The Morning Verdict

The morning light fell cold across the hall.

Alex and Julian sat on opposite sides of the long sofa; the space between them was sharp as a knife. I stood facing them, my hands folded tightly in front of me. My heart thudded so loud I was sure they could hear it.

Alex’s tone was ice. “You should leave, Elias. Go back where you belong. You don’t deserve to be here.”

The words cut deeper than they should have. I dropped my gaze on the marble floor. My throat burned. After everything that had happened last night—the confusion, the closeness, the loss of control—I had no strength left to argue. I only nodded faintly and turned toward the stairs.

“Stay where you are,” Julian’s voice snapped through the room.

I stopped. The air felt heavy.

Alex frowned. “What are you doing?”

Julian rose slowly, his expression unreadable. “He stays,” he said.

“What?” Alex’s voice rose, incredulous.

Julian didn’t flinch. “He knows too much. About us. About what happens in this house. If he leaves, a single word could ruin everything—our family name, our work, your grandfather’s trust.” He turned his gaze on me. “And he’s already caused enough damage. He owes this house more than apologies. He is poor and doesn't have enough money to recover things from the past but I must say he has a beautiful body.” Julian smirked looking at me.

The weight of his words crushed me. I didn’t fully understand what he intended maybe because what really happened last night made my thinking capacity lost, only that it sounded like punishment. My chest tightened. I wanted to speak, to explain, but nothing came out except a quiet gasp.

"Enough! I know what you are trying to do right now but will regret you later. So just stop here don't take your frustration and lust take over your mind." Alex said to jullian in a very harsh way that I would have never seen it

Alex started to argue, but Julian cut him off again, calm but merciless.

“Everything will go on as before. Only some boundaries will change. Is that clear?”

I bit my lip, fighting the tremor in my hands. The silence that followed was unbearable. Alex said nothing more. He looked away, jaw tight, eyes dark with a kind of restrained fury I couldn’t read.

When they finally dismissed me, I stumbled back to my room. The door shut behind me with a hollow sound. I slid down against it, my body shaking. My head throbbed with everything unsaid—shame, fear, exhaustion. My reflection in the mirror looked like a stranger: pale, hollow-eyed, trembling.

I pressed my palms to my face.

“I shouldn’t have come here,” I whispered.

But the words meant nothing in a place where choices no longer felt like mine.
