Chapter 5: The One Who Doesn’t Flinch

The royal garden was buzzing with whispers. Tonight was the engagement party of the Crown Duke and some noble’s daughter — a political alliance, nothing more. Or so they said.

Caelan Veritas stood at the far end of the garden, a glass of champagne in his hand, dressed in black silk and sapphire rings that glinted like warning signs.

He was the storm at the edge of everyone’s vision.

Liora Ashbourne, of course, had her claws in the spotlight. She clung to Aeron’s arm like she belonged there, smiling just a little too brightly.

> “He’s finally moving on,” someone whispered.

“Good riddance to Caelan.”

And yet — Caelan didn’t even blink.

Aeron (loudly, in front of everyone): “Caelan. I didn’t expect you here.”

Caelan (without looking): “And yet I was invited. Must be fate.”

Aeron: “You remember Lady Delphine, don’t you?” (He rests his hand on her back)

Caelan (deadpan, sipping wine): “Should I?”

Lady Delphine (awkward): “I… I suppose not.”

> Aeron’s jaw twitched. He had expected a reaction.

Anything. But Caelan didn’t even look twice at the woman clinging to him.

Caelan (smiling slightly): “If you’re trying to make me jealous, Aeron… you’ll need to try harder. I’ve seen prettier flowers in a cemetery.”

Aeron (coldly): “You haven’t changed.”

Caelan (eyeing him): “Oh, I have. I stopped bleeding for people who watched me drown.”

Boom. Silence.

As Caelan turned to leave, Aeron reached out and grabbed his wrist.

Aeron: “What happened to you?”

Caelan (softly, with a cruel smile): “You did.”

Behind him, nobles whispered. Liora’s smile cracked. And Aeron — for the first time — didn’t know what to say.

Because no matter who stood beside him now…

He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the villain who no longer cared.

And that terrified him.

Author’s Note

Thank you for stepping into this world of twisted fates, silent heartbreaks, and unforgettable love. “To Rewrite a Villain’s Fate” is more than just a story—it’s a journey of scars hidden beneath smiles, of redemption laced with rage, and of love found in the most unlikely places.

Through Caelan Veritas, I wanted to explore what it means to be misunderstood. To be labeled a villain when your heart only ever wanted to be seen. Aeron Vale represents that light we all chase—steady, golden, but sometimes blind to the darkness quietly begging for help. And between them? A fate written in betrayal, but rewritten in blood, wit, and raw emotion.

This story is for the ones who’ve been silenced, the ones who fight battles behind a charming smile, and for every reader who loves a villain not because he’s evil—but because he dares to rise.

To those still holding on to a dream, to a love that felt unfinished—this one’s for you.

Thank you for reading, crying, raging, and hoping with me.

With ink-stained fingers and a hopeful heart,

—The Author
