( In the car )

     The ride was silent from both parties, Anita and her son whom was now wearing a new pair of jeans , sneakers and shirt .

   His eyes travel through the passing houses and cars in utter silence however his heart was banging like a drum .

" Who were those people ? "

His little mind wonder staring down his seatbelt and finally at his mother who seemed anxious

" Are we there yet ? "

He voice out sounding rough but still clear in Anita ears who forced a calm smile

" No honey "

She replied not intending to say more which he didn't mind,

his eyes locked back to the windows touching the bandage on his hand slightly .

    wanting more but to stretch it a little however due to the itchy

  He decided to held himself feeling the possibility of the stinging pain he was going to feel if he does so .

" Dear when we get there remember to maintain yourself you don't want mummy running around looking for you do we ? "

She warned strictly her eyes still on the road until it finally landed on a majestic building,

   With the words boldly written CP law firm on the front

" Mummy look "

Barnabas yelled excitedly his eyes wide open and his chin up to take a better view of the majestic building in awe

" Hmm "

She replied causally not interested in the fine designs of the building .

   but instead her eyes were locked on a parking spot right in front of her

which she quickly drive in parking her car before climbing out alongside with her son who held unto his mother hand but his eyes wondered around the parking lot .

    Which seemed empty but the same time was still able to see one or two individuals

" Let's go and see daddy "

She informed her son who nodded simply taking few steps forward into the entrance only to be stopped by some guards

" Sorry Mrs we have to scan you and your son before entering "

The first informed his voice deep and a bit intimidating

" What ! '

She exclaimed a bit surprised last time she came, there wasn't such rule,

  " Why the sudden change ? "

She asked herself staring at the two bold men blocking the path in which made her frowned .

   But still obeyed letting them both scanned herself and her son with some kind of scanning machine

which Soon beeped loudly startling Barnabas who slightly back away into his mother back

" check him "

The first ordered letting the second approached Barnabas who tighten his grip on her hiding desperately

" Don't touch my son "

She yelled loudly attracting some pair of curious eyes

" We need to check him to know the object his hiding "

The first explained to both mother and son hoping they would understand and cooperate

     However Anita yelled loudly not letting anyone come close to her son who looked scared .

" he's just a boy what do you expect him to be hiding ? "

She question her eyes scanning each of them like an hawk

" A knife or any other dangerous object "

The first answered indifferently with a straight face which made her frowned and a bit dumbfounded

" A kid hiding a knife what kind of a mother do you assume me to be ? "

She question her voice high with a hint anger

" Mrs I think you should calm down we are just doing our jobs "

" And am also doing mine as a mother that's why I forbid you in nearing my son "

She replied simply her eyes cold and resentful

" Mrs we just need to check what your son is hiding there's no need creating a scene here "

The first reply already annoyed by her lack of cooperation

" And if I refuse are you going to use force to check my son ? "

She asked sounding sarcastic

" If you wish to go in your son needs to be check  that's the rules here , hope you understand we are just being cautious "

The first explained palely signaling the second to complete his task.

 which he did by forcefully dragging Barnabas by his left arm to check him while  pushing Anita aside unintentionally who fall unto the heavy floor with a bang bringing upmost silence.

" Ah ! "

  Her loud cry echo into the ears of everyone  she was in pain holding her stomach tightly

" Mummy ! "

Barnabas called out softly pulling his arm from the guard strong grip before rushing to her side in panic and fear

"What's wrong with her ? "

A woman whispered to her friend who seemed to be wondering as well

" She seemed to be in pains "

Another murmured out in concerned

" Who knows if she just pretending to gain attention "

Another murmured under her breath not impressed but soon frowned at the sight of blood

" B - l - ood !  She's bleeding "

She cried out catching everyone attention who soon notice the over flow of blood

" Quickly call for an ambulance who knows if she's dieing "

The first cried out panicked taking few steps forward towards the now unconscious lady to check on her condition

    but before she could approached closer to take a closer look

  She saw her figure already picked up like a bride, her complexion pale within a few seconds

" Move ! "

The first guard hastily spoke only to feel a grip on his suit

" Stop ! where are you taking my mother ? "

Barnabas demanded his eyes focus on the guard who frowned at the boy with bitterness

It was all because of the little brat , if only they cooperate like the rest than such mess wouldn't have happened 

He doesn't have time to explain to children

" Hospital !! "

He simply utter out those words harshly before rushing forward being followed by Barnabas closely who grab her mother purse along.

