The Doll Of Meshicca

‎"Should I accompany you, Lady Reverie?" Terry spoke with worry. Her anxiousness can be seen all over the place. "Don't bother. I'll be back in an hour or so." Eve said that with a genuine concern for her attendant. But her voice and expression failed her. It came out cold and scary. But Terry softly smiled. She knows that her mistress meant it in a good way. "Then please be careful. Call us the moment something comes up." After a nod from Eve, Terry bowed. Eve started to walk. She stopped when she reached the huge door. She looked up and heard the noises made by the people inside of the mansion. The guard shouted as the door opened, "Lady Reverie Meshicca, from the Meshicca Family have arrived!"

‎Clack...Clack...Clack.

‎It was Eve, who was making such noise. The buzzing chatters that filled the entire hall disappeared. It almost felt like a scene from a movie where the villainess would enter the palace and the nobles would be silent. She, herself knows her own position. Eve strode quietly with poise. Everyone's gaze was fixated on her. When she reached the center, she slightly bowed, "I, Reverie Meshicca, from the great household of Meshicca Family, greets her Ladyship Harel Drass and wishes her a wondrous night of a birthday." Her black lace dress flowed elegantly as she raised her head. The woman in front of her wore a white dress, combining silk and lace. Eve thought that if she didn't know it was a birthday party she would assume the Lady just got married. "It is my honor to have the Lady of house Meshicca as a guest tonight." Eve wanted to laugh but she refrained herself from doing so, well to be honest she doesn't even know if she could. The woman's annoyance can be seen. It was what Eve expected.

‎Eve sat at a table near the corner, alone. Watching others and enjoying delicacies quietly. It's already the 50th century but the traditions from ancient times were brought back. The only difference was that the technology was more advanced than any other era. Eve could only sigh, for her it was like the world is roleplaying the era that had passed. The people surrounding her murmured like she can't hear them. Eve could make up words like, 'why is she here?', 'i thought she hated gatherings like this?', 'she remained a beauty', 'black dress', and 'doll'.

‎She ignored all the whispers and continued on spectating the whole ball. She does hate stuff like this. And she didn't want to come. That was until her maid Terry and the head butler Waine, convinced her. And another reason was the Lady of the ball, herself.

Harel Drass, a woman that is born with everything. Everyone adored her cuteness but she was defeated by a sudden appearance of a doll-like beauty of the Meshicca Family, who was known for elegance and appearance that could not match anyone. She hates Eve. After what happened to Eve, a few years back, she was happy. She celebrated at the thought that she would be the most beautiful woman again. But she's wrong. Eve came back, beautiful but different. The Lady of Drass thought that this change is a big upper hand. She would excoriate Eve, with every chance she could and would say mean things about her.

‎'The doll of Meshicca', if an outsider heard that term, they will immediately think about the doll-like beauty of Meshicca. But to the society of rich people, it meant another thing. It was that Lady Reverie Meshicca, embodied the meaning of the doll, and that includes the literal meaning behind it. She was described as a beauty beyond compare but is as empty and lifeless as a doll.

‎Whenever the two ladies met, a battle of sarcasm would always start. It was a widely known event that everyone deemed as a normal encounter. But that didn't happen earlier. Looks like the Lady of Drass learned a little. But people don't change easily, Lady Harel would sometimes look at her direction and glare. Eve pretended not to know it and continued eating.

‎After an hour, Eve stood up and looked at Lady Harel's way, with a little curtsy she left her seat and walked out of the door. Lady Harel's frowning face faded from her memory when she saw Terry and Waine waiting for her. "Did she say something again, Lady Reverie? You look a little bit distracted." Terry's anxious face can be seen once again. Eve glanced at Waine and saw the same worried face. It was a blessing to have someone like these two, she thought. "She didn't." It was a short reply but it put both attendants at ease. They trust their mistress's words. Waine opened the door of the vehicle and gestured for Eve to enter. She entered without hesitation. The mansion faded into shadows as the car drove away. Eve's eyes were focused on the scenery that she could see at the window.
