Chapter 5: Is It Over Between Us?
When Anya saw Raunak again after three days, her heart was torn. She was happy to see him back, but there was a deep pain in her chest — one that words couldn’t describe.
So many questions raced through her mind.
“What happened?”
“Why did he push me away?”
“Is it over between us?”
Raunak noticed her silence. He could see it in her eyes — the storm of emotions she was holding back.
So he spoke first.
Before she could stop herself, Anya looked straight into his eyes and asked, “Is it over between us?”
There was a pause — a long, aching silence.
Raunak lowered his gaze, and in a voice barely above a whisper, he replied, “Yes... it’s over.”
Anya didn’t say a word. She just turned and walked away. Her face remained calm, but inside, everything was breaking.
She found a quiet corner in the school building — a place where no one could see her — and finally let it all out.
The tears came like rain.
And still, Raunak — who had watched her leave — didn’t follow. He stood frozen, then walked away silently.
The Next Day
Anya returned to school, pretending everything was normal.
But nothing was.
She saw Raunak in the corridor. Her heart ached, but she forced herself to look away. She couldn’t let herself feel anything again — not now.
Later, she was speaking with one of Raunak’s best friends when Raunak suddenly appeared near them. Anya didn’t wait. She turned around and walked away.
Again and again, Raunak tried to catch her attention — tried to show his face, hoping she’d at least look at him.
But Anya couldn’t.
She had already looked once.
And it had cost her too much.