                   Back at the hospital

     Moses sighed painfully his eyes on his bandage arm but his mind elsewhere ,

   It been three hour and few minutes but still Leo lay motionless, his pale like lips has become even paler by a second which made him anxious

" Who could have done such thing ? "

He thought wanting to know the answer himself

  " Boss ! "

Precious called out while approaching him

  her complexion a bit dull and her eyes red and swollen indicating she must had cried yet again

" How are you feeling now ? "

He asked concerned only for her to nod slightly

" A bit dizzy but good and

you ? "

She asked back referring to his arm which made him chuckle

" Good at least "

He replied simply his eyes on Leo who still lay on his bed accompany with the beeping sounds of the machine

" What did those officers asked you ? "

He asked wanting to know even after guessing the answers himself

" If I had seen the faces of the attackers and what they said , why they attacked or if I recognized their voices ? "

She muttered softly hiding the sourness of her throat

" And what did you reply ? "

He asked strictly

" I did what you ask of me , I didn't say a word to them both , however I still don't quite understand the reason why I mustn't tell them ?

They might help in catching the criminals if we give them enough reasons and evidence "

She reasoned a bit confused and lost for Moses weird demand

" The attacked wasn't any accident or considences   "

He stated which wasn't a surprise to her

" Of course it isn't "

She murmured under her breath physically exhausted

" Am pretty sure it was international   this attacked was supposed to cause a roar from the press "

He said in logic only for Precious to furrowed her brows in confusion

" I don't understand "

" And you don't have to all you need to know is that you shouldn't involve your self with the police

    We simply can't afford to trust them at least not until we are sure that we can really trust them "

He said logically only for Precious to nod.

Even though she didn't quite understand the reason behind Moses stubbornness in trusting the police ,

she still decided to listen and follow his every word

" You should go home and rest you look tired "

Moses suggested only for Precious to shook her head

" Going home will only informed my aunt about what happened

  and if she does know she's going to inform my dad which I don't want ,

it will only worsen his condition  "

She stated with a worried expression before locking eyes on the fair but hagged lady who was fast asleep on a small couch by the side .

" I think I will just stay and accompany Leo mother for the time being "

She informed Moses who nodded understanding her worry

" You should head home am sure your wife must be worried "

Speaking of his wife made him a bit worried.

   if what he suspected was true then his family could also be in danger

" Hmm "

He replied simply about to leave when his eyes caught on someone by the door waving at him

" Paul ! "

Moses frowned upon seeing yet another police officer and couldn't help but wonder  why paul had decided to pay a visit ?  

    when his men were already doing the questioning

" Excuse me  "

He muttered loudly enough for Precious to hear before taking few steps out the room

   Towards a certain fellow who took few steps back from Moses who came to a pause,

  his eyes narrow at Paul who ignored his stare

" What is it Paul ? "

He asked sounding rude and demanding

" I came to check if my favorite person was still kicking and standing "

He replied casually eyeing the unconscious form of Leo only for Moses to block his view hastily

" Let's go elsewhere and talk "

Moses suggested taking the lead only for Paul to follow

    Their walk wasn't far but a bit distance from the Ward and most crowded places

" And what reason did you come Paul "

Moses asked rather rudely which wasn't a surprise

" My people complained about you not letting the witness talk on her own free Accord "

Paul stated seriously which made Moses chuckle

" Well it's not helping our investigation cause we need the witness statement "

Paul continue hoping Moses would understand at least for once

" Call it selfish am just protecting my co-workers safety "

Moses replied not caring about the stern look he was receiving from Paul,  who mentally wanted to slap himself out of frustration but held himself back

He couldn't afford to argue with Moses at least not in a crowded place like the hospital

" The police can do that just fine I promise nothing  is going to happen to both the party '

Paul rub his temper trying to control his anger

" Look ! I don't care if you see yourself as an invisible god but I do promise you one thing "

" Which is ? "

Moses asked standing an inch away from Paul who smile boldly

" That I don't care "

The stinging stare between the two men was fierce and non was ready to let the other win

" I think you are also forgetting that am also a witness  well not entirely one but my statement is still important and enough "

His next words made Paul suspicious and curious which he quickly declined

" No need ! we only need the female not you, at least trusting her words won't be a problem but trusting yours will be like a wide goose chase "

Paul openly said remembering the time's Moses made a fool out of him and his men

" Am only available my people aren't, it's your luck if you want to cooperate or not "

He replied simply his eyes narrow down at Paul whom smug his shoulder not ready to give Moses the chance

" No need ! " 

" we still have other methods we can use to get what we

want "

Paul assured Moses who frowned upon listening to Paul

" Then why waste my time ? "

Moses asked his chin up wanting to add more only for his pupils to shook slightly in disbelief and finally fear

" What is it this time ?"

