He's the Boss?!
They say love is a game you can’t play alone. Well, they’re wrong because I love myself.
In my circle of friends, I’m the only one without a boyfriend. And honestly? I don’t get why they act so surprised. I’m not in the mood for playing around, flirting here, flirting there. I have priorities. I don’t have time or the energy for anything else.
They say I’m too much of a “killjoy” for not doing what they do. Apparently, being single and focused makes me boring.
And yet… here I am. At a club.
Why? Simple. Sha-Sha dragged me here. She was practically begging me to come, and knowing how reckless she can get, I didn’t really have a choice. Someone has to babysit her.
So I’m sitting in the corner, away from the dance floor chaos, watching Sha-Sha drink and dance like she owns the night. Me? I’m sipping juice, because someone has to stay sober someone has to be the responsible one when my best friend forgets what that word even means.
As I took another sip of my drink, I noticed a guy making his way toward me.
“Hey, are you alone?” he asked, voice calm and deep.
I looked up. He was tall, dressed in a black polo with the first button undone. He looked… good. Like, hot good. The kind of hot that makes you rethink every firm principle you’ve ever sworn by.
“No, I’m not,” I replied, meeting his gaze. His dark green eyes held a warmth and something else I couldn’t quite read. He chuckled at my answer.
“I see,” he said, casually taking the seat next to mine. “So, where are your friends? Why’d they leave you sitting here alone?”
“Dancing. And fooling around, I guess.” I shrugged, trying not to sound annoyed.
He smiled, took a sip of his drink, and for a moment, neither of us said anything. It wasn’t awkward though it was… surprisingly comfortable.
Still, I decided to break the silence. “Why are you still sitting here?”
He looked at me really looked and smiled like he meant it.
“Because you look like someone worth sitting with.”
I laughed. Really? Tsk, this guy.
“If you’re looking for someone to hook up with, I’m off limits,” I said, sipping my drink.
He just chuckled. Hot.
Wait what?! No!
“I’m not in the mood for hookups. I’m not that kind of guy, you know?”
I gave him a look. Based on his features, he kind of seemed like a womanizer. Or maybe he’s just lying to get something. I crossed my arms.
“Yeah, yeah,” I said, clearly unbothered.
I thought he’d leave after that but no. He was still there, leaning on the table, hands on his glass, still looking at me.
Wait… me?
“Checking me out?” he smirked.
“What? No! Why would I?” I snapped defensively.
He laughed. “Relax, I’m just kidding. No need to be so defensive.”
“I am not!"
Why is he still not moving? Sigh.
“May I know your name?”
“You’ve been sitting here for an hour and you’re only asking my name now?” I raised a brow.
He laughed again. Am I his happy pill? Why does he keep smiling?
“Because if I asked earlier, I wouldn’t have been able to think about anything else,” he smirked.
This f*cker.
I blushed at his words. “Shut up,” I muttered, looking away.
“Lavender.” I looked down at my purse.
“Lavender…” he repeated with a small smile. “I should’ve asked sooner. It’s already stuck in my head.”
“Lavender… What a beautiful name,” he added, locking eyes with me.
“For a beautiful woman like you.”
I scoffed, quickly covering my face with the back of my hand as if that would hide how red I’d become.
