dark magic

After awakening a talent he felt mixed emotions. He awakened earlier than anticipated which is a remarkable feat, yet disappointed by his talent, one that he has never heard of. However an ability that allows him to learn any skill would mean that he possesses the requirement for any art of power. His face now filled with joy after hearing Aurion's explanation of his new talent. The former low class mage is now walking a new path but first he will have to leave the cave.

“Hahaha... Osric bursting in laughter,”

“You have been laughing for almost half an hour like a fool,” Aurion said in a harsh tone.

“Don't be like that. I can't help but think of possibilities that this talent offers me is beyond words, anyway this is where the fun begins.but there are supposed to be three talents I have never heard of wielder what's going on.

“There were great talents in the past the were several others after a few centuries things changed, you and the previous generations were limited to only three times change especially for immortals beings like me, though a Wielder was rare even among geniuses I was surprised when you awakened but I should expect these things since I'm present inside you my blessing are working overtime,”Aurion spoke with a proud tone.

“I suppose if my talent Wielder means I can learn art then the reason my class is still none in the status window it's because I haven't learned any skill that corresponds to a others talent's types,”Osric's asked

“Correct,It goes without saying that you have to put in a lot of work. How are you going to escape this cave with your brother’s mediocre swordsmanship? That talent will only be useful if you have the right resources. Now tell me boy, what is your next step?” Aurion asked.

“Its simple really, while I was rudely interrupted from expressing my joy by some noble spirit I came with a plan,” Osric replied sarcastically.

“I'm listening human child, speak,” said Aurion, annoyed.

“Very well I will ask for Eira to bring me dark magic books.I need a mind control or possession technique, which will be useful to me especially since I'm stuck in the Dark Forest,” Osric said with a grin on his face.

“What?! Nonsense! How could you resort to evil sorcery? You wanted power the moment you get it you abuse like this, unacceptable. I am a noble spirit who heals and expels all impurities and you dare intend to practice dark arts. Have you lost your honor?” Aurion spoke with a furious tone.

“Let me make something clear here. I'm grateful for all you have done for me until now however I will dictate what happens in my life. Moreover I never claimed that I would walk the path of a saint. For my revenge I will go hell and back. I hope you understand me Aurion,” said Osric with a serious tone and cold expression, his eyes filled with determination. The atmosphere was tense around him and a moment of silence passed.

Aurion Breaking the Silence replied, “Is that your final answer... Very well I will not stand in your way. I doubt I will have to warn you about the consequences. I wonder how the elf will heed your demand lest you forget in her eyes you are pure and benevolent spirit.”

“Just wait and see, I have a plan in mind. Eira won't catch on,” Osric replied.

“I'd advise you not to underestimate that elf's intelligence; she's not as simple as she looks,” Aurion said, warning Osric.

“Oh it seems you noticed as well. I'm also very wary of her. She seems as if she's worshiping me and one moment it's like her eyes are searching through me. I always feel like she would see through my facade which is why I need to strike the iron while it's still hot and leave this place,” Osric said.

His conversation with Aurion in his head continued until he fell asleep in his futon as there was little to do in the cave other than training, eating and sleeping. It was time for Eira to visit, bringing Osric food. Sound footsteps at distance increased but Osric showed no signs of waking up.

“Mortal, mortal, wake up,” a loud voice rang in Osric's head and he opened his eyes and jolted up.

“Huh what is it what's wrong,” Osric responded while looking around to see what could be happening.

“The elf is coming how could you sleep like an infant did you forget where you are,” Aurion said.

The sound of footsteps became louder as Eira approached. “Lord Osric I have returned forgive me I'm a little late today I did not disturb you did I,” Eira spoke cheerfully.

Osric replied, “It's alright, thanks for the food.”

“Please my lord no need to be polite every time. I'm happy to serve. If my lord has anything he needs I'm more than happy to fulfill,” Eira said smiling.

“Why do you always look bruised and wounded every time? I doubt you being bullied are you?” Osric asked.