Paul murmured loudly not gaining attention before looking behind as well only to find a woman

  laying on a stretcher being rolled by group of nurses and a doctor

" Anita ! "

   Moses called out catching Paul attention who gazed back at him in utter silence however as soon as the stretcher was rolled passed two figures followed behind .

A young man and a child whom legs were running after the stretcher yelling

" Mummy ! Mummy ! "

" Barnabas ! " 

Moses soon regained himself calling out to the little boy who stared his way .

   His eyes big and swollen before running towards him crying sadly

" Barnabas ! "

He called out yet again bending to his hight

" Dad ! Mummy ! bleeding , blood ! "

He chocked and sob trying to explain but was unable to since his words were mixed with both sob and tears, he could only point at the stretcher wanting to follow as well

  Moses who didn't understand a single word from his son mouth could only worry the more simply pick Barnabas on his free arms before following behind in other to catch up  leaving Paul behind who stretch his head dumbfounded.

      Even though he knew that Moses was married with kids

he didn't actually know or seen his wife and child.

   now seeing him panicked and running after the lady,

he could assume her to be the wife of the lawyer and couldn't help but be  curious himself upon what had happened ?

but yet again restrain himself from doing so

" It's their family business "

He reminded his curious heart gazing around to spot a suspicious fellow

  who was dressed casual but stood out mostly  due to his black hat and mask

" Suspicious "

    He muttered to himself studying the figure from the distance ,

  only to spot him walking down some stairs disappearing from his sight only for him to follow behind in hurry steps to catch up with his suspect .

______The waiting room _______

( 30 minutes later )

    Moses eyes travel round the narrow hall anxiously patiently waiting for the doctor .

    however was still curious upon the incident that dragged his wife into such condition

" What happened ? "

He finally asked the tall man who stood at the side his brows frowned in worry upon her condition

   Now listening to the familiar figure in the company he could only swollen hard and take the bullet .

" It was an accident "

He stated first before adding

" I and my second was just doing our duty assigns to us,  when she suddenly refused to cooperate when we wanted to check her son "

He explained not fully in details only for

Barnabas poke his small head from the side wanting to say something but before he could utter out a sentence

   Moses had already pulled his head back into his arm

" That doesn't explain why she's in this condition "

He said sounding cold, angry and distance

" My second accidentally pushed her while trying to grab the boy and she ended up in this condition "

He explained palely not saying more and hoping he would understand his side as well

    Moses frowned upon listening to him but restrain himself from doing something horrible.

     His eyes fall back on the glass door before gazing away just hoping everything was okay

  Not knowing how long they all stood there waiting the door finally opened and a female doctor walked out alongside with a nurse

" Doctor how's my wife ? "

Moses hurried towards her a bit anxious

" Luckily both mother and child are fine  "

    Even though he was relieved to hear that his wife was fine,

he was still startled by the sudden news

" Child ? "

    He asked dumbfounded to receive such shocking information  but soon regained himself while listening about the condition of his wife

" She's being moved to a room and will have to stay to receive further treatment "

The doctor added simply

" Can I see her ? "

    He asked softly his eyes filled with worry but was awfully refused asking him to come back the next day

   Since the patient needed rest which wasn't a problem to Moses

" Hmm ! "

  his eyes soon fall on the cause of the accident and he's eyes subconsciously felt cold and bottomless staring at the guard

" Then I be on my way "

      The doctor informed taking few steps forward and disappearing in the mixed of people alongside with the nurse

" Dad will mummy be alright ? "

Barnabas voice out which was childish and milky but loud enough for all to listen

" Hmm mummy is fine "

He assured his son who sighed softly like a little adult which amused him a lot

" Daddy ! sleepy "

He informed while yawning rubbing his drowsy eyes

only to receive a gentle tap on his back

" Then sleep "

He said smoothly rubbing his back but eyes on the guard which was a bit uncomfortable making the other look away embarrassedly

" Let's talk about the the  incident properly "

He said his voice deep and eerily

🌹______lola restaurant ________🌹

    Henry lazily sip from his wine while sniffing the cool air

   His eyes on the wine which felt distance and dazed from the world, He sighed softly taking in a second sip. 

