his disciples in the stream that runs at the edge of the forest. At the moment two birds came and sat on the branch of a big tree near the stream.The birds started conversing among themselves.
The bird said, "What a pity. Here this great sage is taking bath along with his disciples they don't know that bunch of tigers crossed the stream and coming this way. If these people do not go away before they arrive, they will be killed inercilessly". The second bird responded casually, "What cn we do ? Even if we shout they don't understand our language. More over they may think that we are interputing their meditation and may throw stones at us. There is nothing we can do.....it is their fate"----
But sage 'Sabdhadhara' heard the conversation of the birds. His gift for languages enabled him to understand what the birds were talking about. So he decided to leave the place immediately. He called all his disciples and told them, "a bunch of tigers the other bank are going to come over this way very soon. So let us return to the Ashram immediately."
Everybody started back to the Ashram in a hurry. 'Suravarma' who was the last to move had a doubt. How would the tigers swim across the stream ? he thought. He wanted verify for himself. So he turned and went
back to the banks of the stream.Nobody saw 'Suravarnma' going back.
'Suravarma' stood on the bank and the stream and surveyed the other bank and water. He could see no tiger anywhere. However, to be on safe ground , he climbed a tree and sat on
the branches. It was the same tree on the which the two birds were chatting.
One of the birds said to the other, "You see what this kid did. He gave a slip to his guru and came back here. Nobody can guess where the tigers are going In case they decide to stay near this his place this foolish boy will be in Big trouble ".
