Chapter Text
"Hey look." Yoongi chuckles, pointing at something across the hallway.
"Oh yeah, it's that kid. The one with the coconut shaped hair." Taehyung grins. He elbows Jimin. "Let's go say something to him."
Jimin glances over at Jungkook. Seeing him so straight-faced makes Jimin feel really guilty for some reason. The image of the sadness in his eyes from Saturday flashes in Jimin's mind.
"Okay." Jimin swallows before following his friends over to where Jungkook is standing alone. Why does he feel like this? Like this is so wrong? He shouldn't feel like this, right? Coconut Head deserves what's coming to him, right?
"Coconut Head." Jimin calls out. Jungkook turns and looks to Jimin.
"Park Jimin." He nods. "Hello."
"Don't greet me." Jimin glares.
"Okay."
"Annoying." Jimin sighs, looking away from Jungkook. He's trying. He's trying to keep being rude, but the guilt is seriously starting to eat away at him. "Lets just go. I'm not in the mood for this." Jimin turns to his friends, who look kind of disappointed.
"Fine, Whatever." They grumble, already walking off. Jimin takes his opportunity to look at Jungkook again.
"I didn't mean what I said. On Saturday..." Jimin begins. "Not that I'm apologizing or anything. I just... your friends seem to like you enough so I doubt they'll go anywhere." Jimin crosses his arms, avoiding eye contact.
Jungkook doesn't say anything for a moment. He didn't think Park Jimin had a side like this. A side that's so... remorseful? Apologetic? Nice? Jungkook can't pinpoint what exactly it is, but he feels thankful for it.
"I'm sorry too." Jungkook starts. "Honestly, me calling you short wasn't even an insult. I just noticed you seemed to be uncomfortable about it. You shouldn't feel that way about it. It gives you a cute factor, which I'm a bit envious of, if I'm gonna be completely honest." Jungkook shrugs.
Did... did Jungkook just call Jimin cute?
"Did you just say I was cute?" Jimin blushes, shocked.
"No. I mean, I guess I implied it, but I wasn't directly calling you cute. I was just saying that short stature can give one a cuter appearance or vibe or whatever."
If Jimin didn't know any better, he'd say Jungkook is blushing. He can't be though, right? This kid doesn't feel anything, let alone embarrassment.
"Well..." Jimin coughs.
"I mean, not to say you're not handsome, because you are." Jungkook blurts out. "No, wait. What I mean is... objectively, without any emotions being involved, you're handsome." Jungkook explains, face noticably red by now. What is this? Is he panicking? Is this claustrophobic feeling because of Park Jimin?
"You think I'm handsome?" Jimin's eyes widen. What the hell is happening right now?
"Objectively."
"You're weird." Jimin crosses his arms, defensive. He tries ignoring his fast-beating heart. He seriously shouldn't be like this because of something Coconut Head said. This is ridiculous.
"I've been told." Jungkook nods. They both of them kind of just look at each other for a moment before Jimin spins around.
"I'm going to class." Jimin mumbles.
"Okay. Have a nice day." Jungkook calls after him.
"Don't tell me what to do." Jimin calls back.
Jungkook watches him go. He brings his hand up and presses it to his chest. His heart is beating a mile a minute. Why though? Is this because of Jimin?

Jungkook, Namjoon, and Jin all stare at the three people sitting across from them at their usual lunch table. This is weird. Very weird.
"What the hell are you wearing?" Yoongi asks Namjoon, a disgusted look on his face.
"It's fashion, you wouldn't understand." Namjoon says, trying to seem intimidating, but ultimately recoiling into himself when Yoongi raises an eyebrow.
"That's not fashion, that's garbage." Yoongi sighs.
"What's this?" Taehyung yanks on the sash around Jin's torso.
"Don't touch it!" Jin smacks Taehyung's hand away. "It's my president's sash, okay?"
"President? President of what?"
"The abstinence club. You filthy hooligans wouldn't know anything about that though." Jin turns his nose up.
Taehyung turns to Jimin and Yoongi with a grin on his face. "Guys, he really thinks that being abstinent is a good thing. Poor guy."
"First of all, I can hear you. Second of all, at least I'm not STD riddled like some people." Jin says pointedly, crossing his arms.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Jimin questions.
"Nothing, unless you identify with it. I guess you must. Someone who blackmails people to sleep with him probably knows a lot about that."
"You little—"
"Try me." Jin provokes Jimin. "My sister is a lawyer, and my dad used to be the district attorney. I can sue you for everything you own. Hit me. Do it." Jin stands, slamming his palms down on the tabletop and giving Jimin a menacing glare.
Jimin stands and leans over the table towards Jin. He reaches for his collar, but instead his hand collides with a book.
