A few days passed as Vespera explored the castle with the general on her side. They were both visibly annoyed by each other's presence.
But, of course, time still flies when you try to avoid it.
The king then commanded the general to head to battle against invading monsters that had broken the defense on the East side of the kingdom.
Without delay, General Arthur Wilhelm set for the battle with his troops, not informing Vespera about it.
You could imagine the anger burning brightly inside her when she found out she wasn't consulted.
"You're telling me that pest of a general decided to leave without informing me!?" She screamed in anger when a knight who had overheard informed.
The surroundings of the castle froze in time in her rage, leaving only her and the knight. "I'll teach that scum who thinks I can't do anything!"
Vespera unfroze time before immediately teleporting away, leaving a stunned knight in her room.
Back at the battle scene, the monsters grew rapidly, leaving some very confused troops and general.
"Spread out and ambush them! Their attack is slow when larger!" Arthur immediately ordered his knights with a loud voice.
The knights, ever so loyal, spread out and started to attack again, taking down several monsters at once.
As they were about to rejoice, they noticed that the barrier still wasn't repaired yet. The general looked at the mages in disbelief.
"All that time and the barrier hasn't been restored?" Arthur asked in blatant confusion. The mages looked at him with worried eyes.
"This only happens if there are still monsters attacking us." One mage explained before scanning the area.
Sure enough, there was another wave.
"Good heavens." Arthur muttered under his breath as he prepared himself to order his knights again, seeing the impending force of monsters.
"The Stars listen to my orders. Thread of Alnilam, remove yourself from Orion."
As quickly as the monsters arrived, so were they bound and sliced in an instant. The Starborne had arrived.
She landed in the middle of the field, the strings still in her grasps before letting go of them. The knights who were just about to attack looked at her in stunned silence.
"Vespera!"
"Arthur Wilhelm!"
The two voices shouted at each other, equally angry at the other for different reasons.
"Why didn't you just stay at the castle! If I didn't call for you, don't come!" The general was the first to start scolding.
"Well, I'm pretty sure the king ordered you to bring me along when you went for battle, Mr. General." Vespera added to the argument.
"Optional."
"You sure?"
"Hah, no. But I can deal with the monsters myself so don't try to help unless I actually ask you too. Besides, you're a mage."
Arthur turned around, seeing that the barrier was still unrepaired. Just as he was about to question the mages, he noticed that they stood completely still.
"Vespera." He muttered under his breath as he turned around to look at the mage. She stood there in the middle, glaring daggers at him.
"Do you seriously consider me that useless? The very embodiment of the stars?" She spoke in a raging voice.
The general kept silent as she stared at her, not knowing how to react before averting his gaze from her.
She appeared in front of him, her eyes cold and unnerving. "Have you lost all respect?" She questioned in anger before the general drew his sword, placing it at her neck.
"So what if I don't consider mages as useful for combat?" Arthur narrowed his eyes as he glared back at Vespera.
She scoffed at him, "I'm never helping." She sneered before teleporting away, unfreezing time as the mages quickly repaired the barrier.
