As the leader of the number one family in Phoenix City, although Old Mr. Lopez was once a powerful old general, he took calligraphy as his hobby.
The manager of Charlotte's department was a crazy fan from Old Mr. Lopez's calligraphy and there were several Old calligraphy manuals of Mr. Lopez pasted on his office. So when Charlotte saw the familiar handwriting on the cheque, she was sort of convinced.
"I don't know why Old Mr. Lopez chooses medespite the fact that there are so many girls in Phoenix City and he's even willing to pay an astronomical price for my betrothal gift."
Charlotte calmed the shock in her heart, and pushed the cheque back, "But I'm sorry, I can't accept it. The lesson I've learnt since I was young is that there are some things that cannot be taken advantage of."
There must be a reason behind the abnormality. She had never met Old Mr. Lopezor Master Sean before, yet they sent someone over to talk about her marriage.
Her intuition told her that there was a huge hole in front of her. If she jumped into it, she would not be able to climb out.
"Miss Campbell, don't misunderstand, this money is not for the transaction fee, but for the betrothal gift."
"Whatever. I still can't take it."
Charlotte stood up while carrying her bag, "I still have some matters to attend to, so excuse me."
"Miss Campbell." Steven also stood up, the eyes hidden behind the eyeglasses shimmering, "I heard that your grandmother suffered from a serious heart attack, but the operation was delayed until now because you were short on money. Is that true?"
Charlotte frowned, "You have investigated me?"
"Since you are the future wife of Master Sean, I thought it's normal that Old Mr. Lopez has a basic understanding of your family situation."
"Don't call me that, I haven't promised you!"
"How about this." Steven raised his eyebrows and handed a name card to her, "I'll give you three days to consider it. If you change your mind, please give me a call."
Then he walked past her and left the coffee shop.
His confident expression before leaving made Charlotte a little unhappy, so that she wanted to throw his name card into the trash can. However, she finally kept it without knowing why.
She pursed her lips, then put the card into her bag.
Taking a glance at the time on her phone, Charlotte found that it was already 7 PM, so she quickly took a taxi back home.
After returning home, Charlotte took out the key to open the door, but discovered that she was unable to.
The door lock was changed?
But Aunt Rosa didn't told her about that!
"Auntie, Auntie, are you home?" Charlotte strongly knocked on the door, "Auntie, help me open the door! Grandmother? Grandmother, can you hear me?"
She knocked on the door for a long time, but there was no response from inside.
Charlotte called home for a long time before someone finally answered!
"Hello." It was Aunt Rosa's voice.
Charlotte heaved a sigh of relief and anxiously said, "Auntie, it's Charlotte. The lock on the door has changed, but I don't have the key Are you home? Can you come out and open the door for me?"
"Open the door for you? I have changed the lock just to prevent you from coming in, and now you are asking me to open the door for you? What a joke!" Upon hearing it was Charlotte, Rosa immediately changed her voice to a harsh sneer.
Charlotte was startled, "Auntie, what do you mean by that?"
"I mean, I don't have any place for you here anymore. I'm going to leave your room for my son to get married to! As for you, go as far as possible and don't let me see you again! Also, I left all your belongings at the end of the corridor. You should find them yourself!"
Charlotte ran to the end of the corridor and discovered that her daily necessities and design papers had all been thrown out, scattered all over the floor.
Her eyes turned red as she ran back and slammed the door. "Auntie! Auntie! How could you do that? That house was left to me by my mother, what right do you have to chase me away! "
