Chapter 5 Passing by

After living in the apocalypse for many years, Dora and Yara have already firmly memorized the saying "Respect the fate of others and let go of the desire to help others."

However, just as the two put the matter behind them and prepared to go back to enjoy the happiness brought by sweets, a dramatic scene quietly unfolded in front of them.

Mia, who had been missing before, unexpectedly appeared in the apartment building where they rented.

Mia's appearance surprised Yara. She looked at her former classmate with a look of surprise and confusion.

When Mia saw Yara, a complicated expression appeared on her face, as if she was surprised, envious, and even had a hint of indescribable jealousy.

When she saw Dora, who was equally stunning, standing beside Yara, her face gradually became uglier.

Dora and Yara walked side by side in the corridor of the apartment. They just smiled faintly at the hostility Mia had just shown and didn't take it to heart.

This kind of same-sex jealousy and hostility has long been commonplace for them.

Beauty may sometimes bring some unnecessary troubles, but as long as you are strong enough, all enemies are "paper tigers".

This is exactly the self they insist on, and they will not change easily because of other people's views.

"Hi, Mia, long time no see." Yara put away her usual enthusiasm and friendliness, and greeted her lightly, without showing any desire to find out any information.

Mia nodded slightly as a response, but there was still a hint of wariness and hostility in her eyes.

Dora stood beside Yara, observing all this silently, thinking about something in her heart.

She was not worried about Mia's uncertain future, but was worried that her appearance would disrupt the peaceful life of herself and Yara.

"We have something else to do, so we'll go upstairs first." Dora said softly, holding Yara's hand, preparing to leave the awkward atmosphere.

Mia didn't try to stop them, but silently watched them leave. When they disappeared down the stairs, a complex smile appeared on her face, a mixture of self-mockery and worry. "I must not let... see..."

After the two returned to their room, they didn't mention Mia anymore. For Yara, in this new world, only Dora's safety and actions were worthy of her constant attention. Other people and things were dispensable.

Dora unconsciously stroked the edge of the page with her fingertips. Half an hour had passed, and her eyes had not moved away from the map at all.

Mia's move here seems to be related to that "love game." So what kind of game would require taking leave, moving, or even disappearing?

Dora pulled out the tactical dagger from her calf and played with it back and forth in her hand. This was a habit she developed when thinking about the end of the world.

'Chase and escape game', that's what it was. Dora's lips curled up into a cold and sarcastic smile.

Among the many powerful people with special powers in the end times, there are naturally some with bad personalities and corrupt morals.

The 'chase game' is one of their favorites. They enjoy the process of tracking their prey, especially the desperate fear when the prey feels that it has escaped death and its hope of survival is extinguished.

Late at night, Dora lay on the bed, looking at the light on the ceiling, her thoughts surging like the tide.

Although she tried to relax, the alarm in her heart never stopped. Normally, this game wouldn't affect her and Yara at all, but...

Dora jumped up from the bed, her long, soft hair drawing a beautiful arc in the air.

She knew that this uneasiness did not come from any external sounds or movements, but from her deepest intuition. She knew that this intuition had saved their lives many times in the apocalypse, so she did not dare to be careless in the slightest.

Dora walked quickly to Yara's bedside and pushed her awake. Yara was suddenly awakened from her sleep, but she did not show any confusion or panic.

On the contrary, she immediately opened her eyes alertly, turned over and stood up, with a sharp light flashing in her peach blossom eyes.

"What's wrong, Dora? Is there something going on?" Yara asked in a low voice, pulling out the dagger from under her pillow and listening cautiously to the movements around her. Her voice was tense and slightly high-pitched, as if she was full of curiosity and anticipation for the unknown danger.

"I sense danger. Let's pack up and leave here immediately." Dora's voice was filled with unquestionable determination. She looked directly at Yara and gave orders without hesitation.

Upon hearing this, Yara had no hesitation or delay at all. She trusted Dora's judgment 100%.

They have experienced too many life and death tests together, and Dora's intuition and alertness have proved their value in countless crises.

So, Yara quickly took action and began to pack their luggage. Her movements were quick and orderly, packing the necessities into her backpack one by one.