" Henry ! "

  A sudden voice called out which attracted his attention he could always recognized that voice anywhere.

    gazing at Melody with a smile which made him look youthful and handsome

" what a coincidence you're here "

She whispered softly her voice soft and pleasant

"  Hmm "

He replied simply which made her smile the more

   her eyes twinkle while taking a seat close to he's

" It's been long am sure our meeting isn't just any coincidence "

He stated which got her chuckle softly while shaking her head

" You are good it's been so long but yet you know me so well "

   She replied causally eyes on Henry face which sink in regrets but soon forced a small smile sipping from his glass

" Tell me what do you want ? "

   He asked lazily staring straight at her small oven face which holds the same beauty, he once remember

" Nothing much I heard a lawyer was attacked last night "

She casually asked which made him laugh understanding her hidden words

" How interesting "

He stated blankly with a light smile on his handsome face

" Don't go too far he's important to me "

She casually said catching his glance

" A lover of yours but yet again I heard he's married,  How can you stood so low to be a mistress ? "

He bitterly utter out only for her to chuckle at his words

    " No ! not a lover if I actually like someone I wouldn't mind forcing him to be mine

    but yet again he's a very important figure to me "

She said simply with a serious look which made Henry smile the more

" I would've love to back out if that's you want  but unfortunately I can't it's not under my control and you know that well "

He Informed with a sorry sigh wanting to stand only for Melody to frowned

" Then let's make a simple deal "

She suggested with a complicated expression which made him laugh lightly

" What deal tell me am listening ?  "

" you let him be and am willing to pay for the troubles you are in "

She voice out simply which caught his attention

" How do you know ? "

He asked suspiciously

" I have my way and besides this is a win win situation for the both of us "

She said in a confidence manner

" Let me think "

He quiet her down pondering at her words but yet again a bit trouble

" Hmm l would have but I don't like taking risk "

He said casually which made her surprise

" Henry you are a man that loves taking risk ,why the sudden fear in making one with me ? "

She asked joking only for him to reply

" Am not scared just being cautious mostly around you

   we both know each other very

well after all you are the mother of my kids "

He reminded Melody whom smile sadly

" Of course"

She paused

" but yet again you don't always have to be careful around me "

She said simply her eyes on Henry who nodded indifferently

" you changed "

His long fingers tap the table silently for mere seconds

" That's enough reason "

He stated not intending to give up

" I heard that lawyer helped you once why the sudden urge to kill him now ? "

She asked a bit curious herself

" Well back then we were just doing business

   but now that the business is over there's no need being nice "

He said lazily staring down at the oddly red wine do dazed and lost

" I see  "

She said softly her eyes not leaving his face who just looked away

" It been years since we talked like this "

She murmured under her breath her eyes not leaving Henry

who sip from his wine ignoring her presence

" don't worry about the case I will ask someone to take

the fall "

She assured Henry who smirked

" Not interested in that deal of yours "

He said seriously which wasn't a surprise to Melody

" Don't worry about that just taking as a meeting gift  "

She said simply

Which made Henry frowned

" Don't need your help "

He voice out only for Melody to ignored while standing

" Or will you rather spend the rest of your life in jail ? "

She asked causing Henry to look around not uttering another word

" By the way dad and mom ann.

Is coming up I sincerely hope you attend this time "

With that she walked off leaving Henry thinking who grumpy at her words

    but soon his attention was caught by the continuous ringing of his phone making him sighed staring at the caller

" Hello ! "

He muttered loudly only for his eyes brows to tighten just listening to the other party

" You ldoit ! "

He yelled loudly attracting the downstairs customers

" If you don't clean up that mess I promise to clean you instead "

With that he hang up angrily rubbing his temper

" Why is it am always surrounded by fools ? "

He murmured angrily downing the full glass of wine

🦋. Chapter seven 🦋.

The quiet breeze blew gently touching the edges of leaves which dance with the rhythm

However the long and exhausted run of Paul made him unable to felt it

     He glared around in sight of the suspicious figure but to avail

" damn it "

He cursed bitterly rubbing his temper looking around the unfamiliar but yet familiar area

He currently standing

    His eyes never leaving the small trees and countless patients and passerby only for his phone to rang gaining his attention

" Hello ! "

He replied breathlessly

" Where are you ? "

Jeck asked from the other line catching Paul off guard

" Still at the hospital anything new I can relate to ? "

He asked eyes still on his surrounding

" Yep something big "

" How big ? "

" Another body has been reported "

Jeck reported which made Paul paused

" At where ? "

" At the post centre station the usual "

Jeck reported yet again

" Alright I be on my way there "

Paul said simply

" Don't bother I just received another text informing me the body has already been moved to the st morgue "

" alright I meet you there "

Paul said quickly about to hang up

" Why me ? you can ask the others to accompany you "

