Danny went radio silent as Tom rushed to set up the projector, suddenly aware of her surroundings. And damn it, the king of Solpadia was in the corner of the room, his eyes laser focused on the bread-buying-mute prince.
Speaking of which, the boy must be really powerful to be leading the All Nations Council. She didn't know that royalty was in charge of the council, she thought it was a president of the council, then again, she loathed history despite of her perfect memory. And now, she looks loathed herself for like a thing history. Must be karma, that scheming evil git.
Danny watched in amusement as the boy, "Prince Shoal" she read of the tag on the table, leaned back against the chair, in front of a council of kings and princes and ministers and important people she never bothered to learn about, and just clicked through his presentation every few minutes, saying nothing. She was secretly impressed.
She almost nodded off when the boy, no, Prince Shoal, gestures at the king of Solpadia, who stood up clearing his throat, and walks to the front of the room. Danny was awestruck, the man she admired since she was young, the man she only saw on TV was now only about an arm's length away from her. She watched him, transfixed as his secretary, Danny assumed, rushed around to fix up his presentation on the second screen.
"You see, your highness," So royals address each other that way as well, well that's only fair, Danny mused. "Solpadia really needs to tighten that immigrant rule you changed last year." he said, straight to the point.
Shoal sighed, rubbing his temples.
The king didn't seem to take notice. " Our population rised by 150%, more lands are being developed, at this point, we might lose our reputation as a laid-back, spread out country."
Shoal huffed. 'Your solution?' He typed on his laptop, which was projected on the screen.
"Tightening the immigration rule, of course."
'What about restricting land development, like I told you last month, and the month before that?'
"It didn't work"
'Or you just didn't try very hard. Send me what you applied by tomorrow.'
The king seemed displeased. He bowed, "Yes, your highness"
That went on for another two hours. Danny dozed off. She woke up to footsteps scuffling. She finally gotten back to her sense when the door squeaked shut.
Tom rushed to Shoal, who had gotten ghostly pale, and took off his coat for him, helping him up. Shoal noticed her waking up.
"Come on Danny, let's go for that coffee, and then you can help me but a phone and pick out a number" His voice was surprisingly smooth, and deep.
"You can talk now?"
"That wore off, though I'm not sure if I'm happy that it wore off." he grumbled, standing up, clinging onto Tom. His security flagged their side immediately.
"Shouldn't you at least rest if you're sick?"
Shoal smiles. "If I did that I'd be asleep all my life." He paused, looking at Danny, disorientated.
"Come on."
