Chapter 5 you belong to me.

Bhavik Joshi was everywhere again.

Outside her class.

In the corridor she always walked through.

By the water cooler — pretending to scroll his phone.

He didn’t say anything at first.

He just… appeared.

And stared.

Not like before — not the teasing, flirty glances.

This was different.

Like he was studying her.

And Sanshita felt it. Every single time.

She tried ignoring it. She told herself it was nothing. Maybe he was just bored. Maybe it was all in her head.

But then she caught him one afternoon standing at the top of the stairs — just watching her walk out of the library. He didn’t move. He didn’t even blink.

That night, she deleted and re-downloaded Instagram three times.

Her chest felt tight. Her sleep was broken.

And still… she couldn’t stop thinking about him.

Meanwhile, Nishant had changed too.

He wasn’t just being friendly anymore.

He was asking deeper questions.

“You okay?”

“You’ve been quiet lately.”

“You can talk to me, you know.”

And then came the line that froze her:

“You know… Bhavik’s not always what he seems.”

She looked up at him sharply. “What do you mean?”

Nishant hesitated. Then shook his head. “Just… be careful.”

It only made her want to know more.

The next day, it happened.

She’d gone to the old storeroom near the auditorium to return a box of unused fest material. No one was around. The lights were half-broken, dust in the air.

She was placing the box down when she heard it — a voice. Low, sharp, full of tension.

“Why the f**k do you keep calling me during school?”

Bhavik.

She froze behind a half-open door.

“I said I’d get the money, didn’t I? Just… not now. I’m not at home. Don’t start this here.”

Then silence. A thud. Like something was thrown.

Sanshita peeked through the gap.

He was pacing, hair messy, eyes wild. Not the smooth-talking boy everyone knew. This Bhavik looked… broken.

“I’m doing everything I can,” he whispered to no one. “What else do you want from me?”

And then — suddenly — his head turned. He saw her.

Their eyes met.

She wanted to run. But she didn’t.

“Following me now?” he said bitterly. “Cute.”

She stepped out slowly. “You were the one following me, Bhavik.”

He let out a dry laugh. “So what? You’re scared now?”

“I’m confused,” she said, her voice shaking. “You were kind. And now you’re… this.”

He stepped closer, and something about his eyes made her heart pound — not in a fluttery way. In a warning way.

“I didn’t want you to see this,” he said quietly. “You weren’t supposed to matter.”

That stung more than she expected.

“I’m not some game, Bhavik.”

He stared at her for a second longer — and then just walked past her.

No apology. No explanation. Just… gone.

That evening, she sat on her bed, holding the same folded note he had left days ago.

“You’re not as invisible as you think.”

Now it didn’t feel romantic. It felt like a warning.

And for the first time —

she wasn’t sure if Bhavik was the one with the secret…

Or if she was the one in danger of becoming his secret.