Jeck complained which wasn't a surprise to Paul who rolled his eyes

" You have to and there's no whining about it "

Paul utter out loud enough to receive grumpily before hanging up with a beep

   Before dialing and calling mia who quickly answered

" Hello ! Boss "

She saluted from the other line which made him chuckle

" There's no need being formal "

He reminded only to receive a hum

" I called to inform you

am falling out from the premises and I want you and your partner to protect both the victim and the goof off a lawyer "

Paul said simply annoyanced by his name which made her nodded in understanding

" But where are you heading to boss ? "

She couldn't help but ask noticing the seriousness of his voice

" Something big came up I will inform you once I get the full info "

He promised before adding

" Hope you won't disappoint me , Moses might be injured but that doesn't mean he's going to lay off for now ,

your eyes should always be on him do you understand "

He stated hopefully only for her to nod yet again her eyes serious and focus on the task

" Yes I won't, you can rest assured "

With that he hang up with a beep before furthering his steps only to bump into an older figure who almost fall but was quick enough to catch him

    He was dressed neatly in a pastor robe whom seemed to be in a hurry

" Are you alright ? "

He asked his voice lashed with worry helping him on his feet

" I think am good "

He replied simply but still held his chest his eyes clouded with worry before taking a few steps forward absent minded

" Hmm "

   Paul replied not knowing what to say more

   his eyes drift off as soon the old man was out of his sight before furthering his steps towards the parking lot

Samuel walked in a hurry rushing towards the reception

Table to ask for his son condition

  only to felt a small tag on his trousers looking down

   he was a bit surprised to find his grandson Barnabas

" Grandpa !"

He called out with all smile catching Samuel off guard

" Barnabas what ? How are you here ? "

He asked totally shocked and surprise bending over his hight 

" Daddy ! "

Barnabas replied pointing sideway towards his left which he stared at to find Moses walking towards both father and grandson

" Moses ! "

He called out in relief but still the bandage arm didn't get unnoticed by Samuel who panicked yet again

" Dad ! "

Moses called out awkwardly surprised to see his father

    It was no secret of both of  their continues argument each time, they see each other.   

   Samuel always had a problem with his son  job ,  while Moses always disagree with everything that ever comes out from his father mouth,

to make it short their relationship was never a healthy one,

that was why he hardly call or visited his father

" What are you doing here ? "

He asked sounding unsure why he even asked, but yet again he was curious at the reason this father of his came wondering if he was in good shape and health.

" I came for you, I heard what happened from the office "

Even though he was actually surprised and happy to see Moses healthy and fine  he restrain himself from showing such emotion

  While on the other hand Moses was a bit shocked by his father words and the very meaning behind.

   Even though he was stubborn to admit it, Moses was indeed please to listen to his dad concerned .

but too proud to show such side, he could only nod twice awkwardly, but yet again he was surprised at how informed his father was since he didn't even call

   With the tension of rushing leo in the hospital and him adding to his injury the thought of him calling his father didn't cross his mind or could it be his wife but yet again

  But he didn't even tell his wife about such accident then how would she informed his father .

Samuel who sighed in relief only noticed a small woman purse in Moses hand which was held carelessly

" Is Anita here? "

He's sudden question caught Moses off guard who glare silently thinking of different ways in passing such news

" Grandpa ! ! Mummy hurt "

The little guy reported which got the older man confused staring sideway at Moses for an explanation .

    He was still angry at the fault that Moses who was involved in a serious attack  but decided to keep it a secret .

    And didn't even call to inform him about such things,

if he didn't call his work place after trying his number billions Times, he wouldn't have find out the awful truth .

" Barnabas what happened ? "

Seeing Moses not ready to talk he gently asked his grandson  who started explaining all single details about the accident of his mother ,

   before bursting out crying only to be console by his grandfather who hug him .

" Moses ! "

He wanted to ask if what he heard was true it was a bit of a shock to listen to his grandson about such matter,

Not just Moses even his daughter in law was involved in a accident, making him furious but also worried and anxious.

   he wanted to know if it was just a accident or it was done by someone else deliberately

  his mind linger about Melody and couldn't help but felt more deplease

But for now he just wanted to be sure if his daughter was fine

" Don't worry she's on save hands the doctor has already perform surgery and she's already resting "

Moses blabber out his hands sweating and for some reason he couldn't help but feel guilty 

   He has always knew his father as a strict person who always like being obeyed and feared 

   And due to this habit of he's, and due to this reason his mother soon divorce his father traveling back to her family and leaving him behind.

