> “Oh, I’m not threatening you,” Caelan whispered, stepping closer. “I’m flirting with the idea of ruining you.”
Their tension thickened. But no sparks of recognition flashed in Aeron’s eyes.
Caelan studied him with veiled hurt.
> So… you don’t remember me. Not even in this life.
The crowd murmured around them. But in that moment, there was only silence between hero and villain.
Later That Night – Caelan’s Chambers
Caelan stared into the fire, his jaw clenched.
