Season 2, Episode 2: “The Transfer Student”

The episode opens with Arata in the classroom, instantly surrounded by curious students. He’s effortlessly charming, answering questions, smiling with perfect posture. Girls swoon over him, boys already admire his athletic build. Hikari walks in late, as usual—shirt loose, skirt short, hair shimmering with neon streaks. The whole class watches Arata’s reaction.

“Good morning. I’m Arata Kisaragi. I transferred here from Tokyo. I hope we can all get along.”

He straightens, eyes immediately catching on Hikari. He gives her a confident smile.

“…And especially you. Momose-san, right? I’ve seen your magazine work. You’re amazing.”

Classroom Girls

(whispering, squealing)

“Kyaaa! He’s already flirting!”

“Did he just single out Momose-san?!”

Hikari blinks, then bursts into her usual bright grin.

Hikari

“Hehe~! Guess I’ve got a fan already! You’ve got good taste, newbie.”

Renji, sitting in the corner, nearly chokes on his own breath. His pen clatters to the desk as he stares, wide-eyed.

“…He’s… so bold. And she’s… laughing?!”

Lunchtime. Hikari usually drags Renji to eat together, but today Arata intercepts her with a confident smile, holding a bento box.

Arata

“Momose-san, would you like to eat with me? I made too much, and it’d be a shame to waste it.”

He opens the lid—it’s a perfectly arranged, Instagram-worthy bento. Students crowd around, whispering in awe. Hikari blinks at the food, then laughs, scratching her cheek.

Renji, watching from afar, grips his chopsticks tighter, his lunch trembling in his hands.

Mizuki (the quiet classmate) notices his expression and glances between him and Hikari with a knowing sigh.

After school. Hikari is hanging out in the courtyard with Renji, stretching her arms dramatically.

Hikari

“Ughhh, my legs are sore. That photoshoot yesterday was brutal. But at least I had a good lunch today.”

Renji hesitates, then blurts out:

“…With Arata, right?”

Hikari blinks, then smirks, leaning close with her glossy lips curling mischievously.

“Ehh? Sensei, are you jealous?”Renji

(face turning bright red, stammering)

“N-no! I just… I mean, you don’t even know him…”

Hikari

(giggling, pokes his cheek with her acrylic nail)

“Heh. Cute. Don’t worry—Glasses-kun’s still my number one tutor. But… maybe if you don’t step up, someone else might snatch me away~.”

Renji freezes, heart racing. Hikari laughs and skips ahead, waving back at him. But her smile fades for just a second when she glances at Arata across the courtyard, waving confidently at her.

Hikari (inner monologue):

“…Why does it feel different when he looks at me…?”

Final shot: Arata leaning against the school gate, smirking faintly as he watches Renji struggle to keep up with Hikari. The triangle is set.