"What the—" Jimin looks to see Jungkook holding some book out. "What are you doing?"
"Did you know that the petunia has 35 different species that originate from South America and depending on the variety, it can be anywhere from six inches to four feet in height?" Jungkook asks, making everyone at the table quiet down. They all blink at him.
"What?" Jimin asks, fist still against Jungkook's book.
"The petunia—"
"I heard that, but why is it relevant to anything we're talking about?" Jimin shakes his head.
"It's not. I just thought you'd like to know."
Silence.
"This kid is weird." Yoongi begins. "He makes me uncomfortable."
"You really are weird, Coconut Head." Jimin snatches the book from the younger male's hands. "What is this anyway?"
"It's a book on horticulture." Jungkook explains.
"Horticulture?" Jimin questions.
"You know, plants."
"Plants...? Why do you read books about plants?"
"I enjoy plants." Jungkook says. Jimin stares at him for a moment before rolling his eyes.
"You're seriously boring." Jimin hands the book back.
"But plants are interesting..." Jungkook shrugs. "You're entitled to your opinion." He nods.
"How much longer are we gonna sit here?" Yoongi questions, bored.
"Yeah. They're boring." Taehyung pouts.
"Fine, we can go, but don't think this is the last you'll see of me." Jimin gives a pointed look to Jungkook and his friends.
"See you later, Park Jimin." Jungkook waves. Jimin rolls his eyes and walks off with his friends in tote.
"Why do you let him talk to you like that? You're obviously not scared of him, so why not say something?" Namjoon asks Jungkook.
"I don't know. He doesn't really bother me." Jungkook shrugs.
"Does anything bother you? God." Jin sighs, obviously still upset for whatever reason.
"I'm gonna go." Jungkook stands all of a sudden. He remembers his resolve from a few days ago, and wants to go find Park Jimin again.
"Go where?" Both Jin and Namjoon ask, confused. "The lunch period just started."
"I'll see you guys later." Jungkook ignores their questions and grabs his things before walking off. He thinks he saw Park Jimin go in this direction...
Jungkook heads down the hallway to see Min Yoongi and Kim Taehyung walking without Park Jimin. Maybe he went into the bathroom? With that thought in mind, Jungkook turns into the boys bathroom and looks around.
Lo and behold, theres Park Jimin, looking at himself in the mirror. Jungkook watches him adjust his clothes and put some chapstick on before approaching him.
"Hello." He says, making Jimin jump.
"Jesus, Coconut Head. Don't do that!" Jimin growls, shocked that Jungkook was even able to sneak up on him like that. "What?"
"What are you doing?" Jungkook asks.
"Why are you asking? Go away." Jimin gives him a weird look. Why is he asking me this? This so too weird...
"Do you want to hear another plant fact?" Jungkook asks.
"What? No. We're in the guys bathroom." Jimin gives Jungkook a weird look. "I'm leaving."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want to have a conversation with you in the bathroom. It's too weird." Jimin pushes past Jungkook, who just trails after him like a lost puppy. "Why are you following me?"
"I don't know. Didn't we become friends after you apologized to me?" Jungkook asks. Jimin whips around to look at him, almost making Jungkook fall into him.
"Friends? Us?" Jimin questions with shock in his eyes. "You don't seriously believe that, do you?"
"I guess not. Hey, how do you do that?" Jungkook kind of brushes off Jimin's questions and looks at him intensely.
"How do I do what?" Jimin backs away, confused.
"How do you make yourself look shocked like that?" Jungkook asks.
"It's a basic human emotion, Coconut Head." Jimin shakes his head.
"I know. I can feel shocked too, but you even looked shocked."
"It's just natural. Why are you getting so close to me?" Jimin can feel his heart racing as Jungkook studies his face intensely. "Don't look at me so closely." Jimin covers his face with his hands, but Jungkook forces Jimin's hands away, holding them in his without realizing it. "C-Coconut Head."
"I can tell that you make a lot of expressions. You can almost see the lines." Jungkook mumbles as he studies Jimin's face.
"What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying I have wrinkles?" Jimin scoffs.
"No." Jungkook shakes his head.
"Will you get away from me, please?" Jimin asks, a little breathless if he's honest. Why though? It's just Coconut Head, right? He shouldn't be getting so flustered over him.
"I have a lot of emotions, I just don't know how to express them." Jungkook tells Jimin. Jimin looks up at him. "How do you express them so well?"
Is he asking Jimin for advice? "Well... I can't teach you." Jimin shrugs, feeling kind of sorry for Jungkook. "It's something you have to learn on your own. Nobody can teach you how to feel." Jimin shrugs.
"I think you can though. You're special." Jungkook shrugs. Jimin stares at him, heart pounding. "I guess I'll leave you alone now. Goodbye, Park Jimin."