  Due to that  he has always had excuse to hate the old man .

    . However ever since he became a pastor he changed drastically but yet again, which was a bigger surprised to him

" Surgery ! that serious hope she didn't break a bone or something ? "

Samuel murmured under his breath but loud enough for Moses to hear ; 

seeing his father angry expression made his back shiver in guilt even more

he had blamed himself for his wife condition and couldn't help but blabber out about the surgery

   Not adding the topic of his wife pregnancy and almost miscarriage

  he was too scared to listen to his father lessons if he knew that , he didn't even know about his wife pregnancy then he wonder what his father might say to him.

" Don't worry dad she's good now just resting "

He assured Samuel who nodded

" Have you already informed your mother in law ? "

Just listening to his father mentioning that name made him frowned .

    Both his father and wife didn't even know how selfish and narrow minded that woman was

" Not yet "

He replied truthfully with a calm face but his heart cursed in disgust

" How can you not informed her yet ?

  she's have all the right to know what happened to her child so do I "

Samuel lecture not happy with Moses yet again.

  he had always wonder why Moses was always slow when it comes to family affair but very calculative when it comes to his job

" I will call her "

He muttered loudly while standing checking his pocket to bring out his cell phone

" I think we shouldn't call her after all Anita condition is already better "

Moses suggested only to receive a stain look from his father who wasn't very happy listening to Moses suggestion.

" nonsense ! "

He exclaimed a bit disappointment yet again

" That would be rude of us after all , she has always been Anita mother before she became your wife "

He added quickly simply dialing the woman number placing it on his ear

" But dad there's no need "

Before he could convince his father to dropped such idea the other line quickly pick up

" Hello ! this is Moses father calling "

Even though Moses could not listen from where he stood

   He could clearly tell from the small smile on his face that had agreed to come over

" Okay I will inform him "

With that he hang up staring sideway at Moses

" She agreed to come "

Samuel said palely before adding worriedly

" I want to see Anita "

He said only for Moses to frowned remembering the doctor words

" I wanted as well but the doctor refused for now

    I think we have to wait a bit longer than we expected "

Moses informed feeling a bit wronged,

    but remain calm making Samuel sighed out while shaking his head .

" at least she's fine that's all that matters and besides I think you should get some rest as well "

Samuel suggested to Moses who shook his head

" Am not entirely hurt "

He assured his father who frowned at his response staring at his half torn sleeve,

   which seemed bandage and his eyes which was red and red from lack of sleep

   Made him worry even more than before

" At least you are a patient it's better you get some rest "

Samuel advised simply with a warning look

   which made him swollen back the words down his throat

" Hmm "

" Dad since you are here why don't you take Barnabas home and care for him "

Moses suggested which caught Samuel attention

" No ! I won't leave "

Samuel decided not intending to move

" Dad am not asking you to leave, am just pleading with you to care for Barnabas for today

  Moses explain to his father who sighed but nodded

" And besides we won't be alone mother in law is coming "

Once again he assured his father who didn't say a thing even though he never truly like the woman

   He didn't want it to be so obvious in front of his father

Samuel instructed his son who gaze at Barnabas with a calm but soft smile .

  who had tears drop on his eyes making look pitiful and cute

" Barnabas you stay with Grandpa for tonight don't cause trouble "

He warned his son who nodded dully wiping his tears before staring back at his father

🌹ST Morgue🌹

Paul Walked silently towards the entrance before staring at the white but eerie building with a complicated expression.

" Huh !  "

Jack inhaled deeply a bit worried

" You okay ? "

Paul couldn't help but ask noticing Jack's abnormal behavior

" How do you expect me to be okay ? "

He asked sarcastically only for Paul to frowned soon understanding his friend troubled heart

" Oh ! "

Paul palely replied simply stepping forward accompanied by jack whom calmly walked into the building

   which felt eerily just by staring at it and the supposed warmed yellowish color lights which was supposed to have the warm welcoming feeling

  Could only attract flies making it a bit dim and creepy

" Oh finally you're here "

A female greeted warmly her brown eyes reflecting her charm and beauty of a woman

    Her white coat a bit stain by the sides with what seemed like blood , her hair messy and a small report was hard firmly in her right hand .

" Jade ! "

Paul greeted with a calm smile his eyes wondered round the hallway and finally at the empty desk which seemed odd

" Where are the rest ? "

He asked a bit curious

" Oh they all went out for dinner "

She replied simply with a yawn.

