The Unwanted Guest~

Crimson Shadow – Episode 3: “The Unwanted Guest”

That night felt strange.

Lexi sat on the balcony, watching the city lights from Aden’s mansion. Everything was quiet — too quiet. The kind of silence that made her chest feel heavy.

She tried not to think about Aden, but he was always there in her mind. His voice, his eyes, the way he looked at her like she belonged to him.

Suddenly, her room door opened fast.

“Lexi!” Mira ran in, breathing hard.

Lexi stood up. “What happened?”

“He’s here,” Mira said quickly. “Dante.”

Lexi’s eyes widened. She had heard the name before — Aden’s biggest enemy. A man dangerous enough to make people disappear.

Before she could say anything, the sound of slow footsteps came from the hallway. Mira’s face turned pale. Then, the door opened again — but this time, it wasn’t Dante.

It was Aden.

He wore a black shirt, sleeves rolled up, his hair a bit messy. His sharp eyes met Lexi’s for a second before he looked at Mira.

“Leave us.”

Mira nodded and quietly walked out.

Now it was just them. The air felt different — heavy, almost burning.

Lexi turned away, pretending to look at the lights. “You’re mad,” she said softly.

“I should be,” Aden replied in a calm but cold voice. “Someone broke into my territory tonight.”

She looked at him. “And you think I had something to do with it?”

His jaw tightened. “I think trouble follows you, Lexi. And I’m tired of protecting you from it.”

Her heart sank. “I didn’t ask you to protect me,” she said quietly.

“I know,” Aden replied, taking a step closer. “But I can’t stop myself.”

Lexi froze. The way he said it... it didn’t sound like anger anymore. It sounded like fear — like he was scared of losing her.

“Dante’s men were seen near the gate,” Aden continued. “If he tries to come near you—”

Lexi interrupted, “You’ll kill him?”

Aden gave a small smile, but it wasn’t kind. “You already know the answer.”

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The air between them was thick with things they didn’t say.

Then Lexi whispered, “Why me, Aden? Why do you care this much?”

He looked at her, his eyes softer now. “Because you’re the only thing I can’t control.”

Her heart skipped a beat. She didn’t know what to reply. But before she could say anything, there was a loud crash downstairs — glass breaking, men shouting.

Aden turned toward the door, his face dark and serious. “Stay here,” he said firmly.

“Aden, wait—”

“Don’t move, Lexi.”

He walked out fast, gun in hand.

Lexi stood frozen. Her hands shook as she grabbed the balcony railing. From there, she saw shadows moving near the gate — men with guns.

Her chest tightened. She wanted to run after Aden, but something stopped her.

The night that began quiet had turned into chaos.

And deep down, Lexi knew… this was only the start.
