The Line Blurs

The next morning, Hana’s alarm blared far too soon. She groaned, burying her face into the pillow. Her body was heavy with exhaustion, but it wasn’t sleep that had drained her it was the relentless war inside her chest.

Her phone sat on the nightstand, dark and silent. No new messages. No playful winks, no teasing remarks.

She should have felt relieved. Instead, a strange ache pulled at her heart.

“Pull yourself together, Hana,” she muttered, dragging herself out of bed. “He’s your assignment. Nothing more.”

But even as she got dressed for the day, carefully tying her hair back and smoothing her blazer, she couldn’t shake the memory of his voice. You’re cute when you’re flustered.

By the time she arrived at the office lobby, her nerves were stretched thin. Her supervisor handed her the updated contract files and gave her a firm smile.

“Jimin-ssi will be waiting downstairs,” he said. “Make sure everything goes smoothly.”

Hana swallowed hard. “Of course.”

The Van, Again

The familiar black van was parked by the curb, gleaming under the morning sun. The driver bowed politely and opened the door. Hana climbed in, hugging the folder tightly against her chest like a shield.

And there he was again. Jimin.

No mask this time just a simple cap tugged low over his hair. His lips curved when his gaze landed on her.

“Morning, Miss Suspicious.”

Her stomach flipped. “Good morning,” she said stiffly, settling into the seat as far from him as possible.

But the van wasn’t big enough for distance. His presence filled the space, warm and magnetic, tugging at her no matter how she tried to resist.

He tilted his head, watching her with amused curiosity. “You look like you didn’t sleep much.”

“I was… busy,” she lied quickly.

“Busy thinking about me?” His grin was devastating.

Her cheeks heated instantly. “In your dreams.”

“Maybe,” he said softly, his eyes locking onto hers. “Or maybe in yours.”

Hana looked away sharply, but her heart was hammering so loudly she swore he could hear it.

The Errand

The first stop was uneventful a quick visit to a partner company where Hana handled the signatures and Jimin stayed quietly in the background, blending into his cap and sunglasses. She was efficient, professional, her voice steady as she guided the meeting.

But every time she glanced up, she found him watching her.

Not as the world saw him an idol, flawless and untouchable. But as a man, eyes warm, lips curved in a private smile meant only for her.

It rattled her more than she wanted to admit.

By the time they returned to the van for the second stop, her hands trembled slightly as she tucked the folder back into her bag.

“You’re good at this,” he said casually, stretching out his long legs.

“It’s my job.”

“No,” he said firmly, leaning closer. “You’re more than just good. You’re confident when you work. I like that.”

Her breath caught. No one had ever said something like that to her before least of all someone like him.

And then, just as her pulse steadied, he leaned even closer, shoulder brushing hers again.

The Tension

“Why do you keep doing that?” she whispered, her voice trembling.

“Doing what?” His tone was innocent, but his eyes glinted with mischief.

“Getting so close.”

“Because,” he murmured, his voice dipping low, “you don’t push me away.”

Her lips parted, but no words came out. She wanted to argue, deny it, but he was right. She hadn’t pushed him away. Not once.

His gaze dropped briefly to her mouth, and her entire body went still.

The van jolted over a bump in the road, and instinctively, Hana grabbed onto the seat for balance. But her hand landed on his arm instead, warm and solid beneath her fingers.

The air between them shifted. Heavy. Electric.

“Hana…” His voice was softer now, stripped of playfulness. “Tell me to stop.”

She should have. Every part of her mind screamed at her to. But her heart, her traitorous heart, beat wildly with something that felt dangerously close to longing.

She didn’t say it.

And so, slowly, deliberately, Jimin leaned in.

The Kiss

His lips brushed hers, feather-light at first, as if giving her one last chance to pull away.

She didn’t.

The kiss deepened, his hand coming up to cradle her jaw gently, tilting her face toward his. It was warm, intoxicating, and far too short yet it left her reeling, her entire world spinning on its axis.

When he finally pulled back, their foreheads rested together, breaths mingling in the small space between them.

Her voice was barely a whisper. “This is crazy.”

“Yeah,” he murmured, his thumb brushing lightly against her cheek. “But it feels real, doesn’t it?”

Her chest ached. “You’re… you’re an idol. I can’t”

“You already did,” he interrupted softly, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “And so did I.”

She closed her eyes, torn between fear and something dangerously close to happiness.

The Aftermath

The rest of the ride passed in a blur. She kept her gaze fixed on the window, her fingers trembling in her lap. He didn’t press, didn’t tease. Instead, he sat quietly beside her, their shoulders brushing, a silent reminder of what had just happened.

When the van finally stopped, Hana exhaled shakily. She had no idea how she was supposed to face him again.

But as the door slid open and the sunlight spilled inside, Jimin leaned close once more, his lips brushing against her ear.

“Don’t overthink it,” he whispered. “Just feel it.”

Her heart slammed against her ribs, her breath catching in her throat.

And then he was gone, stepping out of the van with effortless grace, leaving her behind in a storm of emotions she could no longer control.

Hana’s Room, Again

That night, lying in bed, Hana touched her lips, still tingling from the memory.

It wasn’t supposed to happen. She wasn’t supposed to let it happen.

But it had.

And she knew, no matter how hard she tried, there was no going back.

She had crossed the line.

And maybe… just maybe… she wanted to.
