The days that followed were a whirlwind of emotions, each moment spent with Alexander feeling both exhilarating and terrifying. We had crossed a line that couldn’t be uncrossed, and though we tried to keep things professional in the office, the tension between us was undeniable. Every glance, every brush of his hand against mine, was charged with an electric current that neither of us could ignore.
It was a delicate balance — trying to maintain the professional distance we had once shared while navigating the new, uncharted territory of our relationship. But it wasn’t easy. Not when every moment we spent together seemed to bring us closer, in ways that both thrilled and frightened me.
By the end of the week, I found myself more than once looking over my shoulder, wondering if anyone had noticed the subtle change in our dynamic. The staff at the office remained unaware of what had transpired between us, but there were moments — fleeting ones — when I could sense the undercurrent of curiosity.
Alexander, for his part, had kept his usual stoic facade intact. He maintained his authoritative presence, never once giving any hint of what we shared outside the office. And yet, there were small, unspoken moments — the way he’d catch my eye across the conference table, the brief touches that lingered longer than necessary, the private conversations that felt more personal than business.
But it was Saturday evening when everything shifted again.
I had been working late, going over some proposals for the upcoming quarter, when I received a message from Alexander. Meet me at the rooftop in 30 minutes. I need to talk to you.
My heart raced at the simplicity of the text. It had been a few days since our last encounter, and although we had kept things professional, I knew there was more between us. More than either of us was willing to admit.
I closed my laptop and made my way to the elevator. The anticipation hung thick in the air, and by the time I reached the rooftop, I could feel my pulse quicken. The city spread out before me, its lights twinkling in the cool evening air.
Alexander was already standing by the railing when I arrived, his figure silhouetted against the night sky. The city buzzed below, but up here, it was quiet — serene. It felt like a world apart from everything else.
He turned as I approached, his gaze softening when he saw me. "You came," he said, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.
"I always do when you ask," I replied, my voice steadier than I felt.
He motioned for me to join him at the railing, and I did, standing beside him as we both looked out over the city. The wind rustled through the air, carrying the distant hum of traffic and life. But here, with Alexander, it felt like the world was paused — just for us.
"I’ve been thinking," he said after a moment, his voice low. "About us. About what this is."
I swallowed hard, my heart pounding in my chest. "What do you mean?"
He turned toward me, his expression serious, yet there was something vulnerable in his eyes — something that was different from the confident CEO I was used to seeing. "I want you to know that I’m not taking this lightly. This thing between us... it’s not just a fling. I know how easy it could be to get swept up in the moment, to think this is just some office romance, but it’s not. I want more."
His words hit me harder than I expected. I had known it, deep down, but hearing him say it out loud made it real. This was no longer something fleeting or temporary. This was something that had the potential to change everything.
I didn’t know what to say. My mind was a swirl of emotions — confusion, excitement, fear. Alexander had just laid his cards on the table, and now I had to decide if I was ready to play this game.
"I want more, too," I admitted, my voice barely a whisper.
He took a step closer, his hand reaching out to gently touch my arm. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver down my spine. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice soft but urgent. "Because once we go down this path, there’s no turning back."
I looked up at him, meeting his gaze. His face was inches from mine, and I could feel the heat radiating between us. There was no denying it now. Whatever had started between us was no longer something I could ignore, no longer something I could pretend didn’t exist.
"I’m sure," I said, my voice steady, despite the storm swirling inside me. "I’m ready."
Alexander’s lips curved into a smile, the kind of smile that made my heart race. Without another word, he closed the distance between us and kissed me. This time, it was different — deeper, more urgent, as though we had finally given ourselves permission to explore the feelings we had been holding back for so long.
His hands moved to my waist, pulling me closer as I melted into him. The city lights flickered in the background, but in that moment, all that mattered was the way he made me feel. The way he made me forget everything but the way he touched me, the way he kissed me, the way he held me.
When we finally pulled apart, our breaths were shallow, our hearts racing. He rested his forehead against mine, his eyes closing for a moment as he took a deep breath.
"We’re not going to be able to keep this a secret forever," I whispered, the words slipping out before I could stop them.
"I know," he replied, his voice rough. "But for now, let’s enjoy it. Let’s not overthink it."
I nodded, my fingers tracing the line of his jaw. "I can do that," I said quietly. "I can do that with you."
And for the first time in days, I allowed myself to truly believe that maybe this wasn’t just a fleeting moment. Maybe this was the start of something real.
