THE MYSTERIOUS WITNESS

After a while, Frans regained consciousness in a strange room. The room was dark, and slowly, his eyes adjusted. He saw through the window that it was already evening. He was shocked to find himself in front of a table with minimal lighting.

"Ugh! Where am I?" he thought, holding his painful neck.

When his vision cleared, he saw a brown envelope on the table. Frans picked it up.

"For me? What's this?" he wondered.

Frans opened it, and it contained documents about financial audits and illegal activities conducted by Wito's company.

"Financial audit?" he thought.

As he flipped through the pages, a flash drive fell out of the package.

Frans was even more perplexed. He examined the documents.

"This is evidence that can be used in court, but it's not enough to defend Andini," he thought.

Just as he was about to process this information, his phone rang. Frans answered it, and it was the same number that had called him earlier.

"Hey, what's the meaning of all this?" Frans asked in a raised tone.

"Mr. Frans, I'll help you defend Andini through these documents. Please study them, and I'll appear at some point," the caller said before hanging up.

"Hello!" Frans shouted, but it was too late. The call had been disconnected.

Frans looked around and saw that it was getting dark. He left the place and found himself in front of a deserted road.

"Where am I? I don't know this area," he thought.

Frans was confused, and suddenly, he was chloroformed and knocked unconscious. When he woke up, he was in his office.

Half an hour later, Frans regained consciousness after someone shook him gently.

"Hey, wake up," the person said softly.

Frans slowly opened his eyes and was surprised to see a woman in front of him.

"Uhm... sorry, who are you?" Frans asked.

"I'm Yani," the woman replied.

Frans looked puzzled, feeling like he knew the woman but couldn't quite place her.

Suddenly, his phone beeped. Frans took it out and read the message from Siska.

"Darling, are you working overtime?" the message read.

Frans replied briefly and put his phone away. He was shocked when the woman suddenly disappeared.

"Where did she go?" he wondered.

Frans looked around and found himself alone in his office. All the employees had gone home, except for the security guard.

He checked his watch, and it was exactly 8 PM.

"It's already night," he thought.

Frans saw the mysterious package on his desk and quickly left the office with it. At the door, he met the security guard.

"Excuse me, Sir. Was there a woman who came into the office earlier?" Frans asked.

The guard furrowed his brow, looking puzzled.

"No, Sir. No one else came in. I found you sleeping in the chair, so I brought you to your office," the guard replied.

Frans was confused.

"There was a woman in the office. She woke me up, Sir. " Frans insisted.

The guard just smiled and remained firm in his statement.

“I swear I didn't see anyone else in the office except you, Sir. " the guard said.

Frans was silent. The guard smiled and tried to calm him down.

"Maybe you should rest, Sir. You might be tired," the guard suggested.

Frans nodded and left the office. Unbeknownst to him, a mysterious man was following him, watching his house.

Meanwhile, Wito was trying to contact someone. He seemed worried about Andini.

"Hello, Mr. Wito," a man's voice answered.

"Rudy, can you do something for me?" Wito asked.

"What is it?" Rudy replied.

Wito thought for a moment, knowing that Frans had agreed to be Andini's lawyer.

"Rudy, take care of Hendro. Do it discreetly," Wito requested.

Rudy thought for a moment before responding.

"Okay, but..." Suddenly, the call dropped, and there was static.

"Rudy, hello... hello..." Wito tried to reconnect.

But the call was disconnected. Wito tried calling Rudy again, but his number was no longer active.

"Damn! What's going on with Rudy?" Wito wondered.

Suddenly, his phone rang again. Wito answered, thinking it was Rudy.

"Hello, Rudy. Did you run out of credit?" Wito asked, sounding slightly annoyed.

But there was no response. Wito's tone turned angry.

"Hey, who is this?" Wito demanded.

"Wito, I'm Riyani, your former secretary whom you killed," the voice replied calmly.

Wito was terrified and slammed the phone down.

"Impossible! Impossible!" Wito thought to himself.

THE NEXT MORNING

A murder case occurred in Bogor. Inspector Abdi immediately checked the crime scene.

"What's the result of your investigation, Sergeant?" Inspector Abdi asked his subordinate.

The police officer just shook his head.

"Sorry, Inspector. I don't understand what happened to the victim. There are no signs of violence. My diagnosis is that the victim might have had a heart attack," the officer said.

Inspector Abdi nodded. He examined the body of a man in the car. The officer continued speaking.

"Oh, yes, Sir. The victim's name is Rudy, and it's estimated that he passed away around three hours ago. The preliminary suspicion is a heart attack. And I found this on the victim's body," he said, handing over evidence.

Inspector Abdi looked at the evidence found near the victim.

"A fax transmission sheet?" he thought.

He examined the phone number listed on the sheet and compared it to the one he received. The numbers were the same.

"Strange. This phone number should no longer be active. But how could it send a message?" he wondered.

Inspector Abdi thought hard. Soon, the forensic team arrived, taking Rudy's body to the hospital for an autopsy while the car was towed to the police station.

Upon arriving at the police station, Inspector Abdi examined Rudy's personal belongings.

"Okay, first, I'll try to turn on his phone," he thought.

Inspector Abdi turned on Rudy's phone, which initially wouldn't turn on due to a dead battery. He found a charger and turned it on. He checked the call log.

"Hmm... it seems he was one of Wito's subordinates," he thought.

He examined the last call Rudy made, which was logged at 11 PM. He turned off the phone again and then examined the fax sheet found in Rudy's car, comparing it to the one he received.

"The writing is the same, and the numbers are the same. Yet, this number should be inactive, but how could it send a message?" he wondered.

Soon, an officer arrived with the forensic report and handed it to Inspector Abdi.

"Sir, here's the forensic report. According to the report, the victim suffered a sudden heart attack," the officer said.

Inspector Abdi nodded.

"Thank you, Sergeant," he replied briefly.

After the officer left, Inspector Abdi read the forensic report.

"Hmm, it says here the victim died around 9:30 PM. But the call log shows the last call was at 11 PM. Strange," he thought.

Inspector Abdi called his subordinate again and asked him to check the fingerprints on the phone. After a while, the officer returned.

"Sir, the fingerprints on the phone belong only to Rudy. There's no one else's. But we found another fingerprint in the car," the officer said, handing over the fingerprint impressions to Inspector Abdi.

Inspector Abdi looked at them briefly.

"Check the different fingerprints. It could be a murder case," he said.

"Yes, Inspector," the officer replied.

The officer took the fingerprint impressions to a computer and scanned them. After a while, the owner of the fingerprint appeared.

"What?! Riyani's fingerprint?!" Inspector Abdi exclaimed in surprise.

He checked the name on the computer, and it was indeed Angela Ariyani, also known as Riyani, a murder victim from a few years ago.

"Sergeant, how is it possible that the fingerprint of someone who died is found in the car?" Inspector Abdi asked.

The officer was puzzled, shaking his head.

"This is what puzzles me. But we'll re-investigate the car to confirm," the officer said.

"Alright. Hopefully, there's a breakthrough in this case," Inspector Abdi said.