“Not at all my lord this... as a Lieutenant I lead a squad with my Captain to train by exterminating the Dark Forest beasts as a daily training routine. It's one of our daily missions,” Eira replied.

“Interesting. Lieutenant, Captains? That would mean she is in the military. I should use this chance to find out about her region,” Osric thought to himself.

“I see, you're a Lieutenant. Come to think of it, I know little about you and your city,” Osric said attentively looking at Eira’s reaction to his words.

Showing no sign of hesitation Eira explains, “The city of Asdrath is large as a small country divided into four directions which are protected by the Cardinal Chiefs under the Prime Minister Caelthyrion Elowen the leader of Asdrath. I am the second Lieutenant of the Western militants under Aethera Starwever, Chief of the Western militants.”

“Something is wrong, she spilled everything without a single moment of hesitation. Could this be a trap? Maybe I'm overthinking,” Osric thought to himself.

“Lieutenant is that the lowest rank of leadership? It seems you lacking little one,” Osric said.

Eira startled by Osric's words, “Please don't be disappointed my lord. I'm working harder to improve and my promotion to being Captain is at hand. I will be useful to this noble spirit,” she spoke anxiously while avoiding Osric’s gaze.

“Calm down Eira I’d never look down on a lesser person striving to reach the top. But little one I need a favour that will contribute to my next plan it will all be clear to you later,” Osric said.

Attentively listening Eira responded, “Of course my lord.”

Osric spoke, “A thousand years ago I encountered an evil man possessed by a demonic entity that caused havoc at the time. Naturally I destroyed it, however a strange demonic ability which already affected me caused me to lose my vessel and compelled me to return to me spirit form.I need to find any traces and information about such an ability so my request is for you to bring dark magic manuscripts you can find so I can investigate it myself.”

“Incredible, what a load of garbage that was. Your plan to convince her to bring you dark magic books was that,” Aurion said telepathically in Osric’s mind.

Eira hesitantly responded in a soft voice, “My Lord, that will be a little challenging. It goes without saying that dark magic amongst elves and dwarves is forbidden. In Asdrath there is no single book in sight except one place, the military prison. It's where a few wizards and criminals alike who broke the laws are held,The dark magic manuscripts are held there in the dungeon repository.”

“What are you saying? That I, a noble spirit, must command you to break laws to retrieve the books, or are you saying that you are unable to help me?” Osric replied with an intimidating voice, his eyes looking sharp staring at Eira.

“My How ruthless”said Aurion

“Forgive me my lord please leave it to me. I will not fail you. I will exhaust my ability to serve you,” Eira responded quickly.

“Eira don't hide your thoughts from me. I'm aware of the nature of my request however due circumstances it must be done. Tell me your plan little one, how do you intend to retrieve those manuscripts? The last thing we need is you getting in any sort of trouble,” Osric said.

“Well... I was thinking of going to put a request in the underworld. Even as a military officer I cannot go to the military prison as I please, especially with my low rank. I thought infiltration should be my last resort so I plan to put a request first,” Eira replied.

“Very clever, however if it fails do not try to infiltrate the place yourself. I cannot afford to have you get caught ,” Osric spoke, raising his hand and patting the nervous Eira.

“Yes my lord, I will now leave you to have your meal.”

Eira left and Osric ate his meal while he was filled with doubts and impatience. His moment was near yet so far away, however it's only a matter of time until Osric's life meets a dramatic change. A week passed, Osric left starving and fatigued from his training with no sign of Eira. Osric's patience was nearing its limit, his racing thoughts trying to figure out what could have happened filled with endless questions. Suddenly without Aurion telling him he quickly glanced at the direction of the footsteps hoping it's Eira.

Osric grabs his sword and holds a fighting stance. The figure behind the footsteps appears groaning and breathless. Eira was wounded, her midsection was bleeding. She was struggling to walk as she approached Osric using the cavern wall to support herself. She smiles raising her hand which held a black pouch. Osric quickly helped her lie down trying to stop the bleeding.

“My lord, I brought the books,” Eira said while smiling.
