Chapter 2 This Was Awkward

'.... I should ask them some questions... Just curious' I thought. "Soo... John, how did you built your company so big?" I asked him. Im not much in too politics but my curiosity is telling me ask. The atmosphere changed a bit.

"Its best if you dont know, but I will tell you some of it next time!" He sounded like he doesnt want to tell me. What is he hiding? "I... I see, so... Maria, hows your family going?" As soon as I asked. Silence befell the room. 'What have I done?' My brain said

"You... You didn't know?" Jaron said. "What?" I was confused. Wait...

"Maria's family were... All killed..." Jaron said in a sad tone. "What?! Oh! I!... Im sorry! I didnt mean to ask!" I said, trying to apologize to her. "Its fine! It looks like you really have been busy!" Maria said, her tone didn't sound cheerful as before.

"Heeyyy! Come on! Cheer up Maria! This is supposed to be fun and not all sad and gloomy!" Jerome spoke. He is trying to lighten the mood. Thank God it worked.

"He... He is right... W-we sh-should be having f-fun...." Vel said.

"Haha! Ye right mate!" John spoke in somesort of Pirate accent.

"Well, I've got some anime to watch. It might be best if we all watch it." Cyrus recommended, again... A weeb.

"No one wants to see your cartoons friends" Jaron said, opposing what cyrus said.

"Hey! Dont judge animes that way! They aren't cartoons!!" Cyrus said.

Everything went back to normal. Jerome really knows how to fix these problems. I should stop asking some personal things... My curiosity is just a monster. The gathering started at 10 am which ended on 11 pm. John took his private car. Vel and Maria went on their own paths to walk. Jerome used his motor. While me and Jaron took the same cab since we were heading the same way. "Can I ask something Jaron?" I asked him.

"Is it about Marias family?" He said, he knew what I was going to ask. "Well... Yeah..." I responded

"It happened a month ago..."

"The Family went on a business trip in Europe. Things went well. Until on Oct 14... The police think the crime happened at midnight. For some reason... During the families Dinner. The Food got poisoned by someone. All the family members died, except Maria herself."

"Wait what? If the food was poisoned... Then wont Maria have died too?"

"She was lucky. She was asleep when the dinner started."

"..."

"Well... Ive gotta go. Stop please!"

"Well see you Jaron!"

"I'll see you soon too friend"

We parted our ways of course. I stopped near a grocery to buy food for breakfast tomorrow. As soon as I exited. I saw Vel. 'Vel!? Didn't she go the other way?!?' I quickly hid near a alley. What should I do? Should I follow her? Then again... I might get in trouble... Just like what my dad said... Mind Your Own Business...
