Li Mei walked into her dorm room, tossing her bag onto the bed. She had just finished a long day of classes at university, focusing on her programming courses. As she changed into comfortable clothes, her best friend and confidant, Zhang Wei, sat on the bed, scrolling through his phone.

"Hey, Mei! What's up?" Zhang Wei asked, looking up from his screen.

Li Mei flopped onto the bed beside him. "Just tired from classes. How about you?"

Before Zhang Wei could respond, Li Mei's phone buzzed. It was her mother, calling to invite her over for dinner that evening. Li Mei agreed, wondering what the occasion was. She hadn't seen her parents in a few days, and she was curious about the sudden invitation.

As she arrived at her parents' house, she noticed a sense of excitement and nervous energy in the air. Her parents exchanged a glance, and her mother began to explain the reason for the dinner.

"Li Mei, we've made a decision about your future. We've arranged a marriage for you with the Wang family," her mother said, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

Li Mei's eyes widened in shock. "What? Without even asking me?" she asked, her voice rising in indignation.

Her parents explained the benefits of the arrangement, emphasizing the business merger and the good reputation of the Wang family. Li Mei listened, feeling a mix of emotions: anger, disappointment, and uncertainty. She had always known that her parents valued tradition, but she had never thought they would arrange a marriage for her without her consent.

As she tried to process the news, Li Mei couldn't help but think about her own dreams and aspirations. She had always wanted to pursue a career in programming and make a name for herself in the tech world. Would this arranged marriage align with her goals, or would it derail her plans?

Li Mei's mind was racing with questions and doubts. She didn't know much about the Wang family or their son, Wang Chen. What was he like? Was he kind and understanding, or was he cold and distant? She felt like she was being forced into a situation without any control over her own life.

The more she thought about it, the more Li Mei felt a sense of rebellion rising within her. She was determined to make her own decisions and forge her own path in life. She wouldn't let her parents' traditional values dictate her future without a fight.

With a newfound sense of determination, Li Mei stood up, her eyes locked on her parents. "I need time to think about this," she said, her voice firm but respectful. "Can I meet him first? Can I get to know him before we make any decisions?"

Her parents exchanged a glance, and her mother nodded. "Of course, dear. We'll arrange a meeting soon."

Li Mei nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. Maybe this arranged marriage wouldn't be the end of her dreams after all. Maybe she could find a way to make it work, or maybe she could even change her parents' minds. Whatever the outcome, Li Mei was determined to take control of her own life and make her own decisions.
