Once, there was a kingdom in the southern part of a land in the western Pacific Ocean named Glancia, which's literal meaning is Iceland, even though the place was blessed with greenery and fertilized cultivation.
At that time, the king of Glancia was Min Young the fourth, supported and respected by his kingdom's people. He was one of the greatest kings of his lineage and the most powerful of that time.
King Young the Fourth had five children. And even though he tries to be equal to all of them, he never sees his third child as the same. He couldn't. For him, the third child and the second prince wasn't good enough, unlike his two other brothers and two sisters. The third prince was the second heir in line to the throne. But he never had any sort of interest in it. He never found the throne's value.
However, in his mother's eyes, the third prince was everything she could ask for. He was the apple of her eye. She adored him with the depth of her heart. So, the other children never liked him for why their mother was so fond of the third prince more.
The queen knew that the jealousy and corruption would get them someday, therefore, she asked the gods of heaven to give her son, the third prince, a peaceful life full of happiness and love specifically.
The Goddess of heaven heard the kind Queen's request and honored her, but since they couldn't change the fate, they gifted the third prince with something no amount of Gold, Diamond, or silver could buy. Thus, the third prince was gifted, different from every human being, different from any princes or princesses.
But unfortunately, the only person who cared for and loved the third prince passed away when he was 9 years old, leaving him in the dark and narrowly given attention by anyone in the palace.
He got used to it. The third prince knew he was gifted. Gifted with something people would kill and die for. His power was enough for someone to misuse it and make the ordinary people worship them as if they were the gods themselves. He knew people were manipulative and greedy. He saw many of this kind.
So he stayed quiet, hiding away with his power and staying in the dark, away from the world, from the people.
Other than his mother, no one ever knew about his gifted power from the goddess.
Hence, he was the most silent one among his siblings. Never demanding, never disobeying. But he wasn't ignorant. He sees, he knows, he observes more than most others in that place that works, and he keeps quiet. Only blowing on his actions when he feels like it. His silence was often taken for granted, judged by the superiors as dense, foolish.
Little did they know he was a genius in disguise.
But beneath that mask, he was, in fact, a lonely soul. The only companion he had was his royal horse. Other than that, he was nothing. He had no one. Alone in the huge palace, in the crowds, as if he was invisible.
Until his eyes landed on her.
He first saw her on the mountain, looking like a fairy, as she admired nature as if it were her first time. Found her looking at the mother nature with such curiosity while tilting her head.
He became curious when he saw her for the second time. He saw her before, roaming in the palace, acting like a kid, but never approached. Always observing, just watching.
It was his elder sister's grand wedding that he first saw her, actually, looking amazed, lost, and beautiful. It left him with an unknown spark. A determination to be seen for the first time.
And when her eyes met his pining ones among the crowds, he felt the urge to keep her to him even if the world went against him.
He would keep her, through distance, watching her smile, her joy, her activities. His mind was going crazy. He was going crazy.
He wanted her to smile at him. He wanted her to laugh at him. He wanted her to talk with him as much as she wanted, while he would admire. He was drowning in his fantasy until his dam broke when she stood in front of him with a comforting and welcoming smile.
And it was that time he ever saw her when he knew it wasn't normal anymore.
He felt the pull. The string. The need. He felt emotions for the first time in years. And he knew he was doomed for her.
