📖 Reborn in Your Shadow
Part 3 –
---
Scene 1 – The Stalker in the Shadows
Taehyung tried everything.
New routes to the gallery. Leaving earlier than usual. Turning corners without warning. Even ducking into convenience stores just to see if the feeling of being watched would disappear.
It never did.
No matter how far he walked, no matter where he hid, Jungkook was there.
Sometimes it was a shadow in the corner of his vision. Sometimes it was the glint of those dark, unblinking eyes across a crowded street. And sometimes it was far more obvious—Jungkook leaning casually against his car outside the gallery as if he belonged there, as if he owned the ground Taehyung walked on.
It should have terrified him. And it did. His stomach twisted with unease whenever Jungkook appeared, silent and intense, never asking permission to enter his world.
But there was something else too. Something he didn’t dare name.
That pull. That strange, aching gravity that drew him closer even when his mind screamed to run.
Tonight, it was raining again. The city gleamed under neon lights and wet asphalt. Taehyung walked fast, clutching his umbrella like a shield. He glanced behind him—empty street. Yet his heartbeat sped up anyway.
Then he heard it.
Footsteps.
Measured. Calm.
Not rushing to catch him. Just… following.
He spun around.
Jungkook stood a few meters away, hands shoved into his coat pockets, the rain dripping from his hair. He didn’t speak. He didn’t need to. His eyes said everything.
Taehyung’s grip on the umbrella tightened. “Stop following me.”
Jungkook tilted his head slightly, like he was considering it. Then he stepped closer.
“I can’t.”
Taehyung’s chest tightened. “Why? Why me?!”
Jungkook’s voice was low, steady. “Because I already lost you once. And I won’t let it happen again.”

Scene 2 – Taehyung’s Conflict
That night, Taehyung couldn’t sleep.
He lay awake, staring at the ceiling, Jungkook’s words echoing like a curse. Lost you once…
What did it mean?
He thought about the dreams again—the blood, the gunshots, Jungkook’s dying whisper. Could it really be true? Could they have lived another life?
His rational mind screamed impossible. But his heart… his heart trembled every time Jungkook’s eyes locked with his.
The next day at the gallery, he found himself sketching unconsciously. When he looked down at the paper, his breath caught.
It wasn’t the landscape he had meant to draw. It was a man.
Sharp jawline. Dark eyes. A smirk that burned with danger.
Jungkook.
Taehyung dropped the pencil, his hands shaking.

Scene 3 – The First Kiss
It happened two nights later.
Taehyung had stayed late at the gallery, closing up. The rain had stopped for once, leaving the city damp and quiet. He locked the door, slung his bag over his shoulder, and stepped outside.
And froze.
Jungkook was leaning against the wall, waiting.
Taehyung’s frustration boiled over. “Why are you always here?! Don’t you have a life?”
Jungkook pushed off the wall, walking toward him slowly. “You are my life.”
Taehyung’s chest burned. “Stop saying things like that!”
Jungkook didn’t stop until he was right in front of him, their breaths mixing in the cool night air. His hand came up, brushing against Taehyung’s jaw, tilting his face upward.
Taehyung shivered. “Don’t…”
But Jungkook’s eyes softened, his thumb stroking his skin gently. “You can pretend you don’t feel it. But your soul remembers me.”
And before Taehyung could respond, Jungkook kissed him.
It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t sweet. It was raw, consuming, desperate—as if Jungkook had been starving for centuries and Taehyung was the only thing that could sate him.
Taehyung gasped against his lips, his hands pushing weakly at Jungkook’s chest. But the harder he pushed, the tighter Jungkook held him, one hand sliding to the back of his neck, the other gripping his waist possessively.
And the worst part?
Taehyung kissed him back.
Just for a moment, before fear jolted him and he broke away, gasping for breath. “You’re insane,” he whispered, his voice trembling.
Jungkook’s gaze burned into him. “Maybe. But I’m yours. And you’re mine.”

Scene 4 – The Threat Returns
Two days later, the warning came.
Taehyung arrived at the gallery to find the front door unlocked. His stomach dropped. Slowly, he pushed the door open.
The canvases inside were slashed. Paint splattered across the floor like blood. And on the center table lay a single object.
A bullet.
And a note: “Stay away from him, or you’ll end up like before.”
Taehyung’s hands shook as he picked it up. Before?
Before what?
His heart pounded in his chest. He stumbled outside—and froze when he saw Jungkook standing there, eyes scanning the street like a predator.
“What happened?” Jungkook demanded, grabbing Taehyung’s wrist.
Taehyung shoved the note into his chest. “This! Someone broke in, they—”
Jungkook read it, his jaw tightening. His eyes went dark, dangerous. “They’ve found us.”
“Us?” Taehyung echoed, panicked. “Why me? What does this have to do with me?!”
Jungkook’s hand cupped his face, forcing him to look at him. “Because you were mine then. And you’re mine now. And they know it.”

Scene 5 – Obsession Locked
That night, Jungkook didn’t let Taehyung go home alone. He drove him to his apartment, walked him up the stairs, and didn’t leave even when Taehyung told him to.
“You’re not safe,” Jungkook said simply, sitting on the couch like he owned it.
Taehyung paced, running his hands through his hair. “You can’t just take over my life like this!”
Jungkook’s gaze followed him, steady, unyielding. “I’ll take over everything if it means you’re safe.”
Taehyung stopped, his chest heaving. “Why me, Jungkook? Why are you so obsessed?”
For a moment, silence. Then Jungkook stood, crossing the room. His hand slid behind Taehyung’s neck, pulling him close until their foreheads touched.
“Because I died once for you. Because I came back for you. Because even if the world burns, I’ll never let you go again.”
His lips brushed against Taehyung’s ear, a whisper like a vow and a threat all at once:
“You’re mine, Taehyung. In this life, in the next, in every life to come. And I’ll chain you to me if I have to.”
Taehyung shivered, torn between terror and the dangerous, undeniable pull of his own heart.
And somewhere outside, in the shadows of the night, eyes watched them both. Enemies waiting. Enemies that remembered.
This was only the beginning.