" And you ? "

" I wasn't that hungry and besides someone had to stay behind to receive the bodies "

She explained calmly her eyes soon fall on jack which made her lips twitch

" Jack ! "

She called sounding rude and annoyed which wasn't a surprise

" Honey ! hope you aren't still angry right ? "

Paul didn't know how to feel standing in the middle of this ackward situation between the couple .

      His eyes fall simply on both husband and wife feeling the tension from both sides

" Jade ! The body "

He soon went down to business  catching both of their attention

" Hmm ! Come with me "

Without wasting much time, she simply turned and further her steps into the quiet hallway being followed quietly by both men ,

before both finally coming across a dark blue door

  Which was slightly opened by jade walking into the dim lighted room

" What's that smell ? "

Jack complained the moment he walked in which made jade roll her eyes not answering such lame question

    However the moment jack eyes landed on the shape like figure ( the corpse ) which was covered with a white cloth he soon realize where the stench came from.

   Unlike jack who was behind pinching his nose in disgust Paul was completely different not minding the Rotten smell

after all it wasn't his first time and certainly won't be his last

" the body haven't been taken care of yet  "

She apologized sincerely not minding the smell , after all it was her job and wasn't that disgusted with it either

" No need we understand "

    Paul replied simply watching jade quickly raised the cloth exposing the sight of horror which made Paul pupils shook in shock

     however jack reaction was quite different and frightening from Paul

Who soon Rush out holding his mouth

" The body was already a bit decayed when it was bought here "

Jade commented from the side watching jack frightened stare and him finally rushing out

" Cause of death ? "

Paul asked catching jade attention who Soon handed a blue file which was closed to the body

" drowning ! "

Jade palely replied with a sigh

" Drowning ? "

Paul asked a bit confused staring at the cold corpse of the female whose face have been filled with scares and stitches

" Yes However we still found some brusies and knife cuts all around her body "

" Domestic violence ? "

Paul asked wanting to be sure himself

" Not quite sure seemed to be an assult "

She thought out in pity

" Was her face like this when she was bought here ? "

He asked his eyes lock on the corpse face which felt less scary by every stare

" It was way more horrible than now "

Jade explain still remembering the fright she had the moment she first saw her

" Her facial features were totally disfigured ,her nose was shared and her lips were cut into a thin line

   And the left side of her face were covered with tissues and blood

    It was completely horrible and cruel "

Jade explain feeling a bit strange just talking about it

" It seems like whoever killed her either pushed her down a cliff or was just trying to disfigured her so we won't be able to identify her probably "

She guess but still couldn't find the main reason for such evil deed .

   for the past few weeks many cases of strange deaths has been reported

    Some stabbed, others burned or either drowned but this time bit was a bit too different and cruel

" How long has the victim been dead ? "

" About a week or two not quite sure yet "

She replied with a calm face before staring back at Paul who nodded in understanding

" Any family members ? "

Paul questioned further checking the file with a dull and complicated expression

" Her husband "

She replied causally

" She's married ? "

Paul pointed out the word

" Hmm ! her wedding ring and her other stuff found with her has been collected

   By the police for more investigation

however the moment any of the family members do come I promise to call "

Jade reply simply staring sideways at Paul who nodded shaking his head in understanding

" Then I will be waiting "

He said before turning wanting to leave

" Paul ! "

Jade called out rather softly but loud enough to halt Paul steps

" is there something else ? "

" I heard from my foolish husband that you are investigating the corrupt lawyer ? "

Even though the question was a bit strange he still nodded honestly

" Stop ! "

She warmed with a serious look on her face which Paul had never seen before

" W - - - "

Before he could require more jack sudden tapping caught his attention

   His eyes shifted sideway at a certain person who held his nose In paleness

" Huh ? "

He answered oddly which jack didn't seem to noticed

" Let's head back now the chief called "

" What seemed to be the problem ? "

Paul asked his voice low but his eyes focus

" I just received a call from the team leader; He wants us to head back to the Station "

Jack explained a bit puzzle himself but refused to say out his thoughts

" Right now ? "

"  Hmm it seems to be urgent "

Jack replied simply staring sideways at his wife

   who seemed quite busy checking the body to noticed his stare

" Alright then we shouldn't waste time"

Jack nodded in understanding heading out first alongside with Paul whom steps soon halt gazing behind the slight open door with a complicated expression on his face

" What's the problem ? "

His partner asked sensing Paul odd behavior

" Nothing ! "

The word nothing was a bit heavy in his heart

   he so wanted to ask jack questions concerning what his wife words might mean but held himself

" Let's go "

He muttered loudly mostly to himself walking forward towards the entrance with different thoughts floating in his mind .

