IT'S CRAZY BODY TIME

Have you ever noticed a class of 13-year-olds standing in line for lunch? A few are taller than the teachers and one or two look like they haven't grown since third grade. And it isn't just height. some have arms that have stretched out of their sweaters; others can't find jeans to fit. A couple of the boys don't appear to have a muscle in their bodies.

It's crazy body time. I remember looking in a mirror when I was 13 and thinking I had trash can lids for ears. Day and night I worried about it, asked my friends how my ears looked, and tried to comb my hairs over them. for a few weeks my ears were the biggest problem in my life.

Fortunately my fears about my ears were wiped away by one girl in her early 20s. I asked her about my ears and she said, With a warm smile, "You look fine." Then I started to worry about my feet.

Boys are likely to worry about their height when they hit the teen years. All boys want to be tall. When they see many of the girls taller then they are, it drives them nuts, especially at dances. they don't have much to be concerned over. Boys usually spurt upnonce or twice and often end up tall enough. A few boys didn't reach their full height until they are out of school.

Most of us learn to become happy with ourselves no matter how tall we get. We find out that character, kindness, and friendship are more important than size. But while you are growing like corn plants in july, it's hard to believe that size doesn't count.

If boys worry about height and ears, girls think every other day about ****** size. we may call ****** other names, but no matter what we call them, breasts are one of the great interest among Americans. other nationalities talk about them far less.

A 13-or-14-years-old girl might have little development or a great deal. Naturally she worries about growing too large or not growing at all. No matter how she grows, the girl is probably going to be teased. That teasing often comes from other girls as well as boys.

It's hard to be patient and accepting, but it is the best route. In your early teens there is no way of knowing how your body will turn out. The best attitude to stay healthy, exercise, eat right, and let your body grow at its own pace.

Most of us will be happy with the finished product. God has designed a great machine that builds as we grow. It will be intriguing to see how wonderfully your body developes.

If you have specific questions about your growth, ask your parents, docters, teachers, or possibly your youth counsellors. When you know what is going on, you have little to fear as your body stretches out.

"I PRAISE YOU BECAUSE I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE; YOUR WORKS ARE WONDERFUL, I KNOW THAT FULL WELL."