Dora was not idle either. She assisted Yara and released her psychic powers, vigilantly observing the movements around her to ensure that no possible threats were missed.

"Dora, do you think there's something wrong with Mia?" Yara asked in a low voice while busying herself.

There was a hint of worry in her words. After all, Mia's sudden appearance in their apartment was indeed unusual and too coincidental.

Dora shook her head, her beautiful face was filled with seriousness and solemnity, and there was a hint of coldness flashing in her eyes.

"Mia might not be the one in danger. I suspect there's something wrong with her 'true love'. While ordinary people wouldn't cause trouble for you and me, in this strange world, we can't afford to be careless or let our guard down."

Yara nodded in agreement. She knew Dora's worries were not unnecessary. In this world full of unknowns and dangers, any small negligence could have fatal consequences.

Finally, with the joint efforts of the two, they quickly packed their luggage, carried their bags, walked out of the room, and left this dangerous place.

The moment they stepped out of the apartment building, Dora and Yara stopped at the same time. They turned around and took a last look back at the apartment building that had once given them shelter and peace.

Under the moonlight, the apartment building appears exceptionally quiet and peaceful, as if it is a safe haven away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

"This is our first home in this world." Dora sighed softly, with a strong reluctance to leave.

This is where she spent a peaceful and beautiful life away from the blood and rain, and it will remain in her memory forever.

Yara also nodded, hooked her arm around Dora's shoulders, and comforted her: "No matter where we go in the future, this place will always remain in our memory."

"Home is where you are," they said in unison, smiling at each other. In the night, Dora and Thea walked away, their steps firm and powerful.

Shortly after Dora and Yara left the apartment building, the shadow of night quietly enveloped the area.

Dmitri and Alec, two predators of the night, quietly appeared outside the apartment building.

Alec leaned lazily against a big tree, his blood-red pupils scanning the surroundings indifferently.

He clearly had no interest in Dmitri's game and was simply there for the ride. He said calmly, "I'm not going in. Just finish this quickly."

Hearing this, Dmitri's lips curled up into a sly smile. He knew that Alec's character was just as bad as his own.

Every time he was on a mission, he enjoyed playing with his prey.

So, he pretended to be relaxed and replied, "Quick? That's not easy. After all, this is about a man's dignity."

Alec looked at Demetri expressionlessly, and a faint black mist emanated from his palm.

The black fog contained a terrifying power that seemed to be able to devour everything.

Seeing this, Dmitri was so frightened that he jumped away and patted his chest:

"Hey, Alec, you can't take a joke. I was just saying that."

Alec retracted the black mist and said coldly, "Lord Aro has given us a mission. We must return to Wattla City before dawn. Don't make me wait too long."

Dmitri patted his chest and said with a smile, "Don't worry, with our speed, there will be no problem. I'll get it done in no time."

After saying that, Dmitri strode into the apartment building.

Alec continued to lean against the tree, his gaze coldly fixed on the entrance of the apartment building, as if waiting for something. The cold moonlight cast a shadow on the handsome young man, like a medieval oil painting, inviting endless reverie.

The moonlight was like silver, shining on his handsome face, adding a bit of mystery and aloofness to him, just like a noble boy in a medieval oil painting, which was very imaginative.

Alec was not worried that Dmitri would fail. He was one of the earliest elite guards and had followed the three leaders for many years. He was very outstanding in both dark talent and personal ability.

Even though Dmitry usually behaves cynically and like a playboy, he is never careless when carrying out his mission.

Time passed minute by minute, and with the vampire's extraordinary hearing, Alec easily captured the sound of Dmitri's activities inside the building. Everything was logical and nothing new.

"Have we found the target?" Alec thought to himself. His ears moved slightly, catching the conversation between Dmitri and Mia, as well as the subsequent sounds of breaking and screaming.

He knew that Dmitri had found Mia and brutally ended her life.

However, what made Alec uneasy was that Dmitri had not appeared. He frowned, and a sense of foreboding welled up in his heart.

He understood that Dmitri could not have stayed in the apartment building after completing his mission unless something unexpected happened.

"Dmitri, what are you doing?" Alec whispered to himself, his eyes becoming sharper, as if he wanted to penetrate the wall of the apartment building and see everything inside.
