CHAPTER 4 – THE GENTLE GENIUS

...( continue from previous chapter )...

The corridors of the college were a maze — wide, sunlit, and crowded with students chatting in small groups. Aurora clutched her schedule, scanning the room numbers as she walked.

“Room 207… 207…” she muttered under her breath, feeling her pulse quicken. The numbers seemed to skip around on the doors, mocking her confusion.

She turned a corner too quickly — and collided with someone.

Her breath caught.

The first thing she noticed was the sharp contrast — his ashy brown hair falling neatly over his forehead, framing a pair of deep, almond-shaped eyes behind thin-rimmed glasses. But these weren’t just ordinary eyes. They were piercing yet soft, the kind that could look straight through someone’s excuses and into their truth. They held a calm intensity, and for a moment, she forgot the hallway even existed.

He looked more like he had stepped out of a magazine than a science lab. His skin was smooth, his features delicate yet defined, and when the corners of his lips lifted into a small smile… it was disarming.

“Are you okay?” His voice was low, warm — the kind that made people feel instantly safe.

Aurora blinked rapidly, shaking herself out of the trance. “Ah— yes! Sorry, I wasn’t looking…” She glanced down at her schedule awkwardly. “Um… I’m looking for Room 207. Do you know where it is?”

He adjusted his glasses, still smiling, and pointed down the hall. “Second left, then straight ahead. I’m heading in that direction — I’ll walk with you.”

They began walking side by side, and Aurora couldn’t help but notice the way he carried himself — calm, composed, almost graceful.

By the time they reached the classroom, a few students had started to notice.

“Is that Ethan with someone?”

“He’s actually talking to her?”

“Of course he’s helping her… he’s always nice to everyone.”

Aurora didn’t understand why their whispers carried such weight — but the way they said Ethan made it clear: he wasn’t just any student.

Ethan gave her one last smile before heading to his own seat. “Good luck on your first day, Aurora.”

She froze. She hadn’t told him her name.

Furthermore, she was still confused and wondering how does he know her name when she didn't tell him.

Then suddenly bell rings, and she remembers to enter into classroom.
