The following day, Zara woke up and headed to her company, which had been struggling because the shipments hadn’t arrived. Fortunately, thanks to Zoe working her magic, everything was finally back in place, meaning the fashion show could move forward as planned.
It was time to start choosing the models, but Zara decided to leave that task for another day since she had to visit another company. When she arrived there was a meeting with the investors for the city project was arranged. They went over the necessary details, and later on, Damien joined the meeting.
During the discussion, Damien noticed that Zara seemed a little zoned out—not asleep, but distracted. Damien, who wasn’t much of a talker, waited until after the meeting to quietly ask Zara what was wrong. Zara brushed it off, telling him that everything was
After the meeting, Ethan called Zara into his office
Ethan leaned against the edge of his desk, arms crossed. “Zara, I know something’s bothering you. Don’t tell me it’s nothing. I saw you zoning out in the meeting.”
Zara sighed, trying to mask her thoughts. “It was just a long morning, that’s all. Nothing to worry about. "It's not like you even care" she muttered.
"What did you say? "Nothing " Zara shrugged
Ethan studied her quietly for a moment, his gaze steady. “You’re not the type to lose focus unless something’s pulling you away. I don’t need all the details… but I’d rather hear the truth from you than pretend not to notice.”
Zara finally met his eyes. “You really don’t miss a thing, do you?”
A small smile tugged at Ethan’s lips. “That’s my job. To notice. And to make sure there aren’t any mistakes—on the project, or with you.”
Everything appeared well-organized and running smoothly. With that assurance, Zara returned to the office, assisted the company with a few matters, and then received a call from Gregory.
“Hey, hello… hey, hey Greg, what’s up?” Zara answered.
“I’m okay,” Gregory replied casually. He often called her Zey Zey when he needed a favor, and this time was no different.
“I’m going out with someone,” he continued, “but she’s not fashionable enough. I’m leaving it to you.”
Zara was dumbfounded. She knew Gregory had been dating Isabella, who was one of the most fashionable women she knew. “Wait… is it Isabella?” she asked.
“No. We broke up,” Gregory said bluntly.
“Why?” Zara pressed.
He shrugged. “Oh, you know… we just got tired of each other.”
“Hmm,” Gregory narrowed her eyes. “Tell me the truth. Did you genuinely like her, or was it just because she introduced you to her grandaunt—Donatella Versace?”
Zara smirked. “Well… kind of. But mind you, I also introduced her to plenty of supermodels—Anok Yai, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Barbara Palvin… you name it. So it’s fair play.”
Zara rolled her eyes, but the two shared a light bit of chit-chat before she hung up. A little later, she called to let her team know that Gregory was planning to send her one of his concubines. Ridiculous right?
That evening, when they got home, Nathaniel had returned. Ethan and Damien were already with him, briefing him on the progress of the company.
Meanwhile, Cassandra cornered Zara.
“Zara, I spoke to Selena—the wife of the Lancaster head. She told me her sister's son, Flynn, is in town. He’s already at the Lancaster sample event. Why don’t you two hang out a little, maybe get to know each other?”
Zara’s jaw tightened. She knew it. Her mother never invited her to go anywhere without some hidden agenda.
“Maybe some other time,” Zara muttered, shrugging. “I’ve got things to take care of at the company.”
Cassandra’s smile didn’t waver. “At least try to make it. Have some fun for once.”
