...( Continue from previous chapter )...
Aurora stepped into the classroom, clutching her bag like it was her shield. The room was already buzzing — laughter in one corner, the tapping of keyboards in another.
Her eyes scanned for an empty desk.
There was None.
She swallowed, her pulse quickening. Just as she was about to consider sneaking out to ask the professor for help, her gaze landed on the very back row. A single empty chair.
But it wasn’t truly empty.
The boy sitting beside it was slouched in his chair, one leg stretched out casually, spinning a pen between his fingers. His uniform looked just a little less proper than everyone else’s — shirt slightly unbuttoned, tie loose, sleeves rolled up to reveal strong forearms. His hair was messy in that deliberate, I-woke-up-like-this way ---messily handsome, and his sharp jawline could have been sculpted by trouble itself.
He was staring at her now — a lazy smirk tugging at his lips.
“Well, well… looks like fate’s finally doing me a favor,” he said, tilting his head toward the empty seat. “Sit. Unless you like standing for an hour. "Your highness”
Aurora hesitated, but the thought of standing out even more was unbearable. She quickly slid into the seat, trying to avoid eye contact.
The moment she sat, he leaned a little closer. Well Your Highness can you do me a favour and tell me your “Name?”
“Aurora,” she replied quickly.
“Mmm… pretty name,” he drawled, like he was tasting the sound of it. “I’m Lucas". Back row’s mine. Now you’re in my territory.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Your territory?”
He grinned wider. “Yeah. It’s where the fun people sit. And the smart ones… though most people don’t realize I’m both.”
Aurora blinked, slightly thrown off. “You’re… smart?”
He chuckled, leaning back. “Top three in the year. I just don’t wear it on my forehead like Ethan out there.”
Her lips twitched despite herself. Narcissist she murmured in her hear and then said “You mean Ethan?”
“See? You’ve already noticed him.” Adrian’s voice dipped teasingly. “Careful, highness. I don’t like competition.”
The professor walked in, cutting off any response she could make. But Aurora could feel his gaze flick to her every few minutes, like he was already plotting what to say next.
Something told her sitting here was going to be… complicated.
And she started preparing for her first class
