The glowing blue PORTAL swirls behind KAIA. Lanterns float past her head like jellyfish in slow motion. The colors of the magical world begin to dim as night approaches.
KAIA
(quietly, uncertain)
It’s getting dark. I should go.
RIVEN stands beside her, arms folded, watching the shimmer of the portal. His tone is calm, but his eyes hold something deeper — like he’s seen this moment before.
RIVEN
Will you come back?
Kaia hesitates. A beat. She gives a slow nod.
KAIA
Maybe. I mean... yes. I think so.
RIVEN
Magic doesn’t reveal itself to everyone.
(softly)
It found you for a reason.
Kaia gives a nervous smile. She turns and steps through the portal.

Kaia emerges through the shop door. The street is once again cold and familiar. The SHOP behind her looks dull, like nothing magical ever happened. The door closes softly.

INT. KAIA’S BEDROOM – NIGHT
Kaia sits on her bed in pajamas, knees pulled close, a NOTEBOOK open on her lap. Her lamp casts warm light across the pages. She stares into space, lost in thought.
A beat of silence, then she picks up her pen.
KAIA (V.O.)
Today I found a world that shouldn’t exist.
Books that breathe. A boy named Riven.
A door that led to everything I didn’t know I needed.
She writes with slow, deliberate strokes.

The cafeteria buzzes with typical teen energy. KAIA sits across from AMI (17), her best friend — skeptical and munching on chips.
AMI
Let me get this straight. You snuck into a creepy abandoned shop… and it turned into Hogwarts?
KAIA
It’s real. All of it. The shop. The portal. The—magic.
AMI
(squinting)
You’re serious?
KAIA
Come with me after school. I’ll prove it.
A beat. AMI narrows her eyes.
AMI
If we get cursed by mirror elves or whatever, I’m telling my mom it was your idea.
Kaia grins, excited and scared all at once.

EXT. GRIMWOOD STREET – DUSK
KAIA and AMI stand in front of the shop. The street is nearly empty. The air is still.
The shop looks exactly the same — crooked, silent, forgotten by time.
AMI
Wow. It’s… uglier than I expected.
KAIA
(laughs nervously)
Just wait.
Kaia places her hand on the LION-SHAPED HANDLE. The wood creaks as the door inches open.
A faint glow escapes from within.
KAIA (softly)
Ready?
AMI peers in, wide-eyed.
AMI
No. But let’s do this.
They step inside.
