The rain hit the skyscraper windows like a drumbeat of fate. Kim Taeyun opened his eyes, gasping, and the world felt wrongly familiar. He was… alive. Alive in the body of his twenty-two-year-old self.

The ballroom glittered with chandeliers, filled with society’s elite, laughing and clinking glasses. Han Seoah, his fiancée in the past life, floated through the crowd, a serpent’s smile on her lips. Lee Minho, the friend who had betrayed him, stood beside her, smug and confident.

They hadn’t expected him. They didn’t expect him to be cold. To be awake. To know.

Taeyun stepped into the room, his tailored black suit clinging perfectly to his reborn body. Silence fell like a guillotine. Conversations halted mid-sentence.

“Taeyun?” Seoah’s voice trembled.

He strode past the crowd, every step echoing like a warning. Then his gaze locked on someone else—a fiery, defiant young man at the edge of the crowd, watching with curiosity and challenge burning in his eyes.

Jeon Jungguk.

He smirked. “Well, this isn’t the shy, obedient Taeyun I’ve heard about. You’ve grown bold… or maybe you were always just lucky to be born into wealth.”

Taeyun’s eyes narrowed, his voice ice-cold: “Lucky? No, Mr. Jungguk. I’ve been dead once. I don’t rely on luck anymore.”

A phone buzzed in Taeyun’s pocket. The message was short. Simple. Terrifying:

“They know you’re back. And they’re waiting.”

Taeyun’s lips curved into a dangerous smile. The game had begun.

Above the ballroom, a shadow lingered on the balcony—someone who had never forgiven him. His icy heart stirred for the first time with a single thought:

“This time… they will all pay.”
