Argument

We're in the car. He's driving. I suggested I should drive since he must have had so much going on in his mind. But he said he'll feel more relaxed if he drives. I can understand but it's TOO FAST.

“Can you slow down a bit?” I said as politely as possible.

“Sure… you don't need to be so kind to strangers.”

“She's your girlfriend. I mean ex now. Sorry.”

“Yeah.”

“And I just felt bad since she was crying and we didn't even know each other or didn't even talk to each other properly and we had to leave in that situation. So, I felt bad.”

“Why? Because you did the same to me? Can you relate?”

He still holds a grudge? That's a given. Should I say sorry?

“That-”

“Sorry. I went too far.”

“It's alright. I was saying that I don't relate to her, I just felt bad because she was crying and because of the situation and also I didn't even know what was going on or what exactly happened between you guys so how can I even relate?”

“Let me tell you then, she went with Josh on a drive without telling me which is where she and Josh got into an accident and are in that state, which would have been fine until I found out that they did more than just that drive and were meeting behind my back for over a year. And do you know how shameful it is that I didn't even know she was cheating for such a long time after being together for over six years. Does that answer your question?”, he shouted.

“I never asked you. I just said I didn't know. If you didn't want to tell me then you shouldn't have. And you didn't even get a hint that she was cheating on you? For over a year? Isn't it because you're not interested in her? Ofcourse she'll find someone who's interested then”. Oh lord, I was too agitated. Did I just… “I'm sorry. I was carried away.”

“Let's talk later. I'm driving and although I feel relieved when driving, this conversation isn't helping and I don't want the both of us to end up like the couple back at the hospital.”

We didn't talk at all. Now we're in the lift which again feels like a decade just like earlier. But this time, I think it really is taking a long time.

“I should leave”, said Aiden.

“What?”

“I'll go somewhere else, it's just… I think it'll be awkward between us after what happened.”

The elevator opened and he went out first. He's going? Where? If he could've stayed somewhere else then why did he even come here?

I entered the password and stood there silent. I don't know what to say. I don't want him to go. Not like this. After what happened.

“Stay.”

“What?”

I turned towards him facing my back at the door and said,“Don't go”

He looks shocked. He's speechless. I'm speechless.
