***KARTIK POV*
I, Kartik, am from a family where I saw fights over property and profit.
Where one does not hesitate to harm their own bother and family member.
My father married my mother against their parents' will. And so they denied any kind of financial support for my parents.
My father Mahesh and my mother Uma created their own design and construction
company without the help of others in a family. It became a thorn in other’s eyes and they started to create problems for my parents. Yet my father persisted to be better even after pressure and problems created by his family members.
He never wanted me to affect by such an environment and wanted me to have a peaceful life, so he sent me to my maternal grandparent's house.
My grandparents lived in a city called Dharwad and were
simple yet knowledgeable people. They had an only daughter and took good care of
me. They never put me under the dark. My grandfather was once a professor at business school and taught me about business management and so that I can be prepared for future fights of the business world.
For graduation, I decided to study at the same university where my parents studied. It is the place where they first met and fell in love.
During my final year, I started to visit various old buildings and monuments of ancient times. It was
my mother’s suggestion to understand construction in more depth.
Once I went to the city called Hampy. I visited lots of construction and ruins of the Vijayanagara empire. Even though it was ruined it has its own beauty. At the end of my tour, I visited a building called Kamahal mahal(lotus mahal). It was a two-storied structure, It is likely to be the only one that was not ruined by attacks and stands beautifully as time passes.
It is where I first met Arohi. She was sitting in the lonely corner of Maha, drawing something not paying attention to the surrounding people.
I passed by her I was amazed by her drawing skills. It was too realistic. I really wanted to talk to her and know about her drawing skill but lost in watching her draw I was unable to talk. Those skills are god-like, Every stroke, every line she drew was perfect. I was just standing behind her mesmerized. At last, she turned, ohh! god, not only her drawing is good but she is no less than a painting. My heart started to beat fast. It was like my heart is running in a marathon, beating non-stop. I gulped on my saliva. She gave me an angry look, I wanted to speak but unable to utter a single sentence. She left in a hurry after casually picking up her thing. I stood there not knowing what to do. It was true that the girl stole a vital part of my body, MY HEART.
I came back to my senses when a paper started tickling at my feet. I picked it up. Guess what it was, it is a drawing she missed.
How do I know? Simple those amazing drawing skills I saw before. To my luck, she left it behind. There were name and date written on it. Her name is Arohi.
I don't know her address or college, but one thing for sure she is an art student. And she will definitely visit these historical monuments. I planned my next visit. That definitely here in Hampy.