   Moses eyebrows furrowed in displeasure just staring at the figure who was dressed grand and costly

     What even made him even more displeased was the fact that the woman herself didn't seemed to care and was in a hurry to leave after few seconds of her arriver

" Aunt ! "

He greeted not thinking of calling her his mom- in- law privately

  After all in his own thinking such woman doesn't deserve to be called one

" Ah ! my dearest son "

   Mrs Ella replied causally eyeing Moses who was dressed causally in a patient cloth which was twice Bigger than his usual size ,

   his usual haircut now seemed messy However his full body reflect his cold aura towards the woman right in front of him

    His right elbow wrapped and simply place in a cast for support

" You are late "

He reminded the woman who nodded with a sigh

    Her eyes staring straight ahead mostly on the other patient in disgust

   whom were busy minding their business before staring back at her son in law

  who was neither smiling nor frowning 

" You can't blame me after all when your dad called I was actually in the spar ( beauty salon )

     I couldn't just leave my hair was still undone "

She explained simply which made Moses gritted his teeth holding back his anger

" The salon "

He muttered more like a whispered,   his eyes gradually turned cold but still didn't say more

" And you what happened to you ? "

She asked sounding curious for brift seconds her eyes shifting to his injured arm and finally at his face .

" Just had a little accident "

He replied poliently  trying his best to sound respectfully

" Oh ! "

She murmured under her breath shaking her head

" And Anita ? "

She asked causally eyes still glued oy Moses who parted his lips

" She's good now "

He replied simply not intending to say more

" Oh ! Then tell me her room number let me talk to her "

She asked sounding a bit concerned

" She's resting no distrub "

He only use a few words to stop her who nodded understanding

"  Then I'll be heading back then "

She informed moses who did expect this was still slightly surprise

" You're leaving ?  "

He found himself asking in a hurry at her figure who was about to leave

" Hmm there's a friend party I need to attend "

She replied truthfully feeling Moses stare

   which felt cold but simply shook such thoughts off her mind .

" Are you really leaving Anita for a party ? "

He asked sounding sarcastic

" Of course not I'll be back sooner  than you think, so don't worry and besides you are here aren't you her husband ? "

" But ! "

Moses took a step forward wanting to say something

  but found her walking away elegantly like a noble lady

Without waiting for Moses to say more

  her heels clicked along the tiles furthering her steps away

   from Moses who furrowed his brows in anger yet again but didn't dare to stop her

     He silently look back heading forward his mind clouded with so many thoughts .

" Boss ! "

At that moment he heard a familiar voice which got his attention.

     Looking through the mixed of  passerby his eyes caught up a figure which approached slowly

" Precious ! "

He mouthed not loudly watching her

    as she took each steps forward until she came to a stop right in front of him

" Aren't you supposed to be with Aunt ? "

He found the words leaving his mouth before closing them back in a hurry noticing her tired expression

" She's resting "

She replied causally her voice hoarse and rough from all the crying, her eyes swollen and red but still managed to force a small smile

" And leo ? "

He softly asked which made her sighed but nodded

" He's still unconscious "

Her voice low with a hint of guilt

" The doctors said he's out of danger

  but I just don't understand why he's still not waking up "

She whispered mostly to herself wrapping off the new fresh tears inhaling deeply to calm

 down her heart

" He will wake up soon we just have to be patient "

He console not just her but also himself

" You should head home and try get some rest you really seems to need it "

Moses suggested with a small smile which made her nod not arguing about it .

    Her body really felt low and exhausted both in and out

" I think it will be better

   if one of the cops escort you back just for protection

   We don't want to take any risks mostly when the culprit is still out there "

He suggested yet again his voice hint with concerned .

which made her understood but still shook her head

" There's no need I can head back on my own

    Am not scared anymore and besides I think it will be better if the cops stays and protect both Leo and yourself "

She said simply

" Don't worry about me I can care for myself

  right now it's my responsibility to see you both safe and sound "

He murmured under his breath before focusing back on percious

" Speaking about the police did they ask you for any more questions ? "

" Hmm but  you told me not to say a word to them "

She replied back with a serious expression which made him nod in satisfaction

" We can't afford to take risks "

He nodded while thinking

" By any chance did you manage to get a better look at the culprit face ? "

This question soon made her fall silent slightly thinking before shaking her head

" No it was too dark and it happened so sudden that I didn't have time "

She explained her voice tremble at the memories

" Don't think about it then and head back,

  I will ask one or two to take you back  "

" Speaking about them I wonder where they might be ? "

He thought silently not voicing out his thoughts
