The next day, Moon was walking across campus when she heard her name being called. She turned to see Benjamin jogging towards her, a smile on his face.
"Hey, Moon! I was hoping to run into you," he said, slightly out of breath. "I was wondering if you'd like to study together again sometime? Maybe we could work on a project together?"
Moon hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to respond. She had enjoyed their previous conversation, but she didn't want to get too distracted from her studies.
"I'll think about it," she said finally, trying to sound noncommittal. "But I'm pretty busy with my coursework right now."
Benjamin nodded understandingly. "No problem, I get it. Maybe I can help you with some of the material? I'm pretty good at explaining complex concepts."
Moon raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite herself. "Okay, sure. That would be helpful. As they walked to the library, Moon made a conscious effort to set boundaries. "Let's focus on studying, okay?" she said, looking at Benjamin directly. "I'm really trying to stay on top of my coursework, and I don't want any distractions."
Benjamin nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. "Absolutely, I understand. I'm here to help you with your studies, nothing more."
Moon felt a sense of relief, knowing that she had made her boundaries clear. As they sat down at a table and began to study, Moon found herself feeling more at ease. Benjamin was a great study partner, explaining complex concepts in a way that made sense to her.
As they worked, Moon couldn't help but notice the way Benjamin's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. She pushed the thought aside, focusing on the material.
As they studied together, Moon couldn't help but feel a sense of connection with Benjamin. She enjoyed his company, and his explanations of complex concepts made her feel like she was learning more effectively.
As they took a break, Benjamin asked her about her interests outside of academics. Moon hesitated for a moment, but then shared her passion for reading and writing. Benjamin listened intently, asking thoughtful questions and sharing his own experiences.
Moon found herself feeling more and more comfortable around Benjamin. She started to notice the way he smiled when she said something he found interesting, and the way his eyes sparkled when he was enthusiastic about a topic.
As they packed up their things to leave, Benjamin turned to her and said, "You know, I really enjoy studying with you, Moon. You're smart and funny, and I feel like we really connect."
Moon's heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze. She felt a flutter in her chest, and for a moment, she forgot about her boundaries.
As Benjamin spoke, his eyes locked onto Moon's, and she felt a spark of electricity run through her body. Before she could respond, Benjamin took a step closer to her, his face inches from hers.
"Would you like to grab dinner with me sometime?" he asked, his voice low and smooth. "Maybe we could discuss books and writing outside of a study group?"
Moon's heart racing, she hesitated for a moment. She hadn't expected Benjamin to ask her out, and she wasn't sure how to respond.
"I'd like that," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Benjamin's face broke out into a smile, and he leaned in, his lips brushing against her cheek. "Great," he whispered, his breath sending shivers down her spine. "I'll text you.
