The quad smelled like sweat, smoke, and teenage bravado.
Leon lounged against a railing, arms crossed, watching Theo toss a basketball into the air lazily. Riku was sprawled on the steps, smirking like a fucking lunatic.
“You’re gonna regret picking this fight,” Theo muttered.
Leon grinned, lighting a cigarette. “I regret nothing.”
And then the sound of footsteps on concrete—**slow, deliberate, confident**—made the hair at the back of his neck stand up.
Enzo D’Amato.
White hair catching the sun, hoodie half-zipped, hands shoved deep into pockets. He didn’t look like he was here for fun. He looked like he was here to see how much Leon could take before breaking.
“Veyra,” Enzo said, voice low. “Ever consider you’re not as untouchable as you think?”
Leon tilted his head, smirk sharp. “And you’re not as terrifying as people say. Try harder.”
A flick of a wrist, a smirk, and Enzo stepped closer. The crowd gave a wide circle, murmuring.
Theo groaned. “Leon… don’t—”
But Leon wasn’t listening. He was staring at those silver eyes, trying to read the calm beneath the menace. Trying to figure out why his pulse had kicked up even though he hated the guy.
Enzo stopped two feet away. “Funny,” he said softly. “I thought you’d be bigger. Meaner. Smarter.”
Leon laughed, sharp and bitter. “Funny how you thought, huh?” He shoved him. Just a little. Enough to see Enzo react.
And Enzo *did*. His grip was lightning fast, catching Leon’s wrist in a hold that was precise and almost tender, like he didn’t want to hurt him—yet he could have.
“Careful, Veyra.” Enzo’s voice was a whisper, low and dangerous. “You’re pushing me.”
Leon snorted. “You’re not scary. Not even close.”
But the flicker in Enzo’s eyes wasn’t anger. It was… *curiosity*.
Before things escalated, Riku and Damian had to step in, while Theo and Cassian hovered, tension crackling. Both crews stared each other down like predators in a cage, but no one moved for the first strike.
Leon broke the hold with a shove, chest heaving, teeth gritted. “Next time, I won’t stop you.”
Enzo’s lips twitched in the smallest, almost imperceptible smile. “I’ll hold you to that.”
As he walked away, leaving whispers and glares in his wake, Leon’s smirk didn’t quite reach his eyes. He was *thinking*. Something about that fight, that touch… it hadn’t felt like all the other encounters.
And for the first time, Leon Veyra didn’t know whether he wanted to hate it—or *him*
