"Mr Saine there must be something we can do to get this deal started on good terms. I admit we did mess up as the Rye family and we take full responsibility for it. Can you please give us another chance?"

Old Man Rye tried to negotiate with the man seated in front of him. Like a king, he carried himself as he went to stare at the night city lights through his expensive floor-to-ceiling glass window. His slander frame casted a shadow on the wall as the room was dimly lit, his dark black eyes that seemed devoid of all warmth scanned the night city lights as if he could see what was happening from a mile away, his straight perfectly shaped nose tallied with his features, his short flawlessly cut dark raven hair added a sense of masculinity to his features, with the lower lip slightly thinner than the bottom lip conveyed charisma as he finally spoke after a dead long silence.

"Talk old man."

"Thank you for this Mr Saine. We as the Rye family always believed that there is nothing stronger than family bonds so why don't we just relate through marriage?"

"I don't need a wife." He said almost instantly.

"With all due respect Mr Saine I was your father's lawyer for a long time and even as he died; you do remember that he always wanted you to marry one of my girls. I think that we should get you married to anyone from the Rye family and finally get this deal over with."

The handsome young man did not immediately answer the man. He just kept his gaze at the cityscape, which did not seem to bother the Old man at all as it seemed like he was used to it. After a long silence, he then turned his back and faced the man.

"Are you willing to do that?"

"Of course."

"Okay then but be prepared to dig her grave after 3 days. I told you I don't need a wife and I don't keep anything I do not need."

The old man smiled slyly and uttered, "Consider it done."

"Tell Addison she is the one who is going to marry Torak Saine."

The old man announced the news over a call with his housekeeper.

"Tell her to pack all her bags and come to the Saine Empire Building, Torak will be waiting for her outside."

"But Mr Rye isn't it late already? It's literally a few minutes before 10." The kind keeper who always pitted Addison said.

"Do I give a fuck!?" He questioned with his voice slightly high which made Torak Saine who was now going through his phone gaze at him with an unreadable expression.

"I get that you do not like her sir but she is still your daughter isn't she? It's raining cats and dogs outside and you know her health conditions. Can't she just go there tomorrow?"

"Do you still want your job? Tell her to be here in an hour." He said with an annoyed tone and hung up.

At the Rye family house Addison who was with Madam Kin, the house helper throughout the phone call just stared at the floor without a word.

"I will go and pack. Don't fight for me."

Kin just looked at her and said nothing as she watched her walk out of the kitchen.

Twenty minutes later Addison walked down the stairs with a suitcase in hand. She walked to the kitchen where Kin was sipping her coffee lost in thought. When she noticed Addison she put her cup down and a lone tear fell from her eyes.

"You know when your mother died she made me promise to take care of you in any way I could." She started and her voice became weak as she continued, "but I failed."

She looked at Addison with a pained gaze.

"I'm sorry I failed. You don't deserve what they are doing to you. How can they ill-treat you and send you off to get married to a monster like Torak? How can your father marry that slut 3 months after your mother's death? Why does he hate you so much as if you're the one who killed your own mother? Why is it you? Why are you treated like this by your own father and half sisters? Why doesn't God pity you? You've been treated like trash since the day you were born. Haven't you been through enough?"

Addison just looked at her with a pained heart. For all the 21 years she lived the only nice person in her life was this woman. She vowed never to leave her alone through it all. She was the only mother she ever had. Now that she was leaving the Rye family house she was a little sad that she wouldn't get to see her again. She smiled at the old woman and said,

"I hope we will meet again Mom Kin."

Madam Kin walked her out to the car. The chauffeur ran towards Addison with an umbrella in hand and took her suitcase and accompanied her to the car. Addison and Kin waved at each other until the car was out of sight. Addison just smiled to herself and looked outside the car window admiring the city's night view. It would take them an hour to arrive at the Saine Building meaning they would arrive there at almost midnight. During the drive, Tasha, Addison's half sister called the chauffeur to pick them up at the airport.

"I'm sorry Ms Tasha but now I am accompanying Ms Addison to her future husband's company."

"I really don't care."

"Why don't you contact another chauffeur ma'am because with all due respect, I am accompanying the future Mrs Saine to her husband's company." He said with a slightly harsh tone.

Addison found it cute that almost all the housekeepers of the Rye family were nice to her.

"Some nerve you have to say that old man. I'm giving you an hour, be here in less than an hour." She said and hung up.

The chauffeur didn't say anything to Addison and the silent drive continued. When the car pulled up outside the Saine Building the rain had gotten worse and the wind was gusty. He parked the car and informed old man Rye that they had arrived. A few minutes later he called back and asked to put the phone on speaker.

"Is that brat listening? Okay listen, Addison, Torak is a very important person in this life. I really want you to act accordingly. Don't embarrass me and the Rye family. Just play your part as a wife and you're not getting a ring or a wedding, he's too busy for that. Even if he ill-treats you don't fight back I'm sure you're used to it. "

He said and dropped the call. A few minutes later the chauffeur received a call again from the old man.

"My daughter told you to come and pick her up a long time ago why haven't you arrived there?"

"Mr Saine hasn't come out of the building yet and it's raining and late I can't possibly leave Miss Addison here alone and in the rain."

"What is it with you people and that fool? I'm sure she'll be fine. Hurry and pick up my daughter."

"Mr Ry-" He said but got interrupted by Addison.

"It's okay sir. I will miss you. Take care of Mom Kin and yourself. Don't worry I'm sure Mr Saine will be here in a while."

She took the umbrella and her suitcase and got out of the car. The chauffeur slowly and unwillingly drove away from the building leaving Addison all alone in the rain. She zoomed out for a while and let the umbrella get blown away by the wind. She didn't feel the heavy rain violently hitting her skin nor the vehement wind blowing ferociously on her slender body. She let the tears that she had held up for so long fall. She was tired. All her life she was ill-treated and as if that wasn't enough they married her -no- sold her off to the most ruthless, monstrous, evil person on earth. Someone known to kill without a second thought and most of all someone who doesn't value women. She trembled and fell to her knees hugging them tightly. Maybe if her mother hadn't chosen to get her saved that day none of this would have happened. In a situation where her mother and so-called father had to decide who to save between her and her mother, she was born. Her father had decided to get her mother saved but her mother begged the doctors to save her as she had heard. She was just innocent when her father held her in his arms and glanced at her mother's dead body but he decided to curse her existence and the day she was born. He lost his wife that day all because of her. She cried bitterly for almost half an hour in the violent weather until she was tired and soaked. She smiled to herself and thought.

"Take me now Lord. I think I have endured way more than enough. I can't take this anymore. I can't honestly I don't have anything to live for." and she collapsed.
